@@giovanbattistafichera8439 2 completely different shoes... the speed has lots of cushion/protection for your feet with little ground feel, the Liberate is incredibly light but lacks protection. It is more of a old-school racing flat with lots of ground feel. Is it fast? Yes! But 10K is for me the absolute upper limit for my feet, where the endorphin keeps my feet fresh through a marathon. (P.a. I own both)
@@jeroen1989 Thanks! I unfortunately don't own the Speed, so I raced my last half with a pair of regular Kinvara 11 (sigh) because I also thought that the Liberate didn't have enough cushioning for that distance. I still set a new PB though, so I'm happy 😊
I am about to turn 69, and have been running and race walking for over 55 years, this is my first public comment on running shoes. I recently got the Saucony Endorphin Pro and was very impressed, I took off 2 plus minutes on my first run in them (5 Miles) without trying, was totally impressed, comfort, stability great and the Carbon Plate propels you forward. An excellent pair of running shoes. I got them for $130, early December 2021. Your review on the Pro and speed was informative. I will be looking into purchasing the Speed soon.
LOVE the Endorphine Speed, Best multipurpose runner I've ever had! From easy days to the track and everything in between. Would buy again in a heartbeat.
I'm so stoked that you reviewed these. Everyone's saying fantastic things about the Endorphin Speed and they're next on my list to purchase! Hoping for some new colorways/more availability soon.
@@ericdaniels2500 however, I am now experiencing shin splints. I miss the cushy feel of the rincon. Apparently the newer version (Rincon) is a bit more accomadating.
Absolutely obsessed with my endorphin speed's! I bought these on a whim when I went into my local running store to pick up some NB TC's as an upgrade from my go-to Fuel cell rebels and could not be more stoked by the plot twist. I had never tried Saucony's prior to these because I always believed them to be heavy and frankly...not very "cool" in style. I definitely agree the design is "meh" but the colours are fun. But much like you, that is my only negative. Saucony has definitely gained a new customer in me with this lineup!
Found a pair of these at a Dicks Sporting Goods Outlet for only $67, i assume they were maybe pre owned or something, but they seem new. Picked them up on a whim as I am looking to get into jogging/running and it looks like I picked up the Speed at a solid price. As someone new to this all I can say is they are super comfortable and I am expecting them to last a while given the reviews I've seen with hundreds of miles.
Enjoyed the review. The Speed is my favourite shoe I've ever run in. Have had it about a month and have already set new PR's in 10k and half marathon efforts. You literally can't run slow in these!
Fantastic comparison 👌 I have both and the only downside I found with them is some heel slippage but that’s it, it’s up there for “shoes of the year”.... the saucony have hit a home run with these!
Got my Endorphin Speed on friday and took them out for a 5 k tempo run on saturday. I really enjoyed them. Didnt have any problems with stability. Very lightweight and comfortable. I went a half size up to get enough room in the toe box.
You are confusing toe box with the platform of the shoe. The Speedgoat has a narrow toe box, but it does not have a narrow platform. It is a really stable shoe. The Speed has a narrow platform and it is not as stable as the Speedgoat. That said I only notice this when changing directions. I say this as someone who loves both shoes.
I love Saucony shoes, I just wish they weren't so ugly. But when people see me rockin them they know I am a serious running, because there is no other reason for leaving the house looking that bad
Thanks for this comparison. I've only used the Endorphin Pro, but I really like it as a "racer" shoe. The plate doesn't throw you forward, so you're not going to find yourself accidentally running faster than you'd planned. This might just be me, but I don't really feel it unless I'm running below 7min pace. I think it *could be nice for long runs, but for that price unless you're balling, I'm not sure what the point would be.
Great comparison. I want to like my Speed's more than I do. I've been experiencing some pronation issues, oddly only in my right though? They feel good but that has definitely caused some discomfort/pain.
I run a few time in the Shift. They feel fine, good role over, very padded but still bouncy. Good slow, easy effort shoe. Main complaint is that they are hideous. The have the same backs color as the others but the extra stack height and plastic bit make them look like orthotic hospital shoes but “colored for kids”. On the plus side they are bright so maybe that will help with visibility at night.
