Fun fact: my high school is 5-10 minutes from Gatorland. We recently had a yellow lockdown because a gator had escaped Gatorland, got on to the freeway, walked THROUGH traffic, and into our school. We were stuck an extra half an hour in our classes because a gator was running up and down the halls (the school is mostly outside; we don’t have a main building, just an arts building and then a series of classrooms along the courtyard) and they had people on campus running around trying to catch it. Dumbest panic attack I’ve had in my life. (Edit. Apparently I need to clarify for some people that I didn’t have a panic attack over the gator, I had a panic attack over the lockdown because nobody knew what was going on. I have been through three school shootings at previous schools, so that’s why I was scared. :>)
LMAO I think I used to go to the same school and we never had a gator show up in my time there but those bigass sandhill cranes posted up outside the orchestra room once and basically barricaded me inside for a good 15 minutes or so after school. Like I’m sure I would’ve been fine they’d probably have just ran away but I was worried I’d spook them at best and that they’d get pissed and peck my eyes out at worst lmaooooo
There was one time we went to Disney and our hotel was close to the wizard giftshop. My dad couldn't get the whole week off for the trip, so he drove up to meet us later (we lived in south Florida). Since it was back before EVERYONE had a smartphone and we sure as shit didn't, my mom gave him directions to get there, using the wizard gift shop as a landmark. He drove up and down the road past the wizard so many times then called my mom and kept going back and forth while she then went out in the other car to try and, like, find him and guide him back, but they didn't see each other. And that's how we learned there are two wizards.
last year my gf and i were in florida for a few weeks dogsitting for my brother. we had this exact same experience driving home from disney springs late at night. crazy shit
just before it changed hands and became Dezerland, that building was home to the Artegon Mall, a really quaint little "mall" that wasn't really a mall so much as it was a kitschy crafts and nerd fair where you could get handmade goods, niche foods, and really expensive rare anime/comics collectables. i really miss the Artegon, it was such a treat getting to see everything unique that the people with stalls there brought to the table.
I've seen the evolution of that place throughout my life. I've been going to the Cinemark movie theater there since 2007. Always amazed how the Putting edge golf has survived the whole time.
My family and I went to Gatorland while on our trip to Disney World. I ran into the back of a guy's calves with my electric wheelchair, and my cousin ate a raw hot dog 10/10.
Worked at dinosaur world for two years! All the dinosaurs are handsculpted in the early 80s by the orginal owner. Its a decades old family business about 24 years old. The gems and fossils are real and yes the put put is for kids and even the kids loose interest. The bridge is actually the orginal entrance to the park , the front past the bridge used to be orange groves. Tons of cats all over , i ended up adopting one. And yes the museum is either super cool or super creepy depending on if you know what your in for.
I used to make my parents take us there whenever we went to Disney or universal, it was my favorite part of the trip lol. It’s so cool that it’s all hand sculpted and family owned
I've lived near Plant City my entire life, and Dinosaur World was my favorite place as a kid. I used to beg my parents to take me, and I had multiple birthdays there lol. Love them getting a little exposure. It's such a cute place. I'll literally never forget the fossil
This reminded mr a lot of a place on the Oregon coast called the Prehistoric Gardens, though the ones at Dinosaur World seem a bit more realistically painted. All concrete sculpted by the owner, though I think Oregon's goes back to the 70s
Fun fact: at the same exit as Dinosaur World, if you go down the road that runs between the two gas stations you'll find Keel and Curley Farms, which is a fantastic winery. They make their own wine and cider from fruit they grow on the farm. In the spring they do berry picking (strawberries, blueberries) and I think they do peach picking too. And they have a great little restaurant where everything they serve on their menu is either grown on their farm or locally sourced. I recommend their pina colada wine slush. Not a tourist trap but a great place to visit!
I second this! I always make it a point to go to Keel & Curley whenever I’m in the area and I’ve never been disappointed. I also really enjoyed the tour they do of the grounds, including the winery/brewery/cidery.
This reminds me of a different winery called Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards that I drove past on Highway 27 on my way to Orlando from Oklahoma, where one of the strangest coincidences I've ever experienced happened. I swear that at the exact moment I was driving past that place, an ad for it was playing on the radio in my car. That was the ONLY time I ever drove by that place and the ONLY time I ever heard an ad for it on the radio. This happened in May 2021. It was late at night and they were closed, so I couldn't have stopped there even if I wanted to (I hate wine, so I wouldn't have, anyway).
