This hymn is perfect for all the people who lost their lives in tragic events, such as, the September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, Japanese Earthquake, Russia - Ukraine war, etc.
My mother passed away on the 21st of September of stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain cancer). I spent days while she was in a coma in constant prayer with much anxiety and tears for her salvation. Eventually she breathed her last as I held her hand. Not sure where her soul is. Grief and uncertainty have besieged my soul but God has been gracious and tender toward me during this difficult season. Love your family and share the gospel with them even if they respond negatively. Life is fleeting and nothing is as important as their salvation.
I feel you. With increased knowledge comes increased suffering.. God has a plan for all of us... She must have done a good job...
As I near old age...I know God is closer. Enjoy life and cherish what you love. This hymn sums my life up and my journey as it ends...God bless

I love Jesus because He loved me first. Thanks and praise be to the Lord my God Jesus Christ.
I lost my brother a month ago. We new this was coming although it was sudden. He had a wife but no children. His wife is bedridden.snd cannot even turn herself around. He was not a believer but believed in some other religion and so did she. We prayed hard for him and my aunt over him with me at his bedside. My aunt said she felt while praying he gave his life to the Lord. He died two days later. Now my sister in law who has no other relatives. My brother was wealthy but after fifty years of marriage made no provision to look after her. Not a cent. God stepped in and my uncle who is a Christian got him to change that in the last month. We had to move my sister in law closer to us in a home firstly to get her to feel the love of Jesus and secondly to get her away from those other people.. We visit her daily. She needs prayer love and trust. It's been three weeks now and now no talk about that strange religion. It's blanked out of her mind. Praise the Lord. We always remind her of God and I now see tears well up in her eyes. God is talking and at work. I asked her today why the tears, were they tears of joy. Her answer was yes. She has no idea she would have been left destitute but as my aunt, uncle, husband and I are Christians we can see God at work. The home is full of Christians but she can't get around yet or even move. We found a good doctor now who can do the work through God and has said we will be able to take her out soon. We taking her to the beach to see God's handy work. We cannot wait for that day but its near. God is at work. Please pray for her.
I prayed a special prayer for someone passing through hard times, a hard time which seem to be mental, financially and emotionally damaging.
I pray for this person reading this, that God will come to your rescue, wipe your tears and restore you whole in Jesus name. Amen

Chromatic Harmonica to play for her while she was laying on her death bed. She contracted Breast Cancer which spread too late to save her. I know how you feel. When my aunt was dying in the hospital I’d play her songs such as this on my hammer dulcimer. She said once-David play me right into Jesus arms. At the funeral service I played by request of my cousin that I play. I played In Christ Alone(hardly could get through that myself) the played Jesus loves Me, How Great thou Art and finally played, and Nearer my God…. We all miss love ones and someday we will be rejoined with them. Remember our home is not here it’s with Jesus for eternity. We are just here a short time, like a vapor and soon we reach our final home.

I'm not really a religious person but this will be sang at my funeral. I have a connection with this song that is unexplained
This song will not save any soul, no matter how much it touches them. We are all called to live a life of repentance for the sin we commit against a Holy God. It's through His Grace alone that you will be nearer to God. If you don't stop the behavior of sin before you pass, you will be tormented knowing you had a chance and didn't take it.

I think about the Titanic, too, every time I hear this hymn, and picture the ship going down, as the orchestra continued to play.

I know not a lot of people are going to read this but I’m posting this to get it off my chest. I lost one of my pups a few months ago. She was a Christmas present from my aunt and we had her for about five years. She came down with an autoimmune condition that made her destroy her own blood cells. She got super weak and we had to put her down. I’ve never stopped mourning her and sit by her grave sometimes. This song makes me sad at her absence and joyful to see her again someday. We’ll see each other again Charley. We’ll play frisbee and take naps for eternity. I miss you💔🤍
My grandma entered heaven 2 days before because she had a very weak heart,it made me extremely sad because she is the one who took best care of me all these years.For not worrying about her,I hear this music repeatedly which gave me peace and comfort that my grandma is safe in the precious arms of our Lord Jesus Christ

Why the thumbs down for this beautiful song? I don't understand it unless these people don't know the Lord which would explain it all. This is an old hymn and is very meaningful, I want to be close to Jesus Christ who is my Lord and my Saviour that paid the ultimate price for me on the cross where he died for my sin's so that I might have eternal life with him.
