Thank you that brought back some fond memories. May farther worked at Massey Ferguson back in the 70s and my mum would park our crappy car in the lay-by and my brother and me would play on the train lines till Dad came out. And the smell of Kellogg's, mmmmm.

Don't you just hate it when you never get to see something which is so close to where you live, but you don't discover it until it's gone. And apparently this line was only lifted in 2014 and look it already! Nature doesn't waste any time reclaiming it.

Another great video Andy. Sadly another aspect of the northwest’s once rich and proud industrial heritage slowly becoming lost over time and reclaimed by nature and which will no doubt be swept away by new developments in due course. Your videos provide that vital link between what once was and what will be. Cheers again, Jim

@@Supernorthwest only a matter of time i think before it goes.If you get the chance the old disused cadishead is still well worth a look
I know ive already mentioned it lol.It joins the Liverpool manchester line at irlam and goes towards timperly and also into the old shell carrington complex .I think youd do a brilliant video on it .Its easy to access tje old track is closeby to man uniteds training ground carrington moss.Loads of clues still there a viaduct cadishead and outbuilding still there as the line branches off into shell, which you can safely access it .Lymm line at thelwall is being looked at for reopening.Anyway brill video .

Hi Andy. I lived in Urmston as a boy and Trafford park was our playground lol 😆 The Barton dock road container base was a comparatively new railway compared to the rest of the system 😀 The traffic moved to Wakefield Europort Yorkshire for EWS I believe 🤔

Hi Stevie. Must of been loads of mischief as a kid round there🤣 I heard part of the reason they closed the line was that the canal bridge was unsafe. Interesting place though mate, thanks for watching, cheers Andy

Welcome to my timeline, liked the works so ive subbed....... Enjoying your vids. I live in the trafford area and have been doing similar hunts. Old railways, paths, tunnels etc..... Not done any vids but usually post the odd find to instagram. It's amazing what you find if you just pay attention isn't it. I live on the old roman road through sale not far from where the toll bridge used to be which is now TGI lol..... This area is so full of stuff to explore - Happy hunting buddy - Steffi

Nice to see an urban historical video without any dreadful finger clicking for once, far too many online videos are full of it, making them totally impossible to listen to. And I've rowed along that stretch of canal there, in an inflatable all the way from Castlefield to Wigan, including rowing across the Barton swing aqueduct!
