    T shirt, socks in one 2nd for snood and gloves. I do same with first aid kit in a tin. Vacuum seal them. Handy item to own. Sil dry bags are great. But I just found vacuum sealed bags easier, you can see exactly what you're looking for. And a wet bandage cotton wool ball or pad bandage is next to useless. Thats how it started. Then of favourite spare socks ( so not wearing a pair out, brand new lofty comfy) beanie gloves which in Australia you rarely wear on east coast. Just became easier for me to organise that way, can see whats there. As well a pack saltine/salada/premium biscuits in a 4 pack can of pate or a few twiggy shelf stable salamis. A cardboard protector for biscuits vacuum pack it all weighs stuff all. Enough for dinner if running late, enough for dinner overnight if stuck. I try to keep a meal and 2 sachets porridge extra on even a day hike anywhere

    Another great film , Items I always carry as part of my emergency kit ,cable ties and nails. 6 big 8/10 inch long cable ties absolutely great if you need to make a shelter quickly by lashing trees together ,all the survival manual's say find two up right saplings 10 feet apart with a very convenient ` V` shape 5 feet of the ground to site your cross beam in .... never gona happen use cable ties and let the purists spend six hours making cordage out of jungle vines . Then in my little tin with my sewing kit safely pins I carry six small (2 inch ) and six large ( 4 inch ) nails, again brilliant for making shelters .
    I appreciate the purists will think these ae cheats but if you have been caught short out on the area or taken a casualty speed building a shelter is vital , Another great vid thank you .

    Good stuff. I like to carry a little folding mat to sit on as well; weighs nothing and stops you getting a damp, cold backside when you stop for a bite to eat or whatever.

    Quick tip: be ready to change you plans.
    Me and my mate (18) who had been hiking together for 8 years did our first duo exped for 1 night in the Caingorms (early winter). All going well and, coming out of Rothirmurchus, we realise we forgot the matches! All was well as we stopped by a pub that sold them and Ryvoan had a roaring fire anyway, but fortunately we prepared enough food that, even though we couldn't eat our dried rations, we could still make it to and back from camp safely.
    Water, food, shelter. Bring back-ups!

    Just found you and impressed with your content, having watched a few of your vids.
    As an addition to your leave information part,
    In August 2020, I went to Scotland for twelve nights, Loch garry, Loch Ness and over to Loch Ashie, planned route, spoke to the sister between 5&6 every night as planned for safety,
    Came home and the neighbours said the police had been looking for me 🤔🤔.
    Turned out that they had been alerted to my parked vehicle and where concerned with my wellbeing.
    Just a tip if you are going to Scotland, not all hate the English 👍😁😁, let the local police know where you are going and when you expect to be back, if it does go pear shaped, these are the people you need to know where you are.
    Take care everyone, happy new year ❤❤🎉🎉🍷🍷🍻🍻🍾🍾☕

    I never carry anything in my pockets, especially the jacket pocket because as soon as I change the waterproof for a windproof the pockets are rarely the same setup and I lose the ability to carry them. Instead I now either carry a chest pack or a should bag with all my emergency items in them. The it doesn't matter what I am wearing.

    • @PreparedPathfinder
      @PreparedPathfinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger, that’s why l use that lanyard with a mini karabiner on, keeps everything together and easy to change. I use a chest pack sometimes too 👍
