I don't really get the whole idea behind this as an attraction... Firstly, I love Jimmy Fallon, but I think I'm an anomaly as a British person to even actually know who Jimmy Fallon is. His show doesn't air outside of the US (AFAIK) and so it seems like an odd IP on which to base an entire attraction, not to mention that a lot of the in-jokes (that panda, those singing guys etc) I didn't really get having not seen much of the show, and I think it'll be the same for most if not all international visitors. Secondly, aside from NBC-Universal being one big company, I fail to see how a chat show lends itself to a motion ride at a theme park....?! And thirdly, at a time when they're already getting huge flak for producing nothing but screen-based '4D' motion attractions (Kong, Fast & Furious, Transformers, Simpsons, Minions and now this...), it's quite the slap in the face for Universal to say "ok, we hear what all our customers are saying, but hey, have another screen-based motion attraction!". I just want to grab their bosses by their big fat heads and shout "HEY! No more! You said *Ride* The Movies, remember?!!"
Rachel Kinvig When they announced details about the ride, they stated that it would be "The world's first Flying Theater" which made people (including me) to believe the ride would operate much like Soarin. Seeing now that it does not, they probably were going along the lines with Jimmy Fallon taking guest flying through New York City in The Tonight Show theater, thus making it the world's first of its kind. I too was disappointed that it did not end up as a flying theater. It would have probably made a better ride.
Colour blindness affects a lot of people too! I guess it would be easy to fix if they wrote the card colour on the card too and announced it when the lights change, but it doesn't look like that's the case.
They should have the color on the card and have a message after the chime going like "if you have a green card, please ascend the staircase" or something. I agree

I agree, the museum part on the lower level is amazing!! I love that they have a history exhibit that pays homage to all the hosts, because whether or not you see it as "too commercial" in nature (someone actually commented on that elsewhere), The Tonight Show brand is steeped in history. I honestly felt emotional seeing Johnny Carson's display. The hat, the suit... wow. Truly impressive. He was truly a legend like no other. The interactive nature of the queue is wonderful and will make long waits seem shorter. I hope more attractions going forward employ this technique. The one thing I'm wondering, and perhaps you can shed some light on it, do you know if will they be changing the content of what is shown in the queue? I imagine The Ragtime Gals will be changing their song list (maybe one less focused on... well, the bootay :-)) I'm hoping they're going to rotate the footage of Jimmy's pre-show with new content every now and then. Tim, thanks for the excellent coverage on the new ride. As always, you hit it out of the park. :-)
I would say that depends on who's going...when my kids were small, it was disney because their rides were more kid friendly...but once they turned teenagers it was US and IOA because of bigger faster rides...i.e. Hulk, Rip Ride Rock It
It would be nice with Bill Paxton's passing if they could eventually make a new Twister experience. Twister is one of my favorite movies so I always really enjoyed that ride.
Yep, and every time they announce another new ride we get excited all over again, and then get let down yet again. King Kong. Jimmy Fallon. Fast & Furious. And soon they'll be closing other great rides like E.T. to do more based on Warcraft or Bourne or whatever other big franchises they hope will be huge again.....

Johnny Carson's headdress was for his skit "Carnac the Magnificent". He and Ed McMahon, (85 air combat missions in Korea, 6 medals) were great together during these skits. As a kid I watched Steve Allen, and I believe he was truly the funniest and most intelligent of all the Tonight Show hosts.
My other big issue is what about us who actually already wear glasses? Ever try that with a second pair over your regular ones? It's freaking ridiculous. They should honestly just sell a clip on for those of us with glasses to buy and wear regardless of the 3d ride so that we don't have to deal with that crap. Plus the ragtime gals thing sucked. They should do a show on stage with all the legendary hosts interacting with each other and the audience (actors playing them) or do something similar to what Disaster had with the hologram type of Chris Walken.
A Name the first one I ever went to with my family we were so impressed and we still remember it we think it's cool. And since my mom and brother are afraid of heights they get a chance to experience a ride.

