I can't tell you how happy I am to see that you finished this job but the most important thing to me is the ramp your son built for you!! 1.) It's really good for his confidence. 2.) You will forever have those memories and memories worth more than anything in the world. 3.) GREAT JOB, SAM!!!
What a fine, handsome workshop building Sam. Your friends, family and Jimney were absolutely correct to keep pushing you on the finishing touches of your build. A work to be proud of. Good call on the ramp! Can’t wait to see what comes out of the workshop in the future.
This has been a fun few months (for us). The workshop looks fantastic! I like the ceiling for sure. The heaters you have shown are bigger but similar to one we used at work. Worked very well at heating a spray booth that had three walls exposed to the outside; kept it nice and warm, no problem. For the wall with the windows; maybe a show & tell table for demos on new lasers and such. A dedicated place for the setup and filming of videos so as not to disrupt the rest of your business setup? Anyway, really appreciate the effort put forth by you and family and taking the time to bring us along for the ride. Thank you!
First CONGRATULATIONS!!! My way of thinking is that sub standard plywood flooring should be cut out and replaced. It will nag you until you do. Get it behind you now. Totally happy for you and your family. You got your first class shop and they got their Dad and Husband back 🙂
You may just be a trendsetter. I would and probably will use the chip lap-style ceiling in my next workshop build. In fact, there may be a portion of the house that I may rebuild like a laundry room and a mudroom that it will be going into. Trendsetter, you may just be!
In the past I have mentioned a couple of things but I can see you have most of the things already thought out and don't listen to a whole lot of us. Here is one thing I will say that I would do to the shop NOW. Before you move anything in, lay down carpet. It will help sound proof the room and believe it or not, easier to keep clean. I have some in my shop and I would not have it any other way. I learned it from Stumpy Nub when he put it in his shop. A vacuum when needed is all you have to do. Helps with the temp in the shop also.
I put RustOlium oil-based paint on my plywood floor. Wears like iron and looks great. It will take a couple of days to dry since it is oil-based. Two gallons would do your floor. A second coat is optional, it would make it better since the wood is pretty dry.
Man am i every happy to see how far things have come along !i know the amount of work and perseverance it requires , the planning and execution, your layout is brilliant simple and clean man ! Beautiful job!!! From a fellow builder ! And your sons idea is genius chip off the ol block 😎you the MAN SAM!
Sam, I was going to suggest you put a thin molding over those ceiling joints. Like 1/4" thick x 1" wide or so. Painted the same color. That would fix the issue and give you a bit of an artistic feel.
Congratulations Sam you did an outstanding job. Those heaters really look interesting and hope we will see a few more videos about them. Take care and will be watching for the move in videos.
It looks great Sam, you did awesome job. I'm glad that you finished it up on the windows. Because you know you probably would've never gone back to finish it up So now it's done and that's a huge accomplishment .
My only advice is put wheels on your equipment till you settle on their final location because you will move things around a lot at first.. And as for the laser engravers... I hang mine on the wall (the manageable size ones) and when I need them I have wall attached tables that open up(then pull away from the wall) and I put the laser engravers on them to do the job.. Other than that ....Don't Sweat the small stuff!!! :) Oh and I also added a ceiling hoist through my attic door to lift heavy stuff when needed... using a cheap Harbor freight hoist!
I vision "rest area" in one of the corners with TV and comfortable seating. After all, this shop could also be a "mancave" especially with three men in your family. Sam you are such a good spokesperson. I love listening to your explanations. Such a good job on this project.
Thanks for this playlist, Good to see it done. Slight workshop envy. One thing I didnt see was the gable ends getting enclosed. Would have like to see how you enclosed them.
