Kangals are amazing dogs. They know and recognize everyone in the village, and even without a shepherd, they can herd the flocks. They protect the herd from wolves. They’re incredibly smart. By the way, Timo is really adorable! My furry girl “Kopush” and I are sending him our kisses ♥.

They sure are. But they are not to be trusted if you walk with a dog into there area.

Beautiful valley. We have big dogs like that in Portugal that live with the sheep. They are scary! Glad you were safe.

Yes, thanks. There great dogs but with another dog with you it's a new ballgame.

Unfortunately, Kangal dogs or all dogs in rural areas do not want any other dogs in their area. They really don't have any problems with people, they just don't like competition😁 I used to never think about this during nature walks until a stray dog ran through the bushes at Kovada Lake and attacked Max🙄
Now, everywhere we go, we check the surroundings first or I don't take Max too far from the trailer. Being close to the caravan and Timo's calmness is great♥️

I love Kangals but yes, they take the job seriously. Other stray dogs are normally no problem. They have no self confidence like the working dogs that are looked after. But yes, its not the first time and it's a problem. I am getting scared and that makes the problem bigger. They feel that.

a lovely remote place ! those kangols are scary ! in April i was very lucky to escape 2 of them on the top of radar hill , the owner was in a camper van which he had decided that it was good to park right on the edge of the viewing point that everyone loves to view the beach from . i was the only one there at this point and these 2 dogs came for me ! got with in about 4 mtres away and came from no where ! the owner who just shouted at them was not really bothered eventually they went to him , but he made no attempt to chain them up . i went up to the top to avoid them and a much better view was had lol . i did on the way down warn other people of the situation .

Even more annoying. Owners without a clue how to train or handle them. But it's known that there is no recall with a Kangal. But also that they are impressive but not aggressive at all.

I've been bitten twice by Kangals, and threatened more times by packs. They take the fun out of hiking.

They have done for me. Years ago when I hiked The Lycian way I have learned to fear them.

The stray dogs in Dalyan are the worst thing for me about cycling around Dalyan especially on the back roads

They are a problem. Also if you are walking and have your own dog with you. So sad.

In remote places I understand, but it's scary. It stops me from going places with Timo.
