Even as an old Punk I have to say that for me this has always been the purest distillation of all things Rock and Roll. Lemmy and the boys are everything this music is supposed to be. Glad you got it and glad too that it got you.
Another old punk here, Motörhead was the ONLY rock not looked down upon when punks started to be elitist about music. Nobody had an argument against them 😂
No frills, no BS - they were the real deal - the pure essence of it. They made other bands look like a bunch of girls on their prom night. RIP Motorhead.
Next song ? It has to be 'Overkill', their most self-defining song from their greatest ever album of the same name. There'll be no turning back concerning Motorhead from there on in.
Overkill, Bomber, Ace of spades. Those three studio albums are flawless. And then for dessert No sleep till Hammersmith, their live album, up there with the best live albums ever
When Lemmy passed a blues player ( guitarist ) that has turned a shovel into a three strings electric, played with a slide. Payed a tribute to this song on a spade that was phenomenal, the guys name Justin Johnson. You might be surprised Lee.
"WE ARE MOTORHEAD AND WE PLAY ROCK N ROLL" is what Lemmy said at the start of every show then would say "WE ARE MOTORHEAD AND THAT WAS ROCK N ROLL" at the end of every show that's all he would say no chit chat between songs no fucking around
This was the classic line up that I saw live three times in 1979 and 1980 leaning over the edge of the stage at Hammersmith Odeon, London. I was so close my eyebrows were singed as the smokebombs went off. Although they are miming here to the studio track this is exactly how they sounded, looked and acted on stage at live gigs.
Lemmy was such a sweet guy, the documentary made on him is a must see. Dave Grohl at his eulogy told a story about bringing a signed Little Richard photo he knew Lemmy would treasure.
Early 90s, end of term when my wife was teaching, her class got the chance to pick some music to listen to and they voted for some boy band. She said something like "you're not making me listen to that - how about _Ace_ _of_ _Spades?"_ - so they played that instead. 😂
You've just discovered the greatest band ever! 1980 was the first of many times that I saw these guys, on the Ace up your Sleeve tour in Bristol UK. RIP Lem, Fast Eddie & Philthy - Motorhead for life 🤘🤘🤘
UK, Young One, Broadcasts on the Beeb, this hit like a freight truck. I think only the Damned hit so hard from a Young Ones appearance and that was with a song they wrote special for the show. Also check out "Headgirl", a colab Motörhead did with Girlschool, a UK all female rock band. The lead track was a cover of "please don't touch", it made number 5 in the charts! The national POP charts. In the 80's weird stuff like that could happen
Yep, this is 1980, but Lemmy formed the band in mid 1975 and this line-up was together from early 1976. They always sounded like this, just got better at it. During their heyday, Motorhead was the only heavy rock band that punks were permitted to admire. Denise Dufort was the drummer from Girlschool (all-female rock band), who had collaborated with Motorhead before.
Gday Lee,first time i heard motorhead, old mate had them on tape(yes tape)in 79,in a datsun 1600 had it up to 11 driving down the freeway on the way to the coast at 6AM,surfboards on roof, smoking a joint, loving life.Have a listen to hellraiser or march or die.
"Just 'Cos You Got The Power" is my favorite Motorhead tune. The live version from the "No Sleep At All" album may be the best performance, but others certainly have their virtues.
Lemmy is awesome slamming it out with that Rickenbacker bass. Yeah play it again- love it! Also dig Motorhead's Civil War and Them Not Me. Wicked nasty rock.
Saw this lineup in the summer of 1980 outdoors in Minnesota. They finished their opening piece and Lemmy said "now for a love song." Then the opening riffs of this tune happened. Yep, pure love for this version of Motorhead! I will never forget that quote.
So many great Motörhead albums in my collection, First choice , Overkill, 2nd Another perfect day , 3rd orgasmatron Also check the song Ramones by Motörhead & also the band Disrupt with Wurzel from Motörhead
Denise Dufort was drummer with all girl band "Girlschool"who were on the same label in the U.K. as "Motorhead". They did a duet E.P. together called "the saint valentines day massacre" which included the hit "Please Don't Touch" you really need to check it out.
Look up Compressorhead’s version of The Ace of Spades…..someone loved this enough to go through a lot of cash and trouble to make a robot tribute band to Lemmy
You need to read up about Lemmy. A genuine nice guy would talk to anyone. Lived his later years in a motel just of the strip in LA. His room was full of adult material, games consoles. He did so much speed and Jack Daniel’s during his life. He even got his mail delivered to his local bar. Dig out Dave Grohls eulogy to him at his funeral - it’s moving
Legit genuine - dude added me back on Fb when I found his account, and it wasn’t one of those fake celebrity ones run by a crew. It was pretty early fb days, maybe 2009; just an old rocker shooting the shit with fans sometimes when he got back from the pub. Fucking blew me away till the end how real he was. That no-frills real rocker thing can be a carefully managed persona, too… but not Lemmy. Didn’t ever act like he was above anyone talking to him. Let em get over their awe and calm down, and converse. Pretense wasn’t ever coming out of him.
Phil "filthy animal" Taylor 😊 great drummer Friend of mine was singing along with full conviction... The aids from space... 😂😂 And everibody has been touched by Motörhead indirectly. The amount of musicians stating they were a huge influence.. including Metallica.. Overkill... Overkill... Go
Saw them at Manchester Apollo and they were as loud as usual… after, we all piled into pub up the road, so everyone is getting drinks, jukebox playing, ears buzzing. Then the jukebox suddenly switched off and for about 5 seconds there was a deadly silence as we all stared at each other in panic, thinking our eardrums had been destroyed! The relief when the jukebox came back on! 😂
The Motörhead concert with Ramones as closing act in May 1994 in Buenos Aires was the loudest concert i ever attended in my life,i was deaf 4 days after that. I really don't understand how they could play at that volume for 40 years and not go deaf. For more Motörhead i recommend you: -Iron Fist -I'm So Bad Baby(I Don't Care) -Hellraiser -Burner -Liar -Overnight Sensation -Broken -We Are Motörhead -Killed By Death -Overkill -Going To Brazil -No Class -Bomber
RIP Lemmy, Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie, They kept their amps set to 11, and you had to feel that wall of sound that hit you in the chest like a sledgehammer to experience that raw power
Just listen to their first live album ‘No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith’. Every song is killer. It gives you energy for days. I know there were a lot of great bands at the time, but when it comes to metal there was metal before No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith and there’s metal after No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith. What I mean is…. after this album metal changed and just like every rock guitarist is indebted to Eddie van Halen, every metal band after this was indebted to Motörhead. Hell, you could even make the claim that the whole grunge scene could’ve never existed without Motörhead, because they were the only band that were able to unite metalheads and punks. Long story. I was there when it happened. In fact, the first ‘famous’ band I ever went to was Motörhead. Unfortunately, this was just after fast Eddie left the band. Still a great concert though. With Thin Lizzy’s Brian Robertson (or, as introduced by Lemmy, “the man with the fuckin’ haircut - he just cut his hair and painted it in all colours of the rainbow). 🧡😅
Denise Dufort is from the band Girlschool who supported Moterhead many times in the early days. For me Girlschool are the most underrated band ever. Cmon let's go, Race the devil, Emergency are absolute bangers. As well Lead guitarist Kelly Johnson I would put alltime best guitarist
"...gonna play it again". The only possible reaction.
😂😂😂 how can you not? 👍
Legally I think you have to
Exactly
Total respect for that but it should be," gonna play that again, but louder this time" 😁
@@LS-uw5onput it above 11 for sure 😂😂
Lemmy said in an interview, "We wanted to be the band, if we moved next door to you, your lawn would die!".
Even as an old Punk I have to say that for me this has always been the purest distillation of all things Rock and Roll. Lemmy and the boys are everything this music is supposed to be. Glad you got it and glad too that it got you.
Lemmy spent some time playing with The Damned
@@Kevvinm Somewhere in the depths of my music collection i have a copy of the MotorDam sessions , the Damned are criminally underrated .
Another old punk here, Motörhead was the ONLY rock not looked down upon when punks started to be elitist about music. Nobody had an argument against them 😂
@@annebokma4637 yes I remember at school you were either in the punk group or the metal group, but everyone agreed on Motorhead
No frills, no BS - they were the real deal - the pure essence of it. They made other bands look like a bunch of girls on their prom night. RIP Motorhead.
Don't put this on your driving playlist unless you're OK with getting a bunch of speeding tickets!
Saw them in 78 and 80, my ears are still ringing 👀
1980, number 1 in the UK charts, metal ruled then, loved lemmy in hawkwind
Lemmy ; the only rock star i missed ,when we left us.
Next song ? It has to be 'Overkill', their most self-defining song from their greatest ever album of the same name. There'll be no turning back concerning Motorhead from there on in.
"We are Motörhead" would be my pick. Fabulous lyrics, delivered in a voice that sounds like Lemmy is speaking from down in a mine shaft.
Best reaction ever hahaha! Absolutely play it again
Overkill, Bomber, Ace of spades.
Those three studio albums are flawless. And then for dessert No sleep till Hammersmith, their live album, up there with the best live albums ever
You got a like, just for playing it twice!
In its way one of the most perfect pieces of music ever recorded.
When Lemmy passed a blues player ( guitarist ) that has turned a shovel into a three strings electric, played with a slide. Payed a tribute to this song on a spade that was phenomenal, the guys name Justin Johnson. You might be surprised Lee.
Hell yeah, loved the double play!
That will now be with you for life. 🖤
"Play it again" Yes!!!
"We are the future, Baby, used to be the past.
We are the first to come and just might be the last
We are Motörhead and we don't have no class!"
😄
Nothing beat.the original 3 now that's the real MOTORHEAD
Philthy killing it, RIP
Absolutely maximum rock and roll
Motörhead with the classic line up here are the most pure rock n roll you can listen to…just at ear bleeding volumes. Magnificent.

