for me I was born in the USA and I'm part Latino what difference does that make? My parents are from peru what excuse does that give to judge someone who is Latino
Treat people the way you would like to be treated. Demonstrate love, kindness and embrace their culture. Another important factor, is get to know the person rather than making assumptions about them. Thank you Dhar for your video.
I feel I'm quite lucky that I've never been in situations like this. I'm a Vietnamese and I have a lot of friends from the US but they treat me very well and I am grateful for that. Thanks Dhar Mann for making this video, it really makes me happy to see someone from our country on your video ! edit: Thx for the likes!!!
No matter what race, ethnicity, and skin color they have, you should never judge someone before you get to know them. This is the moral of the story. Thanks Dhar Mann.
Point am saying is Jamaicans treats their own like damage gds n treats foriegn exchange students like they above everyone else.. when all said n done we are all on t same level red, yellow, black r white for GOD sees us all t same...
Right now in my class I have 5 Vietnamese American students, non of them are Foreign Exchange like Thien but I understand that some American people treat any Asians the way Kyle treated Thien. I'm part Chinese American and part Korean American and I know how it feels to be treated like Thien. So thank you Dhar Mann for spreading the word "We're not just telling stories, we're changing lives.
Oh yeah. I think he was just reminding him the lines. I’m surprised no one noticed it, I didn’t either at first. I guess it’s because they hide it. I honestly don’t mind, I think it’s pretty interesting.
As Vietnamese American I can relate to this video a lot. Growing up a lot of kids bullied me for bringing my culture Food to scjool and picked on me for how I look. But now that I’m grown I can stand up for myself and I wished I would’ve done that sooner
When I was in Madrassah (Islamic religious school), we had 6 Vietnamese students, they were given a lot of freedom by the institution, and they were extremely studious, friendly, nice guys, I taught them English and they taught me a little Vietnamese, it was a really lovely experience.
As a Ukrainian- Irish, I also was bullied because I was from a foreign background and after a while when people got to know me as a person, I ended up having lots of nice friends. Everyone deserves a chance and people should never judge a book by its cover and you should never judge a person before you get to know them. Stay safe everyone💙💛
My heart broke when he said "Is that how people are like in America?" It is really sad how just one single person can change an experience for one. Edit: Thank you for 'BeTheKindKid' for letting me use their comment idea, I am very inspired my their words!
Coming from an immigrant background in NZ, I can identify with Thien. This story deals with racism and prejudice. Future stories could deal with issues that international students struggle with such as language barriers, culture shock, and academic struggles. Good to get in touch with people from immigrant backgrounds.
I think having a foreign exchange student living with you would be pretty exciting actually. And thank you Dhar Mann for introducing me to Word farm Adventure. It’s the most fun game ever! I’ve gotten addicted to it and I love when they introduce me to new words along with easy and simple meaning that help me understand what the word mean
I knew he was Asian, but when she said she’s from Vietnam, I got so excited, cuz I’m Vietnamese, and I feel like people often forget about Vietnam. And she said it right, cuz most people call it, v-et-nom, when it’s v-et-nam
as an Asian American who grew up being bullied for ethnic food my mom would pack me, this hit real close to home... I'm happy seeing actual growth in Kyle in this short
As a victim of racism, I say this is wrong. I am Mexican and I have a lot of friends who are Asian and I really love them. We all need to end racism and spread love around the world.
I'm actually a Vietnamese person, and people at school would literally shuffle their desks away from mine. Whenever I brought salad rolls, pho, fish, etc. they would be disgusted by the food. I can relate to this, and it makes me upset thinking about it.