I bought the Speeds - my first pair of more race-oriented shoes, as opposed to my usual more cushioned daily trainers (most recent the very good New Balance 880v10s). I do notice their springiness yet they’re pretty comfortable still, and I also felt they could stand to be a touch wider for added stability like I’m more used to. But not a deal breaker. Enjoying them thus far. I don’t profess to be a fast runner (or even fast jogger) but it’s nice to put these into the rotation for my tempo days (and help me actually differentiate a tempo run from usual plodding along long run pace!).
Interesting you think that! I’m running in the pros occasionally and absolutely love how past they feel and they’re so springy! Definitely feel very efficient, haven’t tried the speed but I’d imagine you wouldn’t get the same feel based on how you bent them haha! Great review
You seem to love the Speed so was surprised it wasn't a Buy if it's your new favorite shoe. There's a lot of shoes set at $160 and I bet you'd agree that the Speed is a better shoe. Also, the Speed comes in Black and Gold. I love my Speed's!
TGR, I’m a fan, and I respect your opinion. But I would not be so quick to write off the Pro against the Speed. Sure, the Pro is not a shoe for racking up the easy miles, but it isn’t meant to be. It should be set aside for race day, or at least (in the Current Circumstances™️) for solo PB-hunting days! I have some Pros, and love them. They are so fun to run in, and the minimal upper accommodates my wide triangular duck-feet better than some dedicated wide-fitting shoes. Also the soles’ stiffness seems to help protect my long second toes, which can take a pounding when I’m running fast. I absolutely agree about the stability issues though. The stack height is high enough to induce ankle wobbles if you’re not careful on corners.
I tried the Pro first, I asked to try the Speed but there were some wires crossed. I immediately loved the feel of them. But changed them later that day when I realised I'd bought the Pros... because I went in there to buy the Speed and felt like they were more appropriate for me. I ran 4k in the Speeds the next day and although I enjoyed them, I found myself not enjoying the responsiveness as much as I did with the Pros... so I've swapped back. The one thing that REALLY impressed me with these shoes is the heel retention. It's the best I've come across on any running shoe I've owned so far. Time will tell for me with the Pros, but I bought them to have some fun in occasionally at park run and to use in any 5 to 10k road races I might do. I'm mainly a trail runner :-).
This week I bought the Pro here in Brazil. Unfortunately, we don' t have all sizes here. They are not available. I am going to use it for speed workouts. Many Thanks
I’m slow, don’t race much anymore and so have looked away from plated shoes. You may have convinced me to try the speed. Too bad I just got a pair of Triumphs yesterday. Nice shoe, but heavy.
Great review, I always appreciate the way you break shoes down (figuratively and literally). Your opinions are valid and always respected. Was looking at these shoes this morning, and you’ve made my decision very clear. Saucony Endorphin Speed.
Got all three. Shift is just my casual shoe. Speed in my opinion are a better. Pro's are still good, but I'm 60kg and I think they may have been a little too stiff for my weight up until about 150km . Also.. I soaked both pairs in some cleaning powder overnight and washed them in the washing machine. YES!!!!!!! People thought I was mad. Can say they are still 100% ok and nothing wrong with them and still run like brand new second hand
Appreciated the review. I think I saw the experience quite differently. For me the Pro vs Speed is a hard comparison, because the intended primary use case is different (racing vs training). I opted for the Pro over the speed as a possible marathon race shoe. I may try out the Speed later on, but it would be highly unlikely that I would race in the Speed.
As with just about everyone else... I love my endorphin speeds. I never bought a supershoe like a next% or endorphin pro, so no comparison from me there, but the Speed is my racer of choice and trumps every other brand at equal or lesser price from Hoka, Adidas, Nike, Altra, and Skechers in anything beyond a 10k. Even then, my sprint triathlon 5k PR (20'30ish") was wearing the endorphin speed and after one of my hardest-effort bike splits. A truly amazing do-it-all shoe and with no doubt the best of all the non-supershoes!