Well done, sir.
I had to! That was NUTS
We are the road crew, Bomber, loads of hits from this tour/album
Saw them on the Ace Of Spades Tour at Glasgow Apollo .
The best .
Now we're talking!!!Godfathers of grunge!!! Biker rock.....love it...R.I.P Lemmy and Phil.....truly underrated 3 piece.
The real deal, right bro? This shit was AWESOME
@L33Reacts yeah...Britain was rocking in 1980.... check out Saxon......anything off their "Wheels of steel" album🤟
The 80's were the entirety of my teens. I am always instantly transported back in time to the salad days of my youth

Lemmy was a massive Beatles fan!
Don't shy away from some of their covers....Brilliant.
Their cover of Metalica's 'Whiplash' is better than the original!
In Louie Louie, you hear all the words.
"Rock and Roll Till I Die", they certainly did.
There are NO fans on this film set. Their badass-ness made their hair do that.
seen Motörhead live a couple of time, it is relentless hard rock, I mean it is just great! ^

I think they appeared on The Young Ones .
My intro to this song was a performance on the British tv comedy series The Young Ones. Epic!!

Overkill, Bomber, Shine, plenty of great Motorhead tracks
"Just 'Cos You Got The Power" is my favorite Motorhead tune. The live version from the "No Sleep At All" album may be the best performance, but others certainly have their virtues.

One band that both communities loved in the early 80s, Motörhead.