I had to get up and check the fridge when I read this comment, I thought the name looked familiar! We have a trip down to Universal planned in a few weeks, I may have to make a stop there. Their wild berry wine has been my go to for months now, it's so delicious.
I feel the need to say that I am so miffed that you sent me down a nonexistent rabbithole regarding what happened at Gator Jungle on 1990. There was nothing other than a somewhat grim article about the gator farming that took place there, but no arrests.
I googled something along the lines of "gator jungle 6 arrests 1990" and found out what he was talking about. in 1997 six people between the ages of 15-20 broke in and beat two crocodiles to death with wooden planks. dinosaur world opened up a year later. kind of wish he gave more of a warning about what the event entailed bc it was really upsetting finding that out
I also love being a tourist in my own town, like going to my local tourist traps & roadside attractions as a field trip. EDIT: to be clear, my local environs are not widely considered to be a destination of choice; not globally, or even regionally lol
honestly I got super interested in gatorland seeing how they've spun it from "we breed gators here" to "we help rescue gators that wouldn't survive in the wild" and offering cool little things like feeding the gators and the "wrestling" photo ops. and for quite a bargain compared to sea world, and probably far more ethical.
Hey, I know I'm just a random stranger on the internet, but I wanted to thank you, Billiam. I grew up in Kissimmee. I actually went to the High School right next to Gatorland. My brother was a worker at the gift shop in that same Medieval Times you went too. I used to go to Old Town all the time. I wonder if that shop that sells crystals and stuff is still open. And the Giant Wizards actually used to terrify me as a kid for some reason. Most of all, I loved going to Disney Springs to check out the Lego store there. I moved up north years ago, and haven't been back since. Watching this video gave me such nostalgia from my childhood. I actually watched it a few hours after it came out, on one of the roughest nights I had in a while. I can't tell you how much I needed that. This might sound silly, but your video reminded me of the simple joys in life, and I'm grateful for it. So thank you. Sincerely, A Random Stranger on TH-cam. BTW, for anyone in the area, I recommend checking out Capone's Resturant. Its a little cheesy, but it's a dinner and a stage show, plus the drinks are good.
Same with me but moved further west. I also remember when it was called downtown Disney and not Disney springs. My aunt used to work at the central gift shop and would get me all the cool employee pins to trade.
Dude I went to Medieval Times as a kid and it was so sick. My family still talks about it. The museum of torture devices that you can walk through before the show is incredible!
Orlando resident here, we’re so lucky to have Mortem Manor at Old Town. A year round haunted house walk through attraction is a rare thing, and this is one of the absolute best.
21:36 The foopa is actually called an ischium! It might look naughty but it's just an attachment point for muscles, along with the pubis, a foopa in front of the legs. Humans have them too, but our hip bones are fused so they don't look like weird bulges
billiam’s got such a stellar sense of humour, his comedy is unmatched! love seeing him bounce off other people, especially the billiam team. savannah is such a welcome addition to videos!
I'm a HUGE Hollywood vehicle and car enthusiast and a few years ago for my 16th birthday, I made my parents drive across four states so I could go to the Dezerland Auto Museum. I drooled and fangirled the entire time (so many of the cars there were screen used and I got to sit in a few of them!). It was my own little slice of heaven and I would absolutely go back in a heartbeat.
I’ve been to medieval times exactly once when I was around 7 years old and it became a vivid memory for me. When the green knight threw roses into the crowd I hoped I’d get one and my little heart soared when my wish came true. I left gripping that rose so tight and feeling so special that night. Shoutout to you Mr. Green Knight, wherever you are.
Billiam, I cannot stress you enough - how me and my brother went to medieval times as kids 20 years ago.. I sent him the a like time stamped before you got to that part of the video and watched it together anticipating a good laugh about the place still being there. Then you mentioned the potato...we have had a joke between ourselves about the medieval potato that we reference frequently to this day. When me and my brother were tossed that crumpled piece of tinfoil , one of hundreds from a bin she carried onto our tray and asked "What's that?" - the cold dead 5 mile stare of our waitress who has seen too much war for her someone her age, in the most deadpan of voices telling me "It's a medieval potato." And floating away like a poltergeist - will never not be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I often wonder how she's doing. Miss, if your out there, or any former serfs of that establishment, I hope you found peace and happiness. It's like all my life and memories were lived up til now just for that moment of your video. Amazing.
as someone who grew up in florida i very rarely feel nostalgic about home but this vid really did it for me. there's something so special about sunny days with campy roadside tourist traps
I always recount this vivid nightmare as a child that I was trapped in a terrifying arcade with weird things like a bed of nails, hurricane simulator, a weird spinning light bridge, and a room where you play that board game where you strap a headset on and try to move a ball with your mind. I realize now that it wasn't a nightmare, and that I was in Wonderworks for some reason.
