Absolutely. He's great at elevating rock music to the artform that it should be. He's a true fan of rock and Ghost is his love letter to the music he grew up with and the people who introduced him to it.
It blows my mind how some "trve" metalheads hate Ghost because it's not heavy enough, they have so many "classic/old school metal" elements! Their loss...
Yeah. I mean for example Iron Maiden are so soft. Ghost have much heavier songs.
@@Quest4Horror IM is heavier than Ghost though. Ghost is more like Black Sabbath or Classic Ozzy. Which is still great.
But to answer the question, elitists hate Ghost because of the dissonance between the Black Metal style of iconography and image and the softer, more Black Sabbath-y sound. To those elitists, it's effectively a band taking the imagery they hold as their music and using it as the image for a much more radio-friendly sound. Granted, that's also bullshit because Black Metal artists took that imagery FROM artists like King Diamond and whatnot. But to look at it from their twisted viewpoint there is a sequence of reasoning they follow. It just starts off from a faulty base assumption, that Black Metal invented that look and iconography. It didn't.
Do black metal fans know about Mercyful Fate? Alice Cooper? The Misfits? Like theatrics, makeup and occult aren't exclusive to black metal.
@@northwindkey from my anectodal experience, pretty much every extreme metalhead I know likes ghost or at least is not into the sound but doesnt hate on them, the people I see hating on ghost is the same type of people I see hating on the newer "soft" and extreme bands, the so-called "oldschool gatekeepers", in my country they are those type of metallica boomers.
I remember 2013 at rock in rio when they played at the main stage before metallica and ALL those narrow "musically challenged" people kept booing ghost, and the next day I all could hear around those metalheads was "they're bad, they use this kind of satanic imagery which I don't like, what kind of message do they tell to the audience?" all I could say as a 15 year old that already liked to dumpster dive on the depths of youtube in order to find cool bands was "shut the fuck up, you think metallica is the greatest band ever".
@@leoaraujo8590 the only metal heads that I’ve known to dislike Ghost were hardcore TOOL fans 🤷🏻♂️ I prefer Ghost over TOOL. Actually, I prefer a lot of bands over TOOL but different strokes for different folks.
They have a very ABBA (and the subsequent structured pop bands) approach where Tobias Forge figured out the formula to take minor keys and sometimes off key tones and make them sound like pop. And it's amazing. Can't wait to see what Impara brings

I've been pretty sure of it ever since that live cover of Sympathy For The Devil. He's got a fuller sound, more control in the lower end of his range, and some vibrato that he wasn't using before. That says voice training all over it.
I do think a big part of it is that he seems to have moved away from the papa growl toward his natural singing voice. Or at least closer to it. He's also getting older. But he probably has been bored, so lessons can't be counted out

I absolutely love how Ghost pairs these heavy riffs with an almost choirboy angelic melody. Its the most creepy yet hopeful sound out there.

A friend of mine described Ghost's sound as 'evil surf rock', and I think it's about 1/2 that and half MetallicABBA personally. One of my favorite bands for sure.
They NEVER went by Ghost B.C. That was imposed by the label during a legal dispute. Papa himself said the B.C. in the name was silent.

'Call me little sunshine' is a quote from Aleister Crowley. When he was asked in court to explain his title Crowley said " The Beast 666 only means 'sunlight'. You can call me' little sunshine.'" The new album cover invokes Crowley as well.

I'm not sure if you knew this or not, but the only reason we know his name and some former "nameless ghoul" band members is because those members filed a legal suite against him forcing his name out in court. Most previous and all current band members are still "nameless". He still iterates on his stage persona, with the different Papas and such.
