I am glad my favorite commander Sythis made the list. Something to note for Sythis is resiliency. There are redundancies for all the important cards in the deck. I like to think of Sythis as a forest that can immediately replace itself if it gets chopped down. No matter what you throw at Sythis, the forest of enchantments will typically completely regrow in 1-2 turns.
Worldgorger dragon and Animate dead/Dance of the dead are two very good cards for Anje as well if anyone is wondering. Its a combo that gives infinite mana and allows you to draw till you find the exact cards you need to either drain your opponents life or create a load of zombies and gain a ton of life. Its pretty easy to pull as you gonna be drawing a LOT as whatever you need your gonna dig into a answer to finding it or just straight up find it. Basically what you gotta do is get world gorger dragon (WGD) into the graveyard this can be done with a lot of stuff usually buried alive or if you have him in your hand Anje. I only recommend doing either of these things once you have the correct cards as any type of graveyard hate like bojuka bog can mess it up especially if one of the people you playing agaisnt knows the combo. Although recently there has been a decrease of it which is nice. So once WGD is in the graveyard you play animate dead or dance of the dead. It comes back and exiles all permanents you control including Animate dead/ dance of the dead. Because of this Animate/Dance trigger and it forces you to sacrifice WGD it goes to your graveyard and Animate/Dance returns including all your other creatures and lands with all of them being untapped. So tap all your lands and anya in response to the trigger of animate dead draw a card discard, then animate/dance resolves and you choose target creature from your graveyard which will again be WGD. Rinse wash repeat. Now this is the important part you need instant killers or spells that can be cast at instant speed which is why Anje is so good with this combo as madness gets around timing restriction. Some cards i like to do is "From under the floorboards" cast it for infinite get infinite life and infinite 2/2 black zombies. Avacyns judgement which you pay for infinite dealing infinite to all players. Or you may not even need to if you have phsychosis crawler or Glint-horn buccaneer as you get "infinite" anya draw and discards pinging everyone for 1 till they die. Have fun!
Honorable mention for Anje: these Decks have some heavy combos build in, like Worldgorger Dragon and Animate Dead giving you infinite Mana. Also Glinthorn and it's back up Drannith Stinger work well with reaping the graves and Songs of the Damned, let's you even win with an empty library if you stack the triggers correct and wont let the draw resolve. Hell of a machine to play especially of you know the edges of Magic rules
Shout out for Hidetsugu and Kairi! They are a terror to deal with because you don't know if it will set off a chain of State Based ETB/Death Triggers from cloning them. I only pull this deck out if someone is pub stomping because it takes really long turns and wins with janky high cmc spells that cause huge life loss. Fun fact about Anje is you don't have to even cast the madness card you discarded to untap Anje, the card just has to have madness on it for Anje's ability to trigger :P
I feel like some builds of Tatyova, Benthic Druid can be a counter on sight/remove on sight commander. I for one, have a deck with her and whenever it gets going it becomes solitaire and there's nothing the table can do about it because I have a bunch of extra turns spells and mana ramp. I eventually win with either Laboratory Maniac, Avenger of Zendikar tokens, or a massive Sylvan Awakening. If Tatyova gets removed, there's always enough mana on board to pay for the commander tax and still keep the gas going.
Sythis is my first commander deck, and I must say I feel like you've only scratched the tip of the iceberg. I've ended up playing games where it's 3v1 and I've still come out on top. Literally everyone in the pod agreed to a truce until I was dead (in front of me even, which I understood) and I still managed to make it out. Idyllic tutor into sphere of safety, solitary confinement, sterling grove, greater auramancy, privileged position, Archon of valor's reach with bestowed springheart nantuko on landfall making a copy and calling instant and sorcery, and even artifacts and planeswalkers too if I wanted. Moon-Blessed Cleric with meticulous excavation for never-ending tutor with sanctum weaver and gauntlets of light/seedcradle witch. I almost milled myself out looking for heliod/walking ballista. Best thing about it? The deck is actually really cheap. I built 80% of it in the bargain bins section of my LGS. I just liked the simple draw ability and the artwork, and now I feel like I have a deck that basically is a ticking timebomb, it just sits there, doing nothing until it's too late. So now I'm making a Kaalia deck.
I just played Koma yesterday. I was down to 7 life before I even cast it. That’s how scared this ONE PLAYER was of it. He happily paid my propaganda tax and threw every big creature at me. I’ve lost more games with Koma than won.
