  • The Posture Cane promises to provide better balance and mobility, helping you walk in a more natural, upright position. But does it really work? Kurt Aaron puts it to the test.

Very helpful! Great idea to test with seniors who use a cane!

You should gift one of these canes to each of the participants

I agree. That was a tease. Of course maybe they aren’t allowed to unless the families give the go ahead. Nursing home are very restrictive over somethings. So they don’t get sued.

You can buy cane tips that make any cane stand on its own.

First, they make traditional canes with a foot that stands on its own. Second, habits are hard to break (leaning over for support) for instance. Proper use of a walker does not have the body all stopped, it's how the walker is adjusted and the human factor "posture". I spent time not only in a wheelchair since doctors felt I would likely never walk again, but I used a walker and crutches to get around early on. Walker first to get me up out of the chair (and in the bathroom standing, not crawling)
Then crutches, MANY pairs for several years, then a single "crutch like) cane with a foot, it stood on its own. So now years later, I have many canes, including my very first from exactly 20 years ago. I also have a tall staff walking stick I made, and as far as I can see, this "posture cane" is just the same concept without the fancy top portion of the staff (mine is all carved) and of course a platform type of foot.
I've not tried this cane (I might if it were offered for a real review) but as for buying one, I don't walk all hunched over with my typical cane as it is so where's the benefit I'm thinking.
Is it just another "cool factor" item?

This is a News channel. Just reviewing products because people ask them too. They don’t have money in the game. That’s why the went to a nursing home to have people that truly use a cane try it out.

This is a dangerous device. There is NO way it can support you if you need it to in order to prevent you from falling. If you need to stand taller with a cane, simply adjust your cane to better serve you ergonomically.

It's more like a walking stick. I think it would work just fine. Probably better, in fact.