Awesome review! I will receive my first pair of the Endorphin Speed today, and I'm soooo looking forward to run on them. Please keep making sure you mention how you would use the shoes (i.e. long runs, tempo runs, easy days, etc.).
If you are going to say the shoes are basically the same, the endless “durability” question of the Pro is a bit unfounded. I run in the speed and Clifton line from Hoka....both get it done but do it differently. Hoka let’s you grow into good running form is you are paying attention, or will just accept poor form. The Speed is a runners shoe who knows what they are doing. And the Speed and Pro are best embraced by faster runners who benefit from the spring of a forefoot strike. Got a little nitpicky on the Pro/Speed....especially about price when the Pro is still less than other Carbon options. But, for the average runner, the Speed is enough. But if you want to feel a professional racing shoe, same some money and buy the Pro as opposed to the other popular Carbon options. Again, thanks for the comparison, but if you are going to compare wear and tear, run the same miles.
Love the speed however it seems to allow my right foot to over pronate causing Achilles pain. Might be the plate as well. Beyond that, it’s the best shoe on the market.
I purchased a pair of the Endorphin Speed last month and have done around 60km in them so far. They are very comfortable and responsive, and are plenty fast enough for an old runner like me. I went up a half size, because these were literally the only size available (other than one that was far too small). The extra length is not a real problem, but the extra width is good. Overall, I like them a lot and intend to race HMs and longer in them. I am running in the IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run this weekend and will use them for the first 50k, and then switch to my Pegasus 37s for the last part. I'm hoping to break 4:30 for the 50k, which would be almost 1:15 pb for me. I've not run in the Pro, so I can't compare, but the Speed is much easier to run in than the Nike Zoom Fly 3, with a carbon plate. I think I would buy the Speed again, but I'll know more after Saturday.
I have run in the Endorphin Speed and really enjoyed them. The price point of the speed makes it easier to use it for running outside of races. The higher the price point leads me to want to only use them for Races.
PSA: These feel very light and thin, but they are not for wide feet. In particular, the rear of the shoe tapers away to a very thin width. While jogging on the store treadmill to test the shoe my feet would slip at the side into the fabric and over the edge. Over time, the entire rear of the shoe would just break open. I found much better support in the Saucony Hurricane, but my search for a fast, carbon-plated shoe for width feet goes on. I’m hoping that the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2 fits the Bill.
love the reviews!!! hope to see a review of the shift soon, because almost none of the running channels review the shift and this is the one that excites me the most (I am not fast enough to benefit from a plated shoe).
Loving the Endorphin Speed! Needed a firm, low volume, not too bulbous in the forefoot shoe to replace my cloudflows. Finding these to be a good replacement. Only thing I noticed is that they require more quad input on steeper climbs than my other shoes...The fit is very similar to the new Hoka Torrent 2...
Bought the Speed and love them, but I have the exact same problem with not enough of a stable platform for such a tall and springy shoe. Otherwise I think it's a pretty flawless and awesome shoe.
Interesting you mentioned stability. I love the speed shoe - so fun makes you want to run fast but I have turned my ankle a couple times (I kind of have loose ankles anyway). Not sure if it’s the shoe but am now cautious of when I used them
I have now 100+ km with the Endorphin Shift and they are really interesting for easy trainings or long (and not PR!) runs... But I needed some times to adapt the really big sole ! (41mm to 37mm) Anyways, always a pleasure to get your feelings about shoes & gears (:
I put over 100km. on the Pro. I feel that the upper and the shoelace expand after a few kilometers. No matter how tight I tie the shoelace, I always feel the shoes get bigger.