How slow is your koma deck? You basically need just ramp and protection. Get him turn 4 or 5. Some free counterspells like fierce gurdianship, force of negation, force of will, pact of negation. A spark double or sakashima and after that you tap their Lands in their upkeep and you won the game. I stopped playing koma because its to strong unless people wanna play against it.
Whenever I’m building a commander like these that are so powerful, I like to give myself a little deck building challenge to keep power at least somewhat within reason. For instance, I built an “oops all creatures” animar deck focused on morphs where I only used creatures and lands. I used morphs as my removal suite and the deck is pretty fun. I also never build any decks over $70, so it was really fun finding useful creatures to fit in the budget.
My strongest deck is my Ratadrabik Legends Deck. It's not just extremely resilient, but I manage regularly to set up board states where actually removing something, attacking me or blocking me benefits me.
As someone who has played against Narset and Animar, and as a player of Marchesa, they are definitely hard to interact with. Marchesa does fold to instant speed graveyard exile like Soul Guide Lantern or Tormods Crypt style cards so theres that to consider. One card i think shouldve been mentioned is cards eith Persist like Glen Elendra Archmage where you can sac her to counter a non-creature, have her come back and put a counter on her to remove the +1 to do it all over again. With something like Murderous Redcap now you start Shocking people or play River Kelpie so now killing your things not only reanimates but DRAWS! Narset is gross cause lets be real, players arent playing this on T6 and passing; you are using Generator Servant to not only give it haste but play it two turns earlier or playing thing like High Tide and other rituals to play her by like T3-4 when no one has an answer. Animar is definitely annoying and as mentioned like they play a one mana Shrieking Drake or whatever its called to just get a bunch of counters and then "oops, free Kozilek" or some other spaghetti monster
Zur should be on this list. The first thing that gets tutored is a Hexproof aura for Zur. Then Greater Auramancy. Then Solemnity. Then Phyrexian Unlife. Oh and Zur is holding ip counters for the whole thing. Good luck.
Yep Zur was my first commander, and my friends will no longer allow me to play him. Diplomatic immunity, shielded by faith, pariah, greater auramancy, and copy enchantment. GG The deck has a like 80-90% win rate.
I was thinking about building Narset ever since she was printed and when I finally pulled the trigger and built her with all of the library manipulation, extra turn spells and slow pay-offs like Young Pyromancer, the deck was so hilariously overpowered that I felt really guilty for playing it and crushing everyone repeatedly. Retired that deck after a 4-0 where not a single game ever felt even remotely close.
Along the line of Octavia, I made an Eris, Roar of the Storm deck with all sorceries and instants, flooded the board with dragons and win. Its surprisingly effective
If you're running Animar, Ancestral Statue is a win condition. I use Animar for my hydra deck. It's very fast, very consistent and swings hard with very little effort. It's rare that i don't just one shot the entire table once I've cast 5-8 hydras. It's just so easy to ramp them out with Animars' cost reduction, and universes beyond gave us even more lethal hydras in the form of Tyranids. One of which can just one shot a single player upon entering with its etb effect. Animar is like, a decade old or close to it and its STILL incredibly strong in todays commander environment.
If you want Animar for instants and sorceries, mizzix definitely is up there, PLUS the experience counters don’t go. And in the same izzet vein, Niv Mizzet Parun probably should be hete
Surprised not to see Cloudstone Curio, Purphoros, Impact Tremors or even the storm spells mentioned about Animar. Apart from the Curio, if you have one of those cards and Ancestral Statue, it's game over if the statue doesn't get countered or destroyed.
Do you have any card list ? Exemple on moxfield that would help a lot. I am new player, and would like to create my own deck(using your recommandations) but other than the 4 6 card you mentionned in the video (which would be great to have a list for each commander) i am clueless, and i mean i must not be the only one in my situation :) thanks
Super overplayed combo but ofc the worldgorger dragon and any of the 3 different animate dead variants lol. That’s fun. Then if you want to make it un-fun, have Gary down before that happens. My pod apparently didn’t understand what I meant when I said “im going to try to make a loop happen” obviously anje is going to get that to happen by turn 4 😅
The only Commander I would have given an honorable mention to is reaper king. Obviously just like any other Commander you can just destroy him before he gets going. But if you don't stop him the game over will come very quickly. Being able to destroy Target permanent every time you cast a scarecrow that all cost One, two, or three. That's not even counting if you duplicate his trigger.