I love Jimmy! That was the coolest ride waiting area ever, the child swap area was awesome too. I haven't been to Universal Orlando, yet, but this just makes me want to go more!
A lot of people are saying that this ride is cheesy. But that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be a parody of most 3D rides (basically like the Simpsons but the Simpsons isn't in 3D but it still parodied most theme park attraction). Throughout the ride he keeps talking about how he should use more 3D effects. There's a lot of inside jokes from the show on the ride and that's where a lot of the humor comes from. People in the fan base and people out of this fanbase can all enjoy the ride. I love this ride. I've rode it 6 times and it's still in soft opening. I love the wait-less queue. Its so much better than waiting in a straight line for two hours on your phone or playing hand games with the person next to you. And don't worry all you color blind peeps. All the employees will yell out the color of the lights as they change. The ragtime gals, being from a choir, are musical genius. It's cool how they always have a fresh set list. So you never know what you're gonna get. Hashtag The Panda is great! He/She is so hilarious! He/She once performed a protest because he wasn't allowed on the ride I was laughing so much! The ride itself is beautiful too. I won't go into much detail so I won't spoil it but it's so hilarious. I'm just really in love with this ride. Not to mention the employees are so nice. They want to be your friends. Other ride employees need to learn from Fallon employees. Overall I love this ride. It's not my favorite (The Mummy always has a special place in my heart). But it's the closest second of all time.
My main issue with this ride is that it will become 'dated' very quickly. The bits are always changing on his show and the humor is mostly based on current events. I think this ride will feel old in just a couple of years.

This is amazing! I was lucky enough to see his real show in January and the experience for loading the ride is so much like the real deal when you load in for the studio audience. It's really accurate to the actual NBC Studios!
Another thing about where the Bill Paxton shirt is outside of the ride line. In the window right next to that one, that is a stapler on a desk that has letters pasted on top that say "B. Paxton" ^_^
I love the idea for the queue-that's-not-a-queue. I'm not sure how it will hold up to repeat riding (particularly on quiet days), or how well it'd work on other rides, but it's definitely a nice idea and beats zig-zagging back and forth in a queue pen.
i went on this today and... idk how i feel about it. the queue is, hands down, the BEST in all of universal. i waiting an hour and it felt like 15 minutes. but the ride is a little... underwhelming. the movements are EXTREMELY minimal and it doesn't really feel like what the screen is showing, kind of like just sitting in an IMAX movie theater. it was fun but i expected more.
I was worried you have to know the show to really 'get' a lot of the in-jokes in the ride, which is pretty restrictive considering it doesn't air outside the US and most of Universal's visitors are from places like the UK...... Like that Panda, is he meant to be a character or something?

I think the wait system is somewhat cool, but I feel like there is going to be quite a bit of pre-show line cutting, like how on rides like tower of terror people will push their way through the pre-show room to be closer to the door. I think this is somewhat like the system Disney has been using for some of their meet and greets. Seems like they should have added some benches though. Also I'm glad they didn't leave Conan out completely.

Apparently the original concept for the ride was supposed to be similar to the tech from the forbidden journey hogwarts ride (absolutely fantastic simulation ride), which uses the flailing Robotech Arms, all while moving along a track. I guess it could never materialize with the space they had to work with, I enjoyed this ride, the work that was done to mimic 30 rock was uncanny. Even the bathrooms on the side were pretty spot on.
Suren 力 I rode Kong when it soft opened and while it was cool to look at and the effects were great, I feel like it was too short. I think people should still give it a shot whether other people say they like it or not. You shouldn't base something by someone else's opinion. But if you want to ride it, I recommend waiting til it dies now a bit so you don't have to wait for that long.
Came down from Michigan and got to ride today! We thought it was pretty good. I suffer from migraines and have some motion issues, but thought the ride was fairly smooth and well done. The que however, was very well done and made the wait time enjoyable.
I find Jimmy Fallen really annoying and this is definitely a ride I will pass over every time. I'm still VERY aggravated with Universal for getting good rid of the Beetle juice show. Also, being partially color blind, I would be unable to tell what color card I got.
I'm not quite understanding as so why you think that? The lights match the color of the card, so even if you do not see the correct color that the card is, the lights will be the same color as the card. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that is how I'm understanding it.
Paige, colorblindness comes in many different forms. For some people, they switch or misperceive colors, which is what you're talking about. However, others (like my two uncles) can't perceive colors at all, and instead see things in shades of grey. So, they would see lighter or darker shades of grey, but that doesn't mean they could tell if the shade of grey on their card matched the shade of grey on the lights. It would be very difficult for them to distinguish. However, Big T did respond very harshly to your confusion, and I do understand how this could be confusing.
Havent never been on the ride, Ive heard both positive and negative things about it. I do like the color coordination so when you see your color, you move to the next room. Smart!

