Hi and thanks, Backroad Exploits for sharing. Brilliant choice of music!!! Wow, I didn't expect this!...5:18 The rich heritage of architecture is a gem...14:11 There are countless intricate carved locks and wood doors as Gillette is known as a legacy of the stage actor of Sherlock Homes. What's a view! This is situated on a hill to overlook the Connecticut River!!! Well done. 🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Wow, didn't think anyone would appreciate the Roaring 20's music as that is when this Castle was finished. I didn't think of it at the time but I should have taken 360° still images to capture the interior. I may have to go back to spend more time to do this place justice. I didn't even find out the story behind the train. Thanks so much for your kind words and constant support.
Yeah, something tells me I will be visiting often. After watching my video, I do believe there were more that I could have seen that I just overlooked. I will listen to the tour next time as well. There was a goofy docent that put me off right at the beginning, so we skipped the tour. Thanks for watching.
Yeah I made a mistake on that one. I had over heard a comment about (lights) them without first checking that fact. After watching a video from the friends of the castle, I learned that was not true. They were created by the owner. Yeah those old Indian Trails, now roads, were not laid out with present day cars in mind. Glad you enjoyed this video, we thoroughly had a blast visiting there. In fact I tried to take my son there on our most recent trip but alas, they were closed for renovations. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I appreciate the history lesson while driving to the castle. I'm just coming from Louisiana for work, and I can definitely relate to the heat! I love the tour. The castle looks well maintained ❤️
Thank you! I selected the music to represent the Roaring 20's in which this Castle was first occupied. It is very well maintained. We brought the heat from Florida to New England with us ;-)
Hiya, really did enjoy watching your explores, such great history, a beautiful castle and the music is very much suited! Incredible to see such beautiful architecture over the pond :D thank you for sharing!
Just a baby compared to the structures you have, but special none the less right? Sadly they don't allow video here. Enjoy your content, so much old history and it boggles the mind that there are structures a thousand years old!
Liked #14, woah!! A wooden castle, now, this is very first wooden hand-hewn to a castle. I guess I got so used to the European versions that it is always completely stone only. And another woah!!! Only $6!!!
This was a highlight of my summer trip up North. There was so much about the character of the owner and the structure I really couldn't cover it all! He was a fascinating individual and all the stories about him were interesting. The castle was a delight to behold and we will return again. Yeah it is a State Park and has beautiful grounds in addition to this amazing structure. I grew up on that river, albeit over 100 miles away but never saw a ferry cross it, so that was a bonus. I skipped over the miniature locomotive as we were so distracted by the Castle. Thank you so much for your time and support!
Beautiful drive. We've thought the same thing on the scenic drives and the lack of designation in some areas. I even mention it in one of our videos from West Virginia So many beautiful drives out there! Would love to get out there in our Model T and listen to your music! What a beautiful castle and we loved your tour. Stunning views from the beautiful grounds! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Thank you for spending so much time on our channel, we're very flattered and for the awesome compliments. I have hours of video from just the backroads of this trip but haven't shared it because they are just that, travels. Perhaps I may try to compile some backroad exploits without a destination....
You were talking about a "castle" yesterday, so I decided to do a search. I'm not sure this is the one you were talking about, but I would like to make a couple of remarks. Please imagine you are a robot that has to check this clip. That will help. 😊 It's a VERY nice video and I watched it till the end in a good mood. The "Roaring 20's" music gives it a very special atmosphere, but technically speaking, it's "the focus of attention" most of the time. It gives the impression of "music accompanied by visuals", while it should be the reverse (the more so if the music is not your own creation or performance). A better approach would be to put the music really in the background, get the sound footage of the place you are at, read some of the notices aloud, etc. and make that the constant aural focus (put that sound layer on top). That's the way to avoid the problems we talked about yesterday. Kind regards, Paul 🙏
Thanks my friend for the tips. Yeah I've struggled with getting my sound levels balanced using Adobe Premiere Elements. I may have to upgrade to get the features I need to edit my sound more accurately and be able to have some consistency. I pulled the music off the music archives which indicated it was free from licensing/copyright. Keep throwing your advice my way, it is appreciated. I don't guarantee I will implement them all immediately but sooner or later, these things will grow on me ;-) Big thanks to you for taking the time to help me improve.
@@BackroadExploits I wouldn't pay for anything if I were you; any free editor can do that for you. You just leave the sound on your video footage "as is" (100%), and bring down the sound input (decibels) of the sound recording you want to use as a background (that's a separate layer in your editor). No special technical skills are required. All the robots here do is compare your OVERALL sound image against a database of OVERALL CLEAN sound images (that's a studio recording, yep). If your sound image as a whole is "mixed" or "dirty" and does not sufficiently match their clean studio-pre-recorded fingerprint, then you have created something "unique", and you are most likely to pass. All the best for the upcoming holidays! Kind regards, Paul 🙏

@@BackroadExploits Look forward to it. Kayak7seas also is a fan of yours. 🥰
I've been there three times and truly enjoyed each one.

Even the picnic shelter is extraordinary! 🦾🛡️
Such narrow roads! ⚠️
Really like the train in the lobby and the castle looks awesome. What a great place. 🦾📺
Tiffany lights too, incredible! 💯

The woodwork is simply incredible. The doors that look like safe doors and the ceiling that almost looked like lattice. Amazing! 🦾📺
Yeah that was indeed the most outstanding feature.

Live 40 mins away been there many times.
How lucky are you John. Lovely setting. I used to live about an hour away when I was growing up but never knew about this place. Thanks for watching.