Hi Sam! It's really nice to see your new workshop being completed! I'm excited to see what wonderful things you create in it. You are very talented! I do know who one of your friends that kept pushing you to keep going, I have watched their channel for many years! The first letter of his name is "D"! I'll never forget the tool you made for him that was very mysterious and fun at the same time! I laughed my head off at the both of you! The peanutbutter jar cleaner! 😂 Have fun in your new workshop! 😊
Sam I rarely ever add comments but I wanted to say congratulations on completing your shop build. I enjoyed the attention to detail that you gave the entire build. The fact that you did not skimp on materials or time to do things correctly will pay dividends as the years go by. I also enjoyed the fact that you decided to keep the ramp your son built. That ramp will speak to you every time you step into your new shop. I observed your son helped through the entire build and that says volumes about him and you and your wife about being good parents. I do have some suggestions I would like to make. Before you move everything into the new space, take the time to paint the floor. This will help in shop cleanup and appearance and is much easier to do now while the shop is empty. Second, I did not see any base trim. This is certainly not necessary but will add to the appearance. A simple 1x4 would look great. Finally, I know you addressed it in the video but the ceiling still does not come up to the standard you set for the rest of the shop. I think you could use drywall compound to patch the gaps and before it completely hardens try running a stiff brush over the patch to put a grain in the compound to match the grain in the boards. Get a matching paint to cover your repairs and the ceiling will again match your eye for detail. I do not mean to offend or in any way detract from your deserved sense of accomplishment, just my own OCD kicking in.
Nice job. I have to say. I reckon at least some of the space should be devoted to display cabinets for some cool stuff that you like, Adam Savage style. That would be awesome. 👍
I would put vinyl plank flooring down to cover any problems. Also shoot with a middle into the waves with wood glue and put some weight on it until glue is dry. This project is really kwel.!
Congratulations Sam. Like you said. Tonne of hard graft but man, the outcome is awesome. Still think a ceiling gangtry camera system would be amazing in there. Would make the filming of all your projects so much easier without having to reposition tripod's, clamp clips etc. Look forward to the work bench build. 👍
How upsetting for you about the plywood. I'm glad you were able to move forward from it. Some sort of shed relaxation spot sounds good. Also I'm sure your boys will enjoy a space to do projects of their own as and when they feel the urge. Well done and enjoy! Hi from Australia.
I love your workshop and can't wait for the connection to the other one! The ceiling looks fantastic and really helps the aesthetic. It seems like it'll help with your lighting and filming. It's also very professional looking. Great Job, Sam! Please though, don't mix and match storage too much. It will look better, function better and film better if you are consistent with colors and styles. Also, please keep the walls as clear as possible so that filming and pictures aren't clumsy and chaotic looking.
What an incredible workshop Sam! You'll have plenty room in there. Not sure if you've found your casters yet that you'll use for your mobile tables but I have bought some on Amazon that are great. Not only do they lock the wheel from turning but it locks the swivel in place too. And even with a bunch of weight on 4 wheels, they still move easily for me.
Your shop looks great Sam! I love the # of lights & receptacles. That will be a nice space to work in. Nice property too!. I'm curious about the heaters, I need something for my shop too
So the issue you had with the plywood delaminating is the exact same reason we always used osb on the floors and the roof. While the osb will still swell up when it fets wet, it will not delaminate like plywood does. Osb that has got wet and roofed over looks just fine when its done. Plywood on the other hand will have you tearing the shingle off to replace the roof sheeting
I like the ceiling but I do not know what the 4 big squares are for but it all looks good to me and the place to get into the attic space was a very good idea, I think you will not regret it!
Congratulations to and family(your faithful helpers on a job well done). Sam a thought, first and goal..don't punt. Finish the doorway/connector hall, reason #1 if the budget allows, you won't regret finishing the job #2 it will be SO much easier moving from old shop via a doorway verses hauling out the door around the old shop and up the ramp...it gets tiring all the trips. Just my observations....we aren't getting any younger. Thanks again for reading my $.02 worth.
It's a fantastic workshop space and you should be rightly proud of the hard work and final finish. Very well done and looking forward to seeing it kitted out. 👏👍👍👍
You do great work, and do it well while working alone. One question; Do you have any plans to cover the floor? Or are you going to stay with a raw plywood surface.
