Hoi An's SECRET STREET FOOD Scene 🇻🇳 A Local's Guide to Vietnamese Food 🍛

- Hoi An is touristy but also home to incredible local traditional Vietnamese food. It can be difficult to find with so many tourist restaurants so I went on a free walking tour with Minh from Guru Walk (bit.ly/guruwalks). This tour is perfect for foodies who want to explore the local food scene and try some of the best dishes Vietnam has to offer.
Our first stop is Bánh Mì 304, a favorite shop for Banh Mi that supplies most of the city with their bread. Unlike the famous Anthony Bourdain Banh Mi shop, there's no line, and it's considered better by locals.
We then move on to Thịt Nướng Cô Lợi Hội An, a street food vendor in the middle of the tourist area that most tourists miss. Here, we try Thịt Nướng, which is grilled meat for only 10,000 VND or $0.43 USD.
Minh also shared with us why people sit on those small short seats. It's because street food is actually illegal in Vietnam, and they need something easy to pick up and run with if the authorities come around.
Our next stop is Mrs. Bong's stall in Hoi An Market, where we try Bánh Đập, a crushed rice cake for only 5,000 VND or $0.21 USD.
We then move on to a famous local spot, Chí Mà Phù, for Chè Mè Đen, a sweet black sesame soup for only 10,000 VND or $0.43 USD.
We also visit the Meraki Bakery for Choux Pastry and Eclair filled with fresh passionfruit for only 7,000 VND or $0.30.
Next up is the iconic food of Hoi An, Cao Lầu. We visit Restaurant Cao Lầu Bá Lễ for a bowl of this delicious noodle dish for only 35,000 VND or $1.49.
Finally, we end our tour at La.Kao Teahouse, a modern teahouse where we try rare teas both hot and cold-brewed.
Overall, this tour was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hoi An who wants to explore the local food scene. Thank you, Minh, for an unforgettable day!!

Happy birthday 🎂 love that red dress! Thank you for this. I am now booking Minh for our tour next month.
Minh is absolutely amazing and he’ll also do custom tours. You’ll really see a different side of Hoi An which can be quite touristy.
These passion fruit pastries looks so yummy.
I would have never ordered it on my own because fruit doesn't always do well in pastries but it was pure passionfruit heaven.
🎉🎉🎉Happy Birthday to you 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!
thx's for the Vietnam vlog's, we are going there in Dec & Jan doing a north to south trip 40 days, we are looking forward to more of your handy hints on things to do & eats, nice to see a couple similar to us as lm an Aussie "Bule", my wife is from Jakarta & my 16 yr old son is ""gardo ras campuran""
Oh very cool! I’m Canadian but I’ve traveled Latin America expensively because of my job, my website Bacon is Magic. During the pandemic I started shooting video because I was stuck in Canada so it was a good time to learn. But after a year of suffering through the process of editing I hired an editor in Salatiga to edit my videos while in South America and he really urged me to come to Indonesia for the food,
I have lots of food videos from Jakarta with my friend Aloy (also my editor’s best friend) and I met Alan in Padang after a mutual friend invited us both to breakfast because he knew we’d hit it off.
Where are you living in Australia?
Tips for you, you should go from south to north
Thanks for Sharing the good video.
Thanks for watching!
That food looks delicious 😋 Amazing Vietnamese food 😊
It was so good
Great info, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Ayngelina, we are from BC 🇨🇦, eh! And we watched you when we were in Manta Ecuador for 6 months and have spent 4 months in Hoi Ann..really enjoy your enjoyment of food and showing us around. We are hoping to go back to Vietnam and Hoi An this winter.
Oh I’m thrilled you stuck with me after leaving Ecuador, thank you! I can understand why you would want to go back as Vietnam is such an underrated destination for expats and snowbirds. Next week is one more Hoi An video and I was so sad to leave because my quang is one of my favourite noodles in Vietnam…I share those next week!
i love vietnam food tour and general tour videos. Keep em coming. 💯
Thanks so much for the kind words, next week is a video about Hoi An although it also included traditional food because it’s such an important part of Vietnam 😊
@ayngelina i can happily live off Vietnamese cuisine for several lifetime 😇 so no complaints 😉 👌 😄 😊
Good people always love good food!
Hello Ayngelina & many thanks 4 tour!
Next week I have more noodles to share! One of my favourite in Vietnam along with cao lau
Hi Angelina, great channel, Alan is a lucky man,iv never heard you complain about being on a scooter ,hope to see you guys on your travels one day,I'm coming to Vietnam next May for 6 months
How can you complain in such a beautiful country. What are your plans when you visit
@ayngelina no plans,go with the flow,I'm from nz and want to spend every southern winter in asia,iv lived in Thailand for 4 years,
Tell me,have you come across any oysters in Vietnam? I found some great ones in Thailand,I'm a seafood nut
I did see oysters but never properly stored on ice. I come from the ocean in Canada and so I’m a bit picky about seafood being on ice. We might come to Thailand this autumn but not sure where to go. Any thoughts?
@ayngelina I agree about storing seafood properly,I'm going to find a fishing village and get them coming off the boat, I'm over Thailand its become too expensive, and too touristy
The tea tasting looks really interesting 🤓
It was so cool to see something like this, I've never had a cold brewed tea then tried it hot.
I saw on the beach in Da Nang, early morning, people collecting jellyfish. I suppose they eat it 😀
I post also a video on my channel 🙂🙂
Ooh I’ll go have a look!