As a Vietnamese, although I've never got made fun of my english cause I learn English as learning Vietnamese growing up. But I got bullied by the way I looked . This is so reality and really heartwarming. I would really appreciate it if Dhar Mann make more kinds of videos like this!
IM SO SO SORRY I LITERALLY PRODUCED TEARS. THE BEGINNING GOT ME EVERY TIME😢 U don’t smell Your not a “geek” Your food isn’t gross And u have the best personality ever ❤ FRIENDS PLZ
As a Vietnamese, when I went to school was bullied because of my food, the way I looked, and the way I spoke, I’m more fluent in English now but I still get my accent sometimes i get bullied for it but I just ignores them and I learn that my culture is amazing the way it is. (btw NEVER disrespected fish sauce it’s amazing.)
My friend and I were making food one time and she was like we should try fish sauce on it I said sure and then we got pretty obsessed 😂 We made a big container and took it to scl and our class at first was like ew then they tried it...... We made it every Friday after that 😂😂😂😂
Participating in a foreign exchange program is actually great. It helps to open one's perspective of another country and get a taste of their education, food, culture and lifestyle and how does it compare and differ from ours. Done it before, and I enjoyed it, and still misses it till today.
I love how in 3:55 he says ''playing a game?'' it was to quiet, so they had to record it again louder. And keep up the work Dhar Mann your story's sometimes inspire me to stand up to myself. I got bullied 2 years ago in 3rd grade that i got bullyed that I was overweight, but I was the normal weight for a 9 year old. And I used to come home crying. But you inspired me to stand up for ourselves and now Keeshawn and me are friends!
As an international student in New Zealand, this is so accurate to me. Every time I had my Thai food and sometimes it’s smell bad for them but it’s smell good for me 😂 they always walked away and have a dead look at me. But some of my friends don’t really care and love to try my food so I’m happy for someone that really don’t mind.
I am a "nerd" at school, and I used to be bullied by it. But I think being a nerd is the best thing that could ever happen to a kid. The cool kids in school will be the bad adults, and the nerds will be the cool adults.
I am Vietnamese and looking back, most of the kids at my school avoided me. I was kind of oblivious to it then, but now I realize how many kids nowadays take differences so seriously! I mean just because someone is from somewhere other than the US or likes learning, does NOT mean they are a dork. I hope many kids can learn at a young age to understand the importance of helping others feel included along with trying new things because as they grow up things like "nerds" or "weirdos" will become apparent. The worst part of my elementary school expreriences was feeling embarrassed or scared when me and my mom brought food to school because I have seen my very classmates make disgusted faces at food that forgein students brought. I would hate for any students in the future to have to be afraid of sharing their culture.
Man, I went in tears when i saw how Thien was getting punched, it felt like he was actually really scared and you can see him about to tear up, great acting.
as an asian living in england this is very very true. Us asians get discriminated and bullied so much and i can confirm that this happens alot in england. I was very glad to see dhar promoting awareness on this.
i relate to this so much. i'm a korean and when the one time i went to america, i got mocked for my language, (note the time i went, my english was weak.)i got harassed, got told i wasn't welcome, people even went to the point to squint their eyes at me and mock me by saying "how do you even see with those". i've dealt with racism and it's so creepy and so hurtful.
Bestie it's alright! Ignore those mf idiots who've got nothing better to do with their life. I wanna let you know that you rock! Don't let any of their words get to you...💜✨ And I absolutely love Korean culture, and the language is one of my most favorite parts!
It just boils my blood when people assume im chinese just because im asian. then when i bring in some type of fish or something there so annoying and make such a big deal out of it. literally all they eat for lunch is pizza and sandwhiches. like keep gagging ill shove your stupid lunchable in your crusty nostrils.
@@mellymaee ikr? if we eat anything other than western food, it's always "gross" and "disgusting" and those fuckers are the same people who say kimchi is their dish. 💀 why eat pizza when you actually have culture with actual food?

Though I dont particularly watch your content, this video stood out to me. As a foreign student from Asia, I relate to this. Thank you Dhar Mann for showing the racism and xenophobia that is so normalized these days.
"Is that how people are like in america?" - Oh Gosh yes. The two times I went there, first to study in South Dakota and the second to work in Miami, I met great people, most of them foreigners like myself. In general I was met with racism, bullying, segregation and insults. So yes, not all people are like that in America, but racism directed to foreigners is too common to be a real problem.
I cried through most of this video. My heart hurt to see Thien's reactions to being bullied. Happy tears when Kyle finally came around. How wonderful for two people from different cultures to share experiences. It really does make one a better well-rounded individual. Well done Dhar and cast!!!
I am actually so happy to see other ethnicities being included in Dhar Mann‘s videos, I am also Vietnamese so this made me feel a little bit more seen, because most people don’t think of Vietnam when they are thinking of Asian countries. ❤️

That made me feel I want to get revenge but a wise talisman once told me You shouldnt worry about others think about you and don't let any make you ashamed for who you are and you should never judge someone based on their race, ethnicity, or background. To be honest viewers don't deserve to stereotyped or fat shamed or judged base ot he color of thier skin.

As someone who's brother also left for the Military, I understand what he's going through. I miss my brother and almost burst into tears when his brother surprised him.
Absolutely 💯 % sad how people treat others. Thank goodness this did happen when I was growing up to any of the kids in our class that had their heritage from places such as Thailand, China, Vietnam, Japan. I only started seeing it in middle school when an ex friend of mine, who is born here in America to an American dad and Korean mom, got teased mainly because of her weight but because she was "different" I am glad that dhar shows different is unique and awesome.
