    Lusitania’s interior was bright and airy. Mauretania’s interior was dark and more inward and cozy-looking.

    Lusitania is nice, but I prefer Mauretania, but then again I do come from her birthplace, the North East of England.

    Gotta be Maury for me. Lusitania has a more heavenly look with all the white, but Mauretania's wood and earthy greens puts me at ease more, which is more important to me. The forest of cowl vents is the only problem XD
    (I think the wood would also look much prettier in real life than in the rendering)

    The Mauritania's grand staircase reminds me of the Olympic classes grand staircase. Just that its very different. I'm just talking about the colors, not the entire staircase.

    The LUSITANIA First Class Dining Saloon is much better than the MAURETANIA First Class Dining Saloon! Lusitania’s interiors in the First Class accommodation were white and gold colored, but Mauretania’s interiors in the First Class accommodation were brown and bronze colored.

    Both ships are grandly beautiful with distinct flavoring. I prefer the Lusitania externally because the heinous ventilators (look like tubas!) are quite a distraction and make the funnels seem less tall (same height on both ships, but the Mauretania's ventilators obscure the bottom portions). The initial wheelhouse (forward Bridge) was different in 1906/1907 on the Mauretania - check out the pictures when it only had several windows and some portholes - it was modified during one of it's early trips to drydock for repairs.

    Much prefer Lusitania aesthetically (save for the library and veranda, Maury's were definitely done better by a considerable margin), but both ships, and your portrayals, are absolutely gorgeous :)

      Cowl vents, an absolute crap ton of cowl vents xD
      Most of them had handles on them, the idea is that the crew points them to the wind and fresh air gets blown through them.
      Lusitania mostly used an experimental version with a lid that doesn't look quite as goofy or cluttered, but also didn't work as well.
      The Olympic class vessels had the goofy ones as well, but mostly depended on new forms of powered ventilation. There's a nice video explaining Titanic's ventilation systems on TH-cam.

    A question about the Olympic 1934 sailing simulation game. Why are the cranes on the stern now buff yellow while pictures of her around 1933-1935 show her stern cranes to be a dark color suggestion they were brown.

    • @TechnologicallyTechnical
      @TechnologicallyTechnical  ปีที่แล้ว

      +Random User In most photos that's the case, but there's one or two 1934 photographs in which they appear lighter than the dark mast on the well deck. Black and white photographs can be very tricky and misleading, as depending on whether they're green sensitive/red sensitive/blue sensitive, they'll depict certain colors as being a variety of shades.

    • @TechnologicallyTechnical
      @TechnologicallyTechnical  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christophermaccool8029 Yes. In fact, they were built by separate companies. Cunard contracted John Brown & Co. to construct Lusitania, and contracted Swan Hunter to build Mauretania. They were roughly the same size, but not exactly. Mauretania was three feet longer than Lusitania, for instance.

    • @christophermaccool8029
      @christophermaccool8029 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechnologicallyTechnical why did the Cunard have different people design the two ships I thought Lusitania was bigger than the Mauretania and from what I have seen and heard they both should have been built longer and wider like five feet and inches wider and longer or six feet wider and seven feet longer.
