The Antelope Valley is part of the Mojave Desert, but this western part is also not considered arid desert on Köppen climate maps. It is semi-arid "cold" steppe. Cold here means it can get below freezing in the winter. This area gets more rain than places like Death Valley or the main parts of the Mojave and Sonora deserts. The climate is similar to the scrub in the Great Plains, central Spain, or steppe throughout Asia. It does get pretty hot out here in summer though.
3:33 Haha, Hiker Town was never a movie set. It's just a bunch of homemade shacks constructed in the yard of a private home. It started when the previous owner started allowing PCT hikers to camp in his yard. The current owner didn't even want the hikers there. But since they were coming, he figured he might as well capitalize on it, and started constructing the shacks.
halfway right. The property was never used for any filming, BUT the little fake structures were actually in fact used in various movies. They were transported into the property by the owner because he was in the movie industry and he wanted to have some personality to his property. That is the true story of how hikertown got its buildings.
What a letdown with hikertown. Reminds me of when I was a kid car traveling in the back seat with my family. After all day of driving through nothing I was more than excited to get to Mt. Rushmore. I literally cried. Nothing there but a parking lot, restrooms, and big rock carvings.
Nice "downhill" hike 😁 Hikertown has such carried reviews, some love it and other hate it, maybe it gets built up to much in hikers' minds as a great place and they feel let down. Like a bunch of the rest of the PCT, these stops are wide spots in a road to somewhere else (which also makes them expensive stops).
Some people think Hiker Town is so cool, others not so much. I think I fall into the latter camp.
Really like how happy you seem and the interesting PCT coverage you provide.
"It's downhill all the way....except for when it's not."

Dr Pepper is one of the only reasons I hike!!!
Just saying
I like your comments brother
A real hiker

really cool to see what the pct is like on a daily basis. Bad food really sucks - keep fingers crossed for good trail magic on the upcoming miles!
Bucket laundry should be perfectly efficient if you do it properly.
You should try doctor pepper with cream soda! Yum!

Boy, nothing worse than horrible food that coses too much. On a better note, Dr. Pepper is AWESOME!!!
This video goes well with my morning coffee. Thanks for posting interesting stuff 😊
Oh my I drank my first pop/soda in 2 years this past weekend!! That Dr Pepper was amazing!! 😂
WOW, sounds more like where hikers go to get ripped off town.
Have you been able to master hitting the hole while wearing your backpack? That's task which should earn a scout merit badge.
Haven’t tried.
So apparently HikerTown is way over rated. Great video! Thanks for sharing! - Shybee

Hikertown could be a really great place under better management. Should be renamed Greedy Town.
LETS GO!

Did that soda work as a Dr. Pooper?
No effect, actually!