I would say that Zur should be on this list too. Urza and Korvold are also some worthy inclusions. But it's also funny how most these OP commanders can just get royally screwed by humility most of the time lol. This is why I play humility, drannith magistrate, and some other creature hates.
29:38 Also add in Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, and Marvin, Murderous Mimic. 4 Koma's. But as you said, if you let them get to this point, it's already too late.
My blind pick is Jodah, the unifier. So far since I built my Jodah deck with the added restriction that every card must either be or care about legendary or multicolored cards, I have lost 2 games out of probably 50+, both losses I was archenemy from turn 1 and even then I was never out first
There's also multiple creatures/spells that double counters like Fangs of Kalonia or Tanazir Quandrix to use with Animar ... one cast will bring him from 4 counters to 10
since you said "when the commander and the deck starts doing their thing" then i have to say Chainer, dementia master is the perfect example of an unbeatable commander. once you let him cook, the only thing getting fried is you.
The worst thing with Anje is that it's really complicated rules-wise regarding how it interacts with the stack, and so many Anje players are not necessarily judges, since it came with a precon. They really should have designed it differently.
I used to have an Animar deck but I had to take it apart because it wasn't fun for people to play against. I avoided the easy infinite combos and it was still too strong for a casual table
@@austingentri our budget group seems to be more powerful then our normal decks 😆 An elf deck that pops off turn 4-5 a Voltron equip deck that swings for lethal in turn 4-5

Leave it to WoTC. I was excited and looking for the link for the commander buddy mid convo about him, only to be very sad, lol. Great video, Mia and Beezy. Still surprised looking for Dskinny in the patreon list only to see my real name Dustin Moyer, lol.
These are really good Commanders with some cool combos. I want to build a deck using Sythis. The Anje deck is quite interesting too. How come Toxrill wasn't on this list? Thank you for the video Mia & Beezy AKA Nitpicking Nerds.
I built a narset deck specifically to be “not that narset deck”. No extra turns, no extra combats, and is loaded up with 30 sagas. Unironically one of my most fun decks to play, and by no means is unbeatably strong
Yeah I'm considering picking her as a Jeskai Superfriends deck. Not looking forward to all the hate but it's an idea I've been hooked on since I came up with it
Enter the Infinite + Jace, Wielder of Mysteries / Thassa's Oracle is how i win in narset 80 percent of the time. the colors are diverse enough for a underworld breach/brain freeze line but exiling breach off narset is just really not fun
Enter the Infinite can be subbed with Paradigm Shift but Enter is better because you get all the cards in your deck to use. If you got a Grand Abolisher out, then Paradigm Shift will work most of the time
Does card kingdom deliver faster then TCG player? I ordered some tokens and 2 cards and didn’t realize until after checkout that the delivery date was almost A MONTH out… wish I wouldn’t have ordered had I paid attention 😂
You need to play with some high power pods then wait until it gets countered 4 times in a row and costs 14 to cast and no more jeweled lotus or mana crypt to get it out faster
@@0nTh3Stack I'd like to. I'm sure I will. But as of now most of the pods I play in don't play much interaction, or have dealt with other threats and let me slide by. One thing I've learned to do is wait an extra turn or two before casting Narset.
@@0nTh3Stack Yeah totally agree with you man, me and my brother went to our local LGS and played against a guy playing Narset. We spammed our removals/counters on him and proceed to metaphorically fuck him till he left 😂

I hate to be THAT guy, but when talking about Sythis and Ondu Spiritdancer, you can't actually Populate enchantment tokens, Populate only applies to creature tokens. You could go for Enchantment creature tokens tho
💧 🔥 🌞 Narset!!! I only have a Strionic resonator in my deck. No other form of extra stuff. Edit: i also have a black rose deck with no creature stealing 💧 💀 🔥
I love animar in my Magus Lucea Kane deck, I can easily load him up with counters and just add a ton to my many X creatures. As a commander he seems too easy to derail if his counters get reset
Lmfao this feels like a list of past and present decks I have. Are you guys stalking me? I've had Marchesa built for like 8 years straight now and had Animar built for about 8 years also before it got sold. I also had a Narset list I optimized to compete for promos when they had those fatal push promos for FNM. No Koma though.
Based on the number of games I have played with him, it pains me to admit that Krenko, Mob Boss will not be on this list.
