It's interesting that once Vhagar and Caraxes fought side by side with riders baelon and Aemon
Then they toured the free cities together with riders Laena and Daemon
And finally ended up together in the god's eye
That's the irony I very much enjoy in the asoiaf universe
Honestly its sad. Considering how Aemon and Baelon, the best of friends and siblings spent their time flying with Caraxes and Vhagar respectively. Then theres also Daemon and Laena flying alot. Then in comes Aemond claiming Vhagar and murdering Caraxes.

Aemon’s passing did not cause the succession crisis. It was when Baelon the Brave(Viserys and Daemon’s father) Aemon’s younger brother, passed away of a burst belly.

Daemon taking Ceraxes, the heir to the throne's dragon, makes a lot of sense and adds to the fear that Daemon would seize the crown. When he does write something Martin writes it good.

The War of the 5 Kings was not along an inevitable chain, but started by a crazy Tully wife of Jon Arryn conspiring with Littlefinger.

If that one crown prince didn't die young. A whole different history would have unfolded.
Not to mention that Meleys was ridden by daemons mother Alyssa, meaning they each flew eachothers parents dragons

Caraxes was a pretty badass dragon.
God so many Targaryens with the same damn name lol. I mean i guess its realistic as European royal families did this a lot but it makes it hard to know who is being referred to in conversations lol. This dude created such a massive universe.

It wasn't Aemon's passing that caused the succesion problem. Baelon was named prince of Dragonstone so he was the heir apparent. It was his passing that caused the crises.

Aemon’s passing happened years before the crisis. Jaeherys One had thirteen kids and all of his sons died (except for Vaegon) before there even was a crisis.
The amount of time isn't relevant. It's that Aemon didn't have a son when he died. The crisis began as soon as he was killed. Settling the crisis happened in a conference near Jahaerys's death.

Jaeherys had 13 kids to make sure he didn’t have a succession/heir crisis and nearly all of them still died such a sad story. His wife went through all those painful births for nothing. If all Jaeherys’s kids had lived there’d be so many Targaryens running around Kings Landing and there’d never be a succession/heir issue. And there’d be even more dragons.
Aemon had one older sister, Daenerys, and they were meant to marry so that they would rule together, but Daenerys died to a disease when she was a young girl. Aemon's death didn't cause the succession crisis we saw at the start of House of the Dragon, it was his brother's, Baelon's death.

It didn’t cause the succession crisis, Baelon was named heir after Aemon died as he was the next in the direct line of the old King who was male. Rhaenys was passed over for Baelon however Baelon then died of a burst belly, which I assume is meant to mean his appendix burst (cough poison cough). That was when the succession crisis happened as there was no remaining direct heir to Jaehaerys that could inherit. As all direct male heirs were exhausted it was between his grandchildren and it actually wasn’t just Rhaenys and Viserys either, Saera’s children also turned up to try to press their claim. Many picked Viserys in an apparent 20-1 vote over Rhaenys which lead to him being named heir. It’s considered by fans that vissy was named heir because he had an unbroken male succession as Daemon was considered his heir and his wife was still in the midst of her many pregnancies. It’s also why Viserys never called a council of his own he knew if he did they would favour Aegon and Rhaenyra and her children (with Laenor) would be disinherited causing further issues. What he failed to foresee was his hand and wife in the background making every possible effort to put Aegon on the thrown.