Awesome milestone Sam! I think you did a great job. Sure you made some minor mistakes. This build gave you experience and thought to future projects. Now your kids see this and their standards will improve as they grow. Congratulations!
🎉 YAY YOU!!! 🎉 It looks amazing Sam!!! Have fun setting up all your toys and organizing to where you can find what you're looking for. Congratulations Issac for building your Dad a ramp! 🤜 Big hugs and big love! Have a blessed week! ✌️💖🙏🇺🇲✡️✝️🙌
I can't tell you how happy I am to see that you finished this job but the most important thing to me is the ramp your son built for you!! 1.) It's really good for his confidence. 2.) You will forever have those memories and memories worth more than anything in the world. 3.) GREAT JOB, SAM!!!
Congratulations on finishing such a large project! And filming every step!
Very nice would like to see you move in.
I think completing such a massive project in just 3 months was a huge achievement Sam. It's awesome! Well Done!
No, that ramp is huge.. Father and son connections can never be overrated :)
Looks great Sam .
Congratulations on the completion.
What a fine, handsome workshop building Sam. Your friends, family and Jimney were absolutely correct to keep pushing you on the finishing touches of your build. A work to be proud of. Good call on the ramp! Can’t wait to see what comes out of the workshop in the future.
Sam, I would advise to put locking wheels on all your work tables it will help you with your workflow where you can move table to your equipment etc.
This has been a fun few months (for us). The workshop looks fantastic! I like the ceiling for sure. The heaters you have shown are bigger but similar to one we used at work. Great video Sam congratulations
Your workshop is so nice. I’d work in there all day. Thanks for sharing - I love to see what you all are doing on the homestead.
Basically from an old carpenter don't just fill it up. Give yourself time. In time you will find it getting full. Congratulations.
Wow. That was an excellent price for those guys to put that OSB and metal roofing down.
I wanna know where your fridge and thinking 🤔 recliner will go ? Probably near the big screen tv huh 👍😃. Awesome build Sam 👍👍👍👍👍.
VOLTAIRE: PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD .

You've worked so hard on this, Sam, and should be extremely proud of yourself! I hope you will have a chance to take a few days OFF!
In the past I have mentioned a couple of things but I can see you have most of the things already thought out and don't listen to a whole lot of us. So excited for the tour; here we go!
You got a hell of a deal on that roofing bid
Looks great Sam not to mention how gelous I am. Looking forward to all the great projects you will undertake. 👍👍
Good information !!! You have excellent camera presence !! There is an expression " don't let the perfect get in the way of the good "!!!
It's incredible that it's only been a few months, I've watched every part, and I'm so happy to hear that you are going to start making things for it.
Much appreciated!
You did an amazing job in 3 months.
Looks awesome! Need to paint the floors gray so your camera can white balance easier. Yellow floors are throwing it off.
What a fabulous series Sam...you and your family must be very proud (and broke)... Best wishes from Paul in the UK
Sam, I was going to suggest you put a thin molding over those ceiling joints. Like 1/4" thick x 1" wide or so. Painted the same color. That would fix the issue and give you a bit of an artistic feel.
Sam's getting things done. Keep it going and you'll be moved in, in no time
Congratulations Sam you did an outstanding job. Those heaters really look interesting and hope we will see a few more videos about them. Take care and will be watching for the move in videos.
Looks great. Baseboard trim will be a great detail. Nice work Sam.
It looks great Sam, you did awesome job. I'm glad that you finished it up on the windows. Because you know you probably would've never gone back to finish it up So now it's done and that's a huge accomplishment .
Looks awesome. Know I don’t know if I want to watch laser stuff or you building workshops hahaha love all of your content!!!!
Excellent video series! Finished project looks great...congrats. Really cool you left the ramp, hope it lasts a long time!
I learned so much. You worked your butt off. Great job.
Oh and I also added a ceiling hoist through my attic door to lift heavy stuff when needed... using a cheap Harbor freight hoist!
Great job! Cleat wall for sure! Sam, you are seriously a hard worker! That blocking would have killed lesser men, LOL!