That Pwrrun pb is closer to Nike Zoom X or Floatride since they're Peba based. It's Pwrrun+ ( Triumph, Freedom, Xodus ) that's more akin to Boost or Floatride Energy since they're Tpu based
Great review. We got so little stock here in Australia. My local shoe store seems very unsure about whether they will get stock before the end of the year. So keen on the shoe, but will likely have to wait a while.
have both. Ran 160miles on Endo Speed and around 30 on Endo Pro. While they are similar but Endo Speed is much more versatile shoes than Pro. Having said, I'd use Pro for racing and strictly for speed days. Speed can be used for literally everyday to tempo and even track day workouts. The differences are subtle but Pro edges noticeably on built quality and underfoot feel. Snappy feel is much more pronounced in Pro while Speed feels much more traditional but amazingly bouncy. I'm looking forward to getting the second pair of Speed. amazing job done by Saucony. Nike and Saucony is at the peak at this point. Nike being far ahead of its peers.
Thanks Ed for the comments and insights. Would you run either for a marathon ? I'm choosing a shoe for my ironman, so it will be a marathon on pretty tired legs already. Thanks in advance.
Nice one, as always. Colours? Wait 'til you see Saucony's 2021 range. They look like a box of crayons has been given to a child and they've said "go ahead and colour in, kid!" Restricted availability on the Pro in the UK. Perhaps why they have the price differential.
I have run in both. I like the seed better....but....if you took the upper and the "pop" of the pro and added the softness of the speed I would throw away my Nike Next %. The problem with the pro is that my legs feel more beat up at the end of a marathon compared to the Next %. The speed my legs feel better but it doesn't have the pop of the pro or next %. Saucony is on to something and its almost there.
I'm still in the 9s and 10s, but at the end of my stash. Here's to last year's Kinvara model on sale. Definitely headed to a full price Speed once available.
I get that the Speed is the "better shoe" (especially for most people). But I wonder for actual racing, if the Pro is notably a better shoe or not vs the Speed.
Unless you're an elite I wonder how much difference it actually makes. And if it's long distance and the carbon-plate is beating you up, maybe you'll actually do better with a softer plate. Depends on the individual I guess.
Bought the pro on an early release. Love them, but probably would have gotten the speed were it available. I also got the shift when it released for daily training/recovery. Using the pro for all my virtual racing.
Dude thank you for the review the only reason I got the endorphin speed was because it was on sale. I got them for 74$. Immediately the shock absorption was amazing which is what I wanted to prevent injuries. But I got really weak ankles and man was I afraid of rolling my ankles with this shoe. What do you think about the adidas solarboost. Also I love how honest your review was, thank you!
Endorphin(e) speed for shoe of the year. I like the summer color ways. I also have the ride 13 mutant citron. I would have gotten the Kinvara mutant blue if they made it in wide.
I have the Speed. Great shoe, it feels good fast and it can still go well running slow. My current daily trainer and also on fast days (alternate with VF4 and Adizero Sub2) The midsole is Pebax, only the Endorphin line is using pebax. Thanks for great review as always.
saucy....Good brand; but for me......Wide feet, they are hit and miss at least in the past. Received them and they fit excellent- Like sm00th cruise control and I am not a real speedster/still Nice!
SO excited for the Endorphin Pros that arrived yesterday! I will say that they felt like a pack of wild mongooses ready to launch an attack. Once healthy I’m psyched! PLEASE don’t make these shoes wider! Or the other Saucony’s! Us narrow foot peeps need shoes we don’t swim in!
Hey, GR. For a more budget-friendly option, what do you think is the most similar thing Saucony has to the Endorphin Speed (with the Power Run midsole but no plate)? Thanks.
I have a pair of old kinvaras from 5 years ago and I remember the toe room was considered big at the time, did they change up their shapes or did the standards change ?
Thank you for a great and helpful review! Would you recommend the SPEED also for racing 10k's and 1/2 marathon's for a runner that is approx. 195 lb. and aiming towards 37mins/1.24mins respectively? Or will they lack a little bit of...well, speed? Are there other alternatives that will do just as good for interval-sessions and racing? Keep up the good work!
i've been strongly preferring the Speed over the Pro as well. great shoe.

But if you want to feel a professional racing shoe, same some money and buy the Pro as opposed to the other popular Carbon options. Again, thanks for the comparison, but if you are going to compare wear and tear, run the same miles.
Bit late to the party, but am loving the speed, trumps the ASICS metaspeeed I got recently. Awesome review as usual
Love the speed however it seems to allow my right foot to over pronate causing Achilles pain. Might be the plate as well. Beyond that, it’s the best shoe on the market.