But he’s the Tony soprano of MTG! 😭
When I play Krenko it usually ends up feeling like a secret Commander deck and his name is Devilish Valet
My Krenko deck is now an Ovika, Enigma Goliath deck

Still surprised looking for Dskinny in the patreon list only to see my real name Dustin Moyer, lol.
Don't be too sad, with any luck more will be available via other sales channels
@@whoopie23 Yeah, I'd love other characters also. Better fire up the 3d printer lol
@@Dskinny23it's coming, Atraxa, Yuriko, Roger and more
What text would you change on the banned cards to make them fair?
I was guessing you would mentioned Aluren on Animar.
These are really good Commanders with some cool combos. I want to build a deck using Sythis. The Anje deck is quite interesting too. How come Toxrill wasn't on this list? Thank you for the video Mia & Beezy AKA Nitpicking Nerds.
simian simulacrum and reinforced ronin are bombshell in my animar deck !
31:32 4 strikes as a matter of fact is not reasonable 😂 and it’s so funny to see Mia instantly recognize what yall said
Where do I find those commander buddies? Any help be appreciated
Magic Con Vegas is the first place to get them!
Thanks. So they'll be potentially available to public eventually
@@matthewbaum1874 hey, yep. They are going to roll out a whole line
I've always wanted to build Octavia, thought it would be a silly fun commander. Guess I was wrong 😅
so, where can we find their decks?
What are your favorite cube designs?
My marchesa aristocrat's deck is like that using undying creatures to sac every turn for alot of damage
I am guessing at 0:43 the Moxfield ad is at 22:00-23:00
I built a narset deck specifically to be “not that narset deck”. No extra turns, no extra combats, and is loaded up with 30 sagas. Unironically one of my most fun decks to play, and by no means is unbeatably strong
Narset herself has a bit of an issue as it seems players have no self control on the extra turns thing, but if played in a more fair manor…. Very dope
Did she say Flampler at 8:21? And Again at 8:32? Love it!
I've never had fast shipping through Card Kingdom😂
Also Uril and mono green Omnath. Built in untargetable is grossly obnoxious (like with Narset and Octavia)
I have a Narset of the Infinite turns Voltron deck that I've never lost with. It's sad and satisfying for the same reasons 😂😅😭
We spammed our removals/counters on him and proceed to metaphorically fuck him till he left 😂
you wouldnt happen to have a decklist that you would share for it?
@@noahanderson732 I can put one together for you
Good List.
In my opinion, Aesi is missing from the list. This commander is just so strong.
i think the takeaway from this video is that farewell was a design mistake
Where’s kinnan?
My best deck BY FAR is kykar burn. Won so many game by blasting crackle with power ! Def should this on this list. Also my unbeatable deck 1v1 is hylda of the icy crown. Nothing more to say, so much salt. I didnt play her with my friends anymore
Solitary Confinement Sythis is my fav
Marchesa + Geralf's Messenger + sac outlet = dead table
Not ONE eminence commander?! How do you interact with your opponents command zone?
The home team is fire
Koma players here ❤️
I hate to be THAT guy, but when talking about Sythis and Ondu Spiritdancer, you can't actually Populate enchantment tokens, Populate only applies to creature tokens.
You could go for Enchantment creature tokens tho
Opalescence to the rescue!
💧 🔥 🌞
Narset!!! I only have a Strionic resonator in my deck. No other form of extra stuff.
Edit: i also have a black rose deck with no creature stealing 💧 💀 🔥
ayyyy the home team!!!!!
My Animar deck is feeling reaaally called out right now... 😅
Rightly so, but still.
I love animar in my Magus Lucea Kane deck, I can easily load him up with counters and just add a ton to my many X creatures.
As a commander he seems too easy to derail if his counters get reset
Marchesa + Undying creatures = win.
I guess baboons are technically monkeys. You got me this time Beezy... this time....
Zur the Enchanter enters chat
Here's a pro tip. Win by turn 4 or 5 and these will never be an issue.
That isn’t fun though
Lmfao this feels like a list of past and present decks I have. Are you guys stalking me?
I've had Marchesa built for like 8 years straight now and had Animar built for about 8 years also before it got sold. I also had a Narset list I optimized to compete for promos when they had those fatal push promos for FNM. No Koma though.
Mia, your hair is fire.
imo Yuriko should be on this list.
Why is fblthp a part of my personal identity and why can’t anyone beat my fblthp lost on the range deck its only a bracket 2…
This is how I found out the home team made a new record lolol
IT'S SO GOOD!
