    Thank you for this! I am making an 11 string guitar with peg tuners and they are completely new to me. This is a perfect explanation and will get me started.

    Thanks for your video ! What size tuners are you using? Would hide glue adequately lock the tuners?

      I'm using PegHed brand tuners, model #7543. In theory, based on how the threaded post works, the tension of the strings, if they are wound in the correct direction, will provide enough tension to keep the tuners secure. I use a very tiny dab of #20 super glue as added insurance. I would not use hid glue because the squeeze out and cleanup would be tricky to deal with and could be an issue on a highly visible part of the instrument.

      @@MyaMoeUkuleles Thanks for sharing info to beginner ukulele builder ! I've used a lot of cyanoacrylate glue (not on instruments) and not keen on it in terms of reversibility and was thinking hide would solve that issue. I'll probably omit any glue.

    I'm thinking of installing those on my Flamenco guitar, could not find an installation video for a guitar, but I thing that yours will do just fine;
    You said that the shaft is made of aluminum, that's kind of a soft metal, is it strong enough, what's your thought on that?
    How reliable is the mechanism? Thanks

      I've found them to be very reliable. On our ukuleles, individual strings can have a string tension as high as 15lbs. I don't know the tensions on your Flamenco guitar. You can also contact the PegHed company directly to see if they've tested a maximum string tension.

    The LMI SPRM Reamer has a 1:30 ratio. The instructions to install the Pegheds call for a 1:25 reamer. So, do you find that the LMI reamer SPRM works perfectly, even though it's a 1:30 ration? Thanks. I'm about to install Pegheads on a 1963 Ramirez Flamenco, but I want to make sure I use the right reamer. Much appreciated.

    I have a question that really needs an answer.I'm afraid that the guy who restrung my Collings, strung every Peghed Tuner to be tightened counterclockwise. I always have the left side Peghed Tuners to be tightened by turning them in the Counterclockwise direction. And the Peghed Tuners on the right side of the Headstock, need to be tightened going in the Clockwise position. He restrung the Ukulele with every Peghed Tuner, to be tightened, going Counterclockwise! Will this damage the Peghed Tuners? I paid a lot of money for this Uke, and I'm scared of possible damage to the Peghed Tuners on the right side due to the direction that he has them going. I would really appreciate your answer. Thanks!

    Thank you!! I almost broke my peghead tuners trying to re-thread my cricket! You saved me a trip to the Luthier!

    before you install them,how do you tell which pegs are left hand thread and which ones are left hand threads?

    • @MyaMoeUkuleles
      @MyaMoeUkuleles  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think perhaps you meant to ask which pegs are left hand thread and which ones are right hand threads. The guy who makes the peghed tuners is kind enough to ship them in separate bags. However, if they ever did get mixed together, you can tell by closely examining the threads. The right ones look similar to a standard screw, but the threads on the left ones spiral up in the opposite direction.

    Can the pegheds be uninstalled after using CA as thread lock?

    • @MyaMoeUkuleles
      @MyaMoeUkuleles  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Wilton (RagaRecords) Yes. CA glue is very brittle, so you have to grab the Peghed with pliers (we use non-marring ones) and sharply twist (the correct way!)

    Nice video, On a Flamenco guitar the high E turns the opposite way and so is the low E, so when ordering those tuners you have to make sure you are buying the correct thread, am I right?
    second question where do you buy those nice tuners without going bankrupt? LOL

    • @MyaMoeUkuleles
      @MyaMoeUkuleles  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh, but you have to be careful that you choose the thread that causes the string tension to hold the tuner in place. We get them directly from Peghed Inc. Yes, they are quite expensive.

    Better to have glue on your pants than to bond your fingers to a tuner with CA adhesive!

    Is this a 3-12 reamer?