I vision "rest area" in one of the corners with TV and comfortable seating. After all, this shop could also be a "mancave" especially with three men in your family. Sam you are such a good spokesperson. I love listening to your explanations. Such a good job on this project.
Add some 1x2 on the roof to cover up the gaps to give you that finished look
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the workshop
Excellent job Sam, I’m envious of all that space
Great Job Sam. You need to mark out a space on the wall for some ART.
That looks good. If it doesn’t negatively affect the outcome of your projects I say it doesn’t matter.
Love your new, giant workshop!
Well done!
That is sweet can’t wait to see it all up and running with the machines you have.
I forgot to mention in my other comment, congratulations sam you did a fantastic job and have a amazing new shop
Thanks for this playlist, Good to see it done. Slight workshop envy. One thing I didnt see was the gable ends getting enclosed. Would have like to see how you enclosed them.

Make sure you put plenty of coats of sealant on the floor will be easy to keep clean.
It will be enjoyable watching you move in, finding the right place for your equipment, and work on projects.
Looks soooooooooo good! You will fill the space quicker than you know. ❤❤❤❤
Sam you are too funny. Great job on the workshop
Sam, you are such a natural 'educator', very at ease, so articulate. Pleasure to listen to - laced with humour!
Nice job. I have to say.

Sam, that color on the ceiling is very calming!!! I dispise white ceilings!!!
Spectacular series. Thank you, and well done.
Congratulations Sam! Nicely done!
Nice work. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe, wai, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
it is an Amazing space, I look forward to watching more , Great Job
Looking good brother! looking forward to seeing what it's like when everything is moved in
I have shop space envy!
Looks great Sam. Well done. Very inspiring. 😊
The ramp was/is excellent my favorite
How upsetting for you about the plywood. I'm glad you were able to move forward from it.
Some sort of shed relaxation spot sounds good. Also I'm sure your boys will enjoy a space to do projects of their own as and when they feel the urge.
Well done and enjoy! Hi from Australia.
Fantastic workshop Sam, think you will regret not having sockets above worktop level but thats just my oppinion, love the ramp your boy built :)
Glad your finished but a valuable lesson, the reason we no longer use OSB or plywood, zip sheeting is a much better option
Looks Great! Look forward to seeing how you lay out equipment.
I love your workshop and can't wait for the connection to the other one! The ceiling looks fantastic and really helps the aesthetic. It seems like it'll help with your lighting and filming. Great job Sam. Really nice. Love the ramp 👍❤️
Build a nice porch with a ramp 4'x8' steps straight out and ramp on wall side

Looks amazing. Congrats on all the hard work 😊
Sam you have created a real nice space for yourself.
Don't rush to fill it up. You will be out of space before you know it😁😁🤓.
It's a fantastic workshop space and you should be rightly proud of the hard work and final finish. Very well done and looking forward to seeing it kitted out. 👏👍👍👍
would love to see a cost breakdown as this is the size and style i want to do for myself
Awesome job can’t wait to see it filled.
Awesome job Sam, that is going to be an amazing sh. Congratulations 🎉
Got to make room for a fridge!
You do great work, and do it well while working alone. One question; Do you have any plans to cover the floor? Or are you going to stay with a raw plywood surface.
Whoo! Can't wait to see the space fill up with new toys and builds. Good job Sam!
Nice looking job. If you are ever in Lawrenceburg, stop by my shop sometime.
I love your new workshop. I have a 24ft x 24ft shop I am not able to use due to physical health.
Congrats looks great very happy for you... Keep up the great work...
You have my dream workshop.
Sam that is beautiful. Great job! You should be very proud. And your wife and sons get my praise as well 🙂
Awesome milestone Sam! I think you did a great job. Sure you made some minor mistakes. This build gave you experience and thought to future projects. Now your kids see this and their standards will improve as they grow.

🎉 YAY YOU!!! 🎉
It looks amazing Sam!!!
Have fun setting up all your toys and organizing to where you can find what you're looking for.