As a native of Pinellas County, I've been a regular at the Kissimmee/Orlando tourist traps since Disney World opened. My family were one of the first visitors to DW in 1971. My husband and I were regular attendees at Medieval Times and Sleuth Mystery Dinner Theater starting in 1997. The last time we were there was 2017. We went to every dinner show attraction except the Dolly Parton and Arabian Knights ones. With the exception of Medieval Times, the food in every single one was unpalatable! ESPECIALLY Pirate's Dinner Adventure! You seriously dodged a bullet with that one! And the food you got at Medieval Times was nothing like what they used to serve. It used to be a little different and really good! We hadn't been there for about 10 years prior to going again in 2017 and it was a shell of the attraction it had been. We decided we would not ever return after that. You actually missed out on the Kissimmee heyday. Did you even get to go to Ripley's Believe it or Not? Or is it gone? So many things are gone, even before covid hit. Like the Rainforest Café in Downtown Disney (also gone). So sad to see it all disappear. [And it's pronounced: kiss-I-me (short vowel "i", accent on the middle syllable)].
I used to live in the motel at the Big Orange when my parents lost the house, and we had 3 weeks until we became destitute. Good times :) Edit: Actually, this video was very nostalgic for me. Growing up in Kissimmee, Florida meant at least driving by a lot of these places rather frequently, pining out the window of the van as I beg to go to all these absurd tourist spots. We did end up going to a couple of them, like Old Town, Fun Spot, and I think Dinosaur Land? That might have been a fever dream. The late 2000s were a rough time for a lot of families, but there were some bright spots for me as a kid, even in the later months when we were practically homeless. Central Florida might be a cesspool of humidity, traffic, and mosquitoes, but it was my home.
The amount of nostalgia from this video is surreal. Born and raised in Sarasota and despite that, we didn’t go to Disney as much as most around here but the amount of times my uncle would take me to medieval times, gator land, and Dino land. Good times man
Billiam: you have no idea how excited my house got when you started talking about medieval times. The master of ceremonies is a family friend and the red knight is a beloved acquaintance. We went on our honeymoon 2 years ago for the 1st time, and thanks to those 2, we had an unforgettable experience. Was definitely worth paying the little bit extra for better seats.
i find the kitschy over the top american roadside attraction vibe oddly charming and whimsical. i love how you talked to about all the defunct attractions too
I will always hold true that Medieval Times is one of the best, most genuine casual good times you can have on a whim with friends. Tear into some sloppy food together and watch dudes do choreographed fights.
21:38 - "Well I'm glad you asked-" Hiya, Paleo-nerd here. If I'm not mistaken, that "fupa" would represent the "ischium" part of the pelvic bone. The prong-like structure of a Saurischian ("lizard hipped") dinosaur's pelvic bones are often separated into 3 distinct regions; the illium (the big anvil-shaped part on top), the pubis (the "prong" facing down) and last the "ischium" (the "prong" facing back). These would be seen in theropod and sauropods respectively. Granted, that "bulge" would certainly not be as exaggeratedly "bulging" in an accurately portrayed theropod dinosaur. Older paleo-art of dinosaurs often shrink wrapped their dinosaur subjects and as a result you tend to see certain bones bulge out of their subjects and otherwise looking very emancipated. Ornithischian ("bird hipped") dinosaurs have a similar hip plan, but was a bit different; which you'd see in hadrosaurs, stegosaurs, ceratopsians, pachycephalosaurs, etc. Also I love your videos! Keep up the great work!
As a former dinosaur-fanatic who has lapsed since he became an adult, I thank you for this information that cleared up a lot of questions from my childhood and informed me that a depiction I thought realistic was in fact affected by the biases and less than stellar practices of old.
Old Town once had a concert hall hosting Wolfman Jack bring classic 50s rock groups back together for fantastic shows. I loved the Saturday night classic car shows with the theme announced over store front intercoms. "Friday night is for dating, BUT, Saturday nights are for cruising!"
Finally, another person who has actually gone to Dezerland. I went last time I was in Florida because it was aggressively advertised to me constantly, and finally I was like "fiNE, I'LL GO TO ORLANDO'S LARGEST AIR CONDITIONED ATTRACTION". It was basically completely empty, almost desolate. There were cars in boarded-up storefronts. Tiny knock-off Tron lightcycles meandered by. I thought I had gone to Floridian entertainment purgatory. It was like a fever dream. What an incredible space.
