Richard Harris was a master of putting the written word to either music or film. The Harris/Webb tapes contain some of the best music and should be a must listen for both the old and the young. RIP Richard Harris, though a talent like Mr. Harris will live forever~~~Rock On

I simply love this album. You can see him via TH-cam interacting with his best pal Peter OTool on David Lettermen TV show.

He and Peter O'Toole were master storytellers. I thought I had done some things when drunk, but I was a lightweight compared to these two. So glad Mr. Harris and Mr. O'Toole brought happiness into your life---Rock on my friend

Something very rare here. A symphony.

a chilling song.. I remember listening to this when i was 17 or so and i would buy everything and anything by Jimmy Webb..now listening, wistfully ,to these lyrics it has become haunting.wanting to be that kid again when the yards went on forever. Webb was at his creative peak in this period..i always wish Webb and Harris would have teamed up for one more album of this strangeness and beauty.

I, too, have my original album as an 8 year old. I was fortunate to sing the Children’s chorus (latin) in this song, These arrangements were so of their time (late 60’s early 70’s). The string arrangements (Webb) were so great (this song in particular). I remember Webb was in studio though Harris had already put down his vocal track. Harpsichord, trumpets, Webb’s incredible melody, and one of the most unique and wholly theatrical vocalists ever. There is no one like Harris. Incredibly skilled, clean, pitch perfect.

@@drbobperkins You really were a kid singer in this song?? Where was this recorded.... in southern California? It sounds so European...that or just not American. Some of my favorite music this song is.
