  • It's time for a very special railroad adventure: Join me as I experience every train at Disneyland! Walt Disney loved trains and they were a prime inspiration for building Disneyland, so no trip to the park is complete without experiencing them. Featuring rides aboard the Disneyland Railroad, Main Street's Horse Drawn Street Cars, Casey Jr in Fantasyland, a round trip on the Monorail, and the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness - Big Thunder Mountain! There's also a few fun facts, trivia, and Disneyland history thrown in for good measure.
    All aboard, amigos!

    I highly recommend the "Behind The Scenes Steam Train Tour" at Disney World. The best part was almost at the end...after showing up before sunrise, riding the train back to the "roundhouse", and learning more than you'd think could have happened with the Disney Trains, was as were were approaching the Main Street Station again at about the time the Park opened, the Conductor told us make sure as we got off the Train we waved and smiled at all the people in line at the Station to be the first to ride the train that day...good times!

      I AGREE! I did that tour many years ago. There were only 6-8 in my Monday group. There are usually about 30. I made reservations @ Epcot Sunday prior to Mon. visit. Operator wanted to know If I wanted "wake UP" call. i told her that there was NO WAY I'd miss that tour. I believe Bob, was the engineer that did the tour.

    Hi. Thanks for this. It bought back very fond memories. My first trip to Disneyland was in 56, as a 5 year old. My last visit was in 04, as a grandfather to 2 young girls. Although I still live within 45 minutes drive time, I haven’t been back since. So….thanks again for bringing back the memories of the charm and magic that Disneyland can be. See ya.

    Years ago, I believe the Santa Fe railroad had some connection with Disney trains. My pop was a machinist for the Santa fe in San Bernardino. We had unlimited passes for the train. Both Disney's and the real trains.

    • @cubbyrubenstein945
      @cubbyrubenstein945 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The Disneyland Railroad was original sponsored by Santa Fe (as such, the ride was originally named the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad.) Santa Fe railpasses were honored in lieu of tickets back before Disneyland switched to general admission.
      The railroad's original logo was based on Santa Fe's (a plus sign in a circle), although often with the castle in the center. If memory serves, the logo can still be found in a few places (namely the stations.)

    I laughed when you mentioned redoing the narration because right before then I was thinking how nice it would be without the narration. I suppose one could take noise cancelling headphones, but then one wouldn't hear some of the intrinsic train noises either.

    When you were riding the Monorail did you see that second set of elevated tracks. Those were once Walt Disney's people mover system it wasn't as popular as the monorail which is why it no longer operates the subtracts are still in place I don't know what's become of the people mover train sets

    • @ThunderMesaStudio
      @ThunderMesaStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fate of the Disneyland PeopleMover is quite sad. It was actually still quite popular when it was closed in 1997 to be replaced by the short-lived and ill-conceived Rocket Rods in '98. The track just sits there rotting now and many of the cars were sold off to collectors.

    • @cubbyrubenstein945
      @cubbyrubenstein945 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan if what I have heard is true, when the ride was replaced with Rocket Rods, the exisiting track was used. The forces the ride put on the track, as well as just time and neglect, has left the PeopleMover's former track in a bad shape and likely needing to be replaced... shame for such an iconic ride.

    I miss those MK II bubble top ATSF monorails.....thankful they still have something
    Must have been a all time low attendance day....when was that?
    Park looked good, I hope during my 2023 So Cal stay I get to visit...2018 was last time I was in park.

    My father was an executive for the now-defunct Gulf Oil corporation. We lived in LA for 3 years from 1970 to 72. We got tens of trips to Anaheim Disney in those three years. Club 33 when it was still exclusive to exhibitors, tours of the park with presidents of foreign nations. The whole 9 yards, even charming harvard educated 20-something translator guides for any language you chose thank you. Poofy hats, mini skirts and go-go boots to match. Remember that Tom Hanks - Mary Poppins movie? I lived the Limo at the gate scene. Only difference, our limo was outside the fence. I learned I like Snails at Club 33. Ate my first Andes chocolate mint there. On one trip, no doubt escorting some world famous oil rich nations president, I ran literally crying at the top of my lungs from a table set with Three, Three forks and the same number of spoons. It took a lot of love and many Shirley Temples before I was coaxed back to that table. I can still see tiny shards of the park when it was still only 12, 23, 14 years old. We missed the Nautilus. Still breaks my heart. We did see the dancing bears. I am sure I rode the mine train you showed as blocked off. I am thrilled the submarines are still there. Thank you so much for this video. Teared up several times. Mother and father are both gone now but the happiest place on earth remains. It's a small world after all!
