In this video we go over a BETTER way to memorize the fretboard.
Most people teaching this concept teach patterns and shapes to memorize the fretboard... But the problem with this approach is that it will make you dependent on always using these tools to "deduce" where notes are.
My way subverts needing to even memorize the musical alphabet or understand sharps or flats in order to get you playing...
We also cover the basics of reading sheet music for guitar and how to quickly teach yourself to read notes.
And we do all of this in a gamified way which guarantees you will learn far faster than with other methods. 😉
    Enjoy!

Almost all of your videos have helped me with my guitar learning. I've been learning for about a year now at 25 years old, and honestly, your videos are a great help. When I say almost all of your videos, it's because I honestly haven't seen them all. I'm not trying to come here and lie by saying I'm your biggest fan, but I'm always keeping an eye on what you upload because at this point, I'm very sure that any video you post will help me in some way. I hope your channel skyrockets to fame because you truly deserve it!

      Thanks much, man. 😁
      Keep up the hard work!!
The better you get, the more often the little glimmers of seeing yourself sound awesome only get more and more frequent.

Awesome video as usual Matt. I’m super reluctant to put anything sticky on my nice guitars. I have a cheaper I benefit, maybe I could do that one. Thanks so much for producing this one.

Thanks! Yeah do it on a cheaper guitar or just do a bunch of research on what finish your guitar has on it and how easy it would be to clean.
Different guitars have different finishes which is why I specifically didn't advise on what cleaning products to use.
I think it's safe so say you're highly unlikely to "ruin" a guitar.

Love your videos, but way above my musical understanding. My goal is to get to a level where everything you say makes sense.

@Matt, I tried to order that sticker you suggest for learning the notes… but it doesn’t ships to Belgium.. is there an alternative you suggest? 🎸🤘! Your channel is awesome!

      Thanks! 🙂
I've never been to Belgium so I can't say. I'm sure there's another common retailer?
You may be able to order on Etsy with international shipping. I recently ordered some decals from India. Excellent quality.
You don't have to get the EXACT same ones I get.

I learned by singing the notes while playing the scale in any key

Not a bad way to do it. I think I had a friend in high school who did that.