I remember going there when I was a young kid, my sister and I went to the mini golf place and requested Adele lmao. We had forgotten what the place was called, just had this memory of mini golf and this video finally answered our question I think there used to be a movie theatre in there as well?
I went to gator land with my family a while back and we “wrangled “ the gator as well, I went first, then my brother, then my sister. She was so scared that she wouldn’t sit all the way down on the gator, she’d just barely hover over it, but the guy running the show wouldn’t let her leave until she sat on it. She was flipping out but he literally wouldn’t let her walk away. Everyone in line was cheering her on (mostly cause she was holding up the line I’m sure) and finally, she taps the gator just barely. Everyone cheers, I kid you not, and we are finally allowed to leave. 10/10, would love to go again
There are so many negative reviews for Gatorland about the way that the animals are kept/treated Keeping an alligators mouth tied up so that people can SIT ON IT and take pictures is sad
That’s standard procedure for handling Gators. The tape doesn’t hurt them, and you don’t want some poor tourist to lose a hand because they were stupid and put it in front of an alligators mouth.
@@sleepy_parrotno they can’t that’s literally the whole reason they tape their mouth shut that’s pretty standard procedure with dealing with crocodilians for decades
@@gabrieldnchf2822 maybe contexts really make the difference but I have literally watched gators being taken in snap the tape animal control puts on them, my local lake has a big gator problem and they’re all taken by the government once they reach a certain size
You know a museum is gonna be good when they force you to watch an entire PBS documentary. Shout out to the Tennessee Williams museum in Key West for that same reason.
as a native floridian for 29 years who went to orlando Constantly over the course of those years, this made me smile, ah the 192 and int'l drive, my old friends, and the Always Under Construction I-4. i never went to gatorland or dino world, but seeing medieval times, old town, icon park, and wonderworks made me happy -- esp old town, that was one of our usual haunts for my entire childhood, we used to stay in the nearby hotels and walk there, man, its good to see you featuring it
As someone who grew up going to Disney almost yearly, sometimes twice a year but hasn’t been in about a decade, seeing all of these attractions just gave me so much nostalgia. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve passed by these places, never going to them, but they still felt like a part of the experience to me.
I actually went to Pirate Adventures when I was in high school as part of my marching band's annual Orlando spring break trip. We left the Disney/Universal bubbles to have a "special dinner" there and we all wore eye patches and bandanas. I was seated in the red pirate's section. It really just is Medieval Times but with a different theme, and Caribbean-ish food instead of medieval food. Clearly it had an impact on me bc I still remember it like 15 years later lmao
What timing! I'm writing a paper for a master's class in cultural heritage right now about kitschy/more local tourism outside of Disney and shops on 192 is a topic!!
@@Last_Person Yeah, it has been! I have to look at four local cultural heritages of an area. I chose Kissimmee bc I live there for a few years, and the zaney tourist shops/stops (I literally lived behind one) was an obvious choice. But its been fun to do a deeper dive into the area and learn about things I missed out on, bc working 50+ hours a week for Disney lives little time to be a person.
Feels weird seeing a video about my hometown of Kissimmee. I used to feel kind of embarassed by these tourist traps when family and friends would visit, but the camp of it all has kind of grown on me :) i absolutely love gatorland
To paraphrase Guy Fieri: "If you can't find something fun to do in Florida, you're just boring!" Compared to most other places, Florida really does have a LOT more fun things to see and do! Oklahoma, where I live now, is SO boring in comparison! Yet, when I lived in the Orlando area to work at Walt Disney World (in 2002, 2009, and 2021-22), I very rarely went anywhere besides Disney World itself. The only non-Disney places I visited were Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park Zip Line, Universal Orlando Resort, Orlando Cat Cafe, the Mall at Millennia, Indian Rocks Beach on the Gulf Coast, and Ormond Beach on the Atlantic Coast. I really wish I would have done more, but I suppose I can come back someday (if I can ever afford it again).
Used to live in Sanford for 5 years and man this is full of memories. Fun fact, a lot of high schools in the area do their after prom party at Gator World. For 4 of the 5 years I lived there, I worked at jewelry stores, a hair salon, and a place that was for bridal and formal wear and the amount of girls/guys that wanted some sort of camo for their prom and weddings is far too high.
Something I always point out to anyone coming down to visit Central Florida: You can see launches from Kennedy Space Center from Orlando--including from the theme parks--as long as you have a clear east-north-east view. It's worth checking the launch schedule when you're down to see if you might be in a place to see it. Don't plan your day around it, though, as they often get scrubbed.