Here's the thing I don't mind a 4D ride. but I hate 4D rides like Shrek, Minion Mayhem, or now the Jimmy Fallon ride. If it's gonna be a 4D ride make it like Spiderman or either of the Harry Potter rides. Those rides perfectly mixed screens with real life movements
I personally love Jimmy Fallon and have for awhile, (considering one of my favorite movies is Fever Pitch) so I'm excited to ride it, although I don't know how well of a concept it was for an actual ride at Universal.
A ride based on a dudes tv show, i dont get it. what next a ride based on a breakfast show? Total waste of building space. Gut the place and build a more action based attraction around a tv show/movie everyone recognises. The execs who green lit this ride need a swift kick to the groin.

I heard that Universal has a 3 year contract with Fallon. If the contract is renewed after year 3, then the ride stays. If not, the ride will run for about 6 months and then close.
It's hard to tell - do you think there would be room for seating in the first waiting area (so that people don't sit against the exhibits) , and do you think that would be a good idea?

Twister was better. Universal got bored with making rides out of material effects. Everything now is 4D and a sit down ride.

I think this is somewhat like the system Disney has been using for some of their meet and greets. Seems like they should have added some benches though.
Also I'm glad they didn't leave Conan out completely.

Apparently the original concept for the ride was supposed to be similar to the tech from the forbidden journey hogwarts ride (absolutely fantastic simulation ride), which uses the flailing Robotech Arms, all while moving along a track.
I guess it could never materialize with the space they had to work with, I enjoyed this ride, the work that was done to mimic 30 rock was uncanny. Even the bathrooms on the side were pretty spot on.

Soft opened Kong, and was horribly disappointed. Long wait for a short, boring ride.

Suren 力 I rode Kong when it soft opened and while it was cool to look at and the effects were great, I feel like it was too short.
I think people should still give it a shot whether other people say they like it or not. You shouldn't base something by someone else's opinion. But if you want to ride it, I recommend waiting til it dies now a bit so you don't have to wait for that long.
Glad to see Orlando based barbershop quartet singers will have other career choices if they get sick of singing When Irish Eyes Are Smiling 😂

Came down from Michigan and got to ride today! We thought it was pretty good. I suffer from migraines and have some motion issues, but thought the ride was fairly smooth and well done. The que however, was very well done and made the wait time enjoyable.
I find Jimmy Fallen really annoying and this is definitely a ride I will pass over every time. I'm still VERY aggravated with Universal for getting good rid of the Beetle juice show.
Also, being partially color blind, I would be unable to tell what color card I got.
The lights will flash the same color as your card, so even if you perceive the wrong color, the lights will match your card!

I'm not quite understanding as so why you think that? The lights match the color of the card, so even if you do not see the correct color that the card is, the lights will be the same color as the card. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that is how I'm understanding it.
Paige, colorblindness comes in many different forms. For some people, they switch or misperceive colors, which is what you're talking about. However, others (like my two uncles) can't perceive colors at all, and instead see things in shades of grey. So, they would see lighter or darker shades of grey, but that doesn't mean they could tell if the shade of grey on their card matched the shade of grey on the lights. It would be very difficult for them to distinguish. However, Big T did respond very harshly to your confusion, and I do understand how this could be confusing.

Havent never been on the ride, Ive heard both positive and negative things about it. I do like the color coordination so when you see your color, you move to the next room. Smart!

Here's the thing I don't mind a 4D ride.
but I hate 4D rides like Shrek, Minion Mayhem, or now the Jimmy Fallon ride. If it's gonna be a 4D ride make it like Spiderman or either of the Harry Potter rides. Those rides perfectly mixed screens with real life movements
I personally love Jimmy Fallon and have for awhile, (considering one of my favorite movies is Fever Pitch) so I'm excited to ride it, although I don't know how well of a concept it was for an actual ride at Universal.
The decor inside looks Exactly like what you'd see in the actual 30 Rockefeller Center if you're waiting for the Studio Tour there

A ride based on a dudes tv show, i dont get it. what next a ride based on a breakfast show? Total waste of building space. Gut the place and build a more action based attraction around a tv show/movie everyone recognises. The execs who green lit this ride need a swift kick to the groin.
hOnG k0nG fu3y Yeah, but it's a property that Universal actually owns. In other words, they get to put in an attraction that they don't have to pay a licensing fee for. And it's advertising for the show. Whomever came up with the idea for this probably got a nice bonus.

I heard that Universal has a 3 year contract with Fallon. If the contract is renewed after year 3, then the ride stays. If not, the ride will run for about 6 months and then close.
