It was this song that set me apart from my classmates who were into other more well-known rock bands of the mid-80s. I was alone in that regard and I ain't regretted it since. I still love this band like crazy.

An old friend I jammed with in the 90's hits me up out of the blue and say" we are doing a Fastway tribute. I committed instantly. Just out of curiosity I type in a few words and this video shows up. Perfect! I have been looking for a fun niche project and we ate getting together soon to play this music. Like ot was meant to be. And thank you for getting the history right, there were a dozen versions of what really happened. In 2001 I stopped into the Rainbow Room and and was chatting with Lemme, I asked what he thought of Fastway and he said" it's just a sissy version of Motorhead with a singer that is opposite of me. " Then I bought him a drink and next thing I'm at his place snorting giant lines of speed. It was that one time when your hero was everything you though and more. What a hard core man. Thank you so much.

Cool Video and back story about the song and the band, but just a quick correction about Pete Way’s departure- He didn’t outright leave just to join Ozzy’s band. Chrysalis records wanted to sign Fastway but the band got a far better offer from CBS so they took it …but unbeknownst to Pete his contract with UFO and Chrysalis prohibited him from signing with any other label. So the band moved forward without him and he got a call from Ozzy around the same time. But by all accounts he wasn’t a good fit and didn’t do very well on the Ozzy tour

At the beginning of the video when you mentioned Dave King being in Fastway I was thinking is he talking about the same Dave King from the Irish punk band Flogging Molly? I had no idea that Dave King was the original singer of Fastway. I feel like Fastway in general is an underrated band. My dad raised me on Motorhead, and Im a drummer who also plays guitar.. and I taught myself how to drum and play guitar playing along to the first 3 Motorhead albums. Then I wanted to know what he did after Motorhead, and thats when I found out about his band, Fastway. Eddie Clarke is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and imo he is a very underrated guitarist and influenced a lot of guitarists that are in big name bands today, like Metallica. He probably wanted to take Motorhead in a more commercially accessible and sounding musical direction and if Lemmy would've went along with it I bet Motorhead would've eventually sounded like Fastway. Because imo during the mid to late 80s after Clarke left, I wasnt that big of a fan of the music Motorhead put out after their 1983 album Another Perfect Day. I always thought music wise, Fastway was better.