I have the same problem, seems to bit softer on the heel of the right shoe
Best intro bit ever! Kidding aside, I like your point about the Endorphine Speed being a more cushioned Kinvara. I am an avid Kinvara fan as well. :)
love the reviews!!! hope to see a review of the shift soon, because almost none of the running channels review the shift and this is the one that excites me the most (I am not fast enough to benefit from a plated shoe).
Almost everyone seems to really love the endorphins speed. I’m gonna cop these fo sho 💯
Not sure if it’s the shoe but am now cautious of when I used them
I agree, unstable at easy pace for me.
I love them. I got them after getting the new balance rc elite v2 and those were horrible on my ankles
I have now 100+ km with the Endorphin Shift and they are really interesting for easy trainings or long (and not PR!) runs... But I needed some times to adapt the really big sole ! (41mm to 37mm)
Anyways, always a pleasure to get your feelings about shoes & gears (:
(And definitively they are not a good fit for wide feet)
Well done In & Out? Hmmm.. I'll have to try that
I put over 100km.
I ordered 8.5 size and 9 i like wide toe so im going to size up 👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏃♀️thanks Ethan 👌🏻
Years ago you mentioned Sauncony’s balance was off - heavier lower half, lighter upper, which was off putting. Are these better?
I saw this coming! It's high time for Saucony!
I could not decide and just ordered both and there are great
Which one do you prefer nowadays?
Nice one, as always. Colours? Wait 'til you see Saucony's 2021 range. They look like a box of crayons has been given to a child and they've said "go ahead and colour in, kid!" Restricted availability on the Pro in the UK. Perhaps why they have the price differential.
Got a pair of the speed and absolutely love it.
Me: watches review, checks account balance, proceeds to fold and insert paper picnic plates under insoles of old Kinvara 9's.
I'm still in the 9s and 10s, but at the end of my stash. Here's to last year's Kinvara model on sale. Definitely headed to a full price Speed once available.
Love the 9s.
I still have the Kinvara 9 and still snappy and great for tempo runs.

The only reason I’d go with the Pro is the better stability, speaking as a mild over pronator.
Both are amazing shoes, but the Speed is indeed a bit more... down to earth, and still the best shoe I’ve ever had.
The shift are really good for a heavy runner like me
The toe box either needs to be a liiiitle wider or widen the outsole on the bottom. Or both. Overall it's a great shoe. It feels tall fyi
Love..... love the cinematography, good work
Absolutely clear review.
Heel cup of the pro is totally different and gives more stability
Endorphin(e) speed for shoe of the year. I like the summer color ways. I also have the ride 13 mutant citron. I would have gotten the Kinvara mutant blue if they made it in wide.
I have the Speed. Great shoe, it feels good fast and it can still go well running slow. My current daily trainer and also on fast days (alternate with VF4 and Adizero Sub2)
The midsole is Pebax, only the Endorphin line is using pebax.
Thanks for great review as always.
Thanks for the fantastic review!
The Speed is the best shoe I have ever run in. Amazing.
When are you gonna do a review on that Oura ring you wear???
saucy....Good brand; but for me......Wide feet, they are hit and miss at least in the past. Received them and they fit excellent- Like sm00th cruise control and I am not a real speedster/still Nice!
I have extremely wide feet and find the endorphin speeds very comfortable. They are a little unstable at sharp turns though.
Thanks.
Would you also consider the Shift 2 to be narrow like the speed and pro?
I have a pair of old kinvaras from 5 years ago and I remember the toe room was considered big at the time, did they change up their shapes or did the standards change ?
Thank you for a great and helpful review! Would you recommend the SPEED also for racing 10k's and 1/2 marathon's for a runner that is approx. 195 lb. and aiming towards 37mins/1.24mins respectively? Or will they lack a little bit of...well, speed? Are there other alternatives that will do just as good for interval-sessions and racing? Keep up the good work!
Thanks for checking in. I actually need to drink a large amount of water.
