- Thần thoại cổ xưa nhất Trái Đất có nguồn gốc từ Châu Phi, thuộc bộ tộc người Bushmen, có thể gọi là thần thoại người Bushmen. Thần thoại nói về một vị thần kiến tạo có hình dạng nửa người nửa bọ ngựa có tên gọi là Cagn.
Câu chuyện thần thoại này đến từ Nam Phi, thần thoại kiến tạo thế giới của người Bushmen. Đây là dân tộc bản địa có truyền thống săn bắt, hái lượm, sinh sống tại khu vực Nam Phi (gồm Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho và Cộng hòa Nam Phi).
Người Bushmen có quan hệ mật thiết đến giả thuyết con người tiến hóa từ loài vượn. Vì theo một tài liệu khoa học công bố trên tạp chí nước ngoài, họ chính là nhóm người được di truyền và có mối quan hệ mật thiết với nhóm vượn đầu tiên tiến hóa thành người.
Do vậy câu chuyện thần thoại truyền miệng của họ cho đến tận ngày nay có thể coi là thần thoại cổ xưa nhất trên Trái Đất, cũng được bắt đầu bằng trận đại hồng thủy.
Đại hồng thủy được nhắc đến trong thần thoại của tất cả các nước: Hy Lạp, Ấn Độ, Ai Cập, trong kinh thánh.
