We have a small electric fence training pen that we put our sow in and any piglets that will follow. Eventually, they’re all trying to get in there. Once they’re in and sleeping, we lure the sow out with food, close the gate and charge the fence. Easy peasy.
I think your system you've got now works fine. You just need a bigger pen to accommodate more piglets. Maybe some u-posts to hold up the plywood and join the joints with 2x4s.
I've seen others use pig boards for pushing them where you want them to go, but you have to keep it low to the ground to make them think it's a wall. You can buy them or make them from plywood.
I don’t have pigs yet but what about training them to the wire where they’re at with mom (6” off ground) then remove the mommas. Seems it might be easier to move 2 big pigs than 15 busy babies. Just my guess. I’ll be watching to see what you do so I have some idea about it when I get pigs next spring. 🤗
Berkshire and Duroc crooks makes for nice pigs. I have one Berkshire sow and one Duroc. My boar is Duroc. But the Berkshire piglets are so much more bulky than the straight Duroc. That's the next thing I need to make is a better way to catch them lol. Great videos.
I wish I had advice for you but I’m just starting on my journey with pigs. But those piglets look amazing so you’re definitely doing a great job! I would love to buy a couple from you if you ever decide to sell any.
Thanks. We are trying to get to the point where we have some for sale. Working up to that point. Stay in touch and we may be able to help. Appreciate ya'll watching.
Piglet creep feeder put on skids so not have lift so not pigs dont run to one end and creat a balance problem and not necessarily need forklift the gator or four-wheel ATV will work
Make an other one with the 1/2 have. He makes a figure 8 fence deal also to help corral them. I’m sure if given the time they will all go in their to eat constantly.
That's what we have planned. Wanted to give this one a shot before we put the other one together. Of course that will only take about 15 minutes (my laziness is showing 😂😂). Always appreciate ya'll watching.
@@SheratonParkFarms I’d have the door on the outside or a sliding one on your next master piece. I think it will work out better for ya. When you get them in the piglet enclosure fort are you going to castrate the males ? Well thanks for all the videos. Great job. Take care Todd
I think I asked this before, but couldn’t find the video I asked. Just curious if you have to have state license or are there any health Dept regulations to sell your products.
Just find one of those hydraulic pig moving trailers. I think they’re 6’x16’ foot. Lay it on the ground, feed pigs, close gate, raise it up and drive away. I think you can find used ones pretty cheap. Roose mfg is a name I found on a quick google search, I’m sure there are/were several manufacturers though. th-cam.com/video/nm2pSClzPlo/w-d-xo.html

Yes. They are more bulky, especially in the hams. Appreciate ya'll watching.

💯
You drove past an interesting grove of bamboo. Do you have any bamboo tips or have tried selling any at the farmers market?
Have not. I'd love to get rid of it thought. Its a bit invasive for us.
@@SheratonParkFarms My Dad had a bunch of it at his property, he used a backhoe to dig it out.
What kind of pigs are these? They are nice looking!
These are all primarily duroc/berkshire cross. They are good looking little fellows.
😎👍
Can you please increase the volume on your videos. You are nearly impossible to hear which is a shame since your content is so good.
Is it possible to either get build plans or detailed video of farrowing huts? Would like to build your model.
Thanks

DON'T FEED the piglets the evening before you want them in the box and they will fight to get in there when food hits the pans. ;-) -KJ
Hunger is a great motivator!
