    Sometimes you aren't ready, mentally or emotionally, to hear certain songs. And you need time to be ready. I was avoiding crutch, didn't know why until I saw it. And took me a few days + reaction videos from reactors I knew would be helpful. And writing about it in the comments, getting helpful reactions back from the community. This was my first meeting with Ren's music, Sick boi, and I loved and hated it. The truth of it pained me, but the relief of hearing that truth from someone else their mouth was incredible. No matter what order you listen to them, pick what you feel is right. ❤

    As someone said I think the pig represents the medical industry...(they are like butchers with your mind and body), it represents the music industry but over all I think it represents greed. Ren hates the greedy corporations making money off the little man's back. It is said in many different ways in Ren's music. He will never get radio play because he calls out to many and steps on many toes. In Murderer he was playing a roll as a bad guy and the pig was his side kick helping him do the dirty deed.

    Ren said the meaning of the pig is deeply personal to him, and wants everyone to form their own interpretation. For me, it's the embodiment of excess, when good things are consumed and destroyed by greed.
    This song can be hard to listen to because it's a portrayal of all the noises and voices in your head fighting for attention, but offering no answers.
    The end part really hits me hard because he's acknowledging that he's using up his internal resources to make music while he's sick, while criticizing the world for doing the same thing. Powerful stuff.
    And I think you should definitely try Hi Ren again, viewing it as an autobiography of someone that you now know 😁

      @redheadedneighbor No problem :) it's part of the Ren roller-coaster, one second we're trying not to spit out our drink from laughing and 2 seconds later we're about to cry. Such is genuine art...
      Plus you are the one putting yourself out there, making yourself vulnerable ❤️ You have the right to feel however you feel, period. If anything I would wonder if you were human if some of these songs didn't throw you a bit, they throw me repeatedly and I have have as much life experience as someone couldn't want, I think ren is only about a year older with a shockingly similar set of traits and history

    It took me a couple of listens too. The analogy of "R*pe the earth of all resources, and we bleed it for gold" and subsequent lyrics, with the Lyme disease treatment effect on his body is such a strong message at the end. Especially when you think of destruction of the Amazon rain forest etc. The pig metaphor, reading comments in many reactions, they are quite varied. I recall Ren in a You Tube video with Black Pegasus, when asked, he said he loves the open interpretation he reads in the comments and therefore prefers to maintain the mystery!

    • @redheadedneighbor
      @redheadedneighbor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you absolutely should check out "hi Ren" again! the fact that you're even asking the question suggests to me that if you don't give it another try, it will keep nagging at you till you do. "hi Ren" is unusual in it's execution and i have this whole check list of common reactions that are observable amongst reactors that kind of make me giggle to myself a bit, mostly because i wonder if i had the same reactions when i first watched it. this time you have a metric fkton of context that you didn't have the first time you watched it which i suspect will encourage you to move past the unusual style of the song in order to try to understand the content of it. i'm really confident that you will appreciate the content even if you're not overly fond of the style. at the end of the day, it's totally your choice and nobody is going to judge you whatever you decide.
    this was a great reaction, thanks for sharing and much love to you and yours.

      The thing is, I love unusual music. Fusions of styles. Lol certain country rap is one of my favorite genres.

    This was the 2nd Ren video I ever saw.
    It made me REALLY nervous.
    I thought that his music was ANGRY.
    I'm really NOT into that.
    I didn't know his story or why he was angry.
    Having heard all of his music now.
    I was totally WRONG about my first impression.
    I would like to see you give Hi Ren another chance.
    The worst that could happen, you still won't like it.
    It's not like you are going to stop liking him because of one song, right?

    • @redheadedneighbor
      @redheadedneighbor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s funny because I can’t imagine not liking Ren. Lol I am absolutely going to rewatch that performance. With fresh eyes.
      It’s interesting that you had a strong response to his angry sound yet somehow you kept going back. That is what happened to me. I had a visceral reaction to what I didn’t understand, I suppose. But there was something about him.
      As someone who has struggled to share feelings, sometimes music about feelings was hard for me to listen to. Through the last three years some of the more intense music has taught me to express myself better. It has been healing.

  • @johnnyeproductions

    Ren has not and refuses to comment on what the pig truly stands for... as the brilliant thinker that he is, he has said, "It could be different for everybody. It could be about anticapitalistic ideations or greed, Government, form of control.. It's open for interpretation and I kinda like it that way." - That was paraphrasing btw, not word for word but I agree, let the ppl have it stand for something as our views are never always going to be aligned

    If you didn't like "Hi Ren" you should certainly revisit this masterpiece. I have literally watched more than 300 reactions to "Hi Ren," and you are one of only a handful of reactors who said they didn't like the song. "Hi Ren" is not so much of a song as it is a performance art piece, and maybe you should approach it as such if you decide to watch it again. "Hi Ren" is not a song I have in my playlist because I think the piece needs to be experienced in full, visually and musically, not just listened to by itself. To me, and millions of others, it is a brilliant performance.
    The only other performance that is even more mind-blowing is "The Tale of Jenny & Screech." This trilogy is a prime example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling; I heard the trilogy likened to a Shakespearean tragedy many times and would have to agree. The trilogy is haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The story is best watched as a whole, i.e. the full video from Ren's channel. Every single reactor I have watched who reacted to the trilogy piecemeal ultimately said that he or she made a mistake because it is a short story in three acts.