Billy and Savanah are like the combined energy of two ex-theater kids who are finally in a relationship that isn't toxic and I am both cringing and here for it
Theyre for real such lovable dorks. Theres certainly a lot second hand embarrassment in their interactions, but its also kinda wholesome. Gotta respect how they went on a vacation, filmed it all, make it into a tour guide, profit off it, all while having a blast doing it.
i like how you skipped from festival bay straight to dezzerland, skipping artigon all together, loved festival bay because it wasnt that busy, but it was never ment to be
You forgot "Showcase of Citrus" along rt 27. Catch a ride on a giant monster truck through Citrus fields, pet exotic animals, and take a picture under a shark
I believe you're confusing Ripley's with Wonderworks. Wonderworks is the upside down building, Ripley's is the one that looks like it's half sinking in the ground at an angle. Edit: Oh maybe you meant it was "like a" as in similar to a Ripley's which yes it kind of was even with the actual Ripley's being along the same International Drive.
I love that you do videos about Floridia’s weird culture. My grandparents used to live in lake placid Florida and I loved visiting them during spring break in elementary school bc florida is always weird and fun
I live and grew up in Orlando. Love gator land when I went twice. Medieval times was great when I was a kid. I remember our school taking us on a field trip there. So many memories in Orlando.
At 1:33 when I lived in the Orlando area to work at Walt Disney World for a combined 19.5 months in 2002, 2009, and 2021-22 I NEVER saw a single alligator, not even once, that was wild! I saw signs near almost every body of water warning that alligators were nearby, but never saw any in them and I went near those bodies of water almost every day!. The ONLY alligators I saw were ones in captivity at Disney's Animal Kingdom and the baby ones at Congo River Golf near Universal. So, I am very skeptical that "every" body of water actually contains alligators.
Briefly Dezerland was a shopping market called Artegon that had a ton of shops from small local artists and businesses. Miss it a lot, I only go to Dezerland now for the Cinemark in the building
Well, *not* taping it's mouth and doing that would be worse. They are big lizards with big lizard brain. They *will* nibble a couple fingies, a hand, or an arm off eventually. you know, as a treat. I'm not a gator engineer, can't say how it's effectin em, but the tape is the only part I can say for sure is good.
agreed, its definitely animal abuse. i wish there were laws against this sort of thing. even seaworld's swimming with dolphins attraction has these issues, they let people ride the dolphins, and its come out that thats incredibly stressful for them and hard on their bodies. its probably the same for the gators.
Universal is actually kind of worth it if you're a local or from Tampa and get the second highest tier annual pass, I pay like $57 a month to be able to keep it and I at least go once a month to Universal and Islands, it's really not bad. Best part is, that one doesn't have any blackout dates and you get free parking so you're saving $30 on parking every time you go, and you can go anytime of the year except for Christmas and Thanksgiving. It's actually a common thing for people to do in their twenties who want to be able to find friends and or a fun spot in Central Florida to just hang out with friends
I absolutely love this video because I’ve lived in this exact area of Florida for decades and grew up with the parks and a lot of these places !!! It’s really fun to have such a nostalgic video of them all, you wouldn’t believe how many there USED to be that you missed! Edit: “I’d die for US-192” BRO NEVER THOUGHT ID HEAR THAT I CANT BREATHE
Billbert I attended the Pirate Adventure Land show when I was a wee lad and it was a foundational memory for me. Half the actors were clearly intoxicated, and not in a quirky Jack Sparrow way but in a sad trashy way. At some point i was conscripted into the show as a child soldier. I am begging you, be our inside man and find I way to get into that show. I NEED to know what its like today.
My family saved up for probably 2 or 3 years to go to Universal, and we finally made it happen for my 11th birthday. We rented a car, went to Cape Canaveral for a day, then checked into one of the cheaper hotel options and finally went to the park. I had an amazing time but my mom was very overwhelmed and we were going to maybe go to Disney World but she just did not have the bandwidth for that shit lol. I’ll have to maybe try to make it back to Orlando again someday. This video actually makes it seem very chill and fun and it has actually inspired me to make a video about tourist attractions in my own adopted hometown of Minneapolis. I’m a big fan of Americana and living in the Midwest I get to see a lot of big concrete statues and little tourist traps but nothing to this scale.

And before that it was festival bay and had a vans skate park
NOOOO THAT USED TO BE ARTEGON??? I WANTED TO GO AT SOME POINT 😭😭😭
I've seen the evolution of that place throughout my life. I've been going to the Cinemark movie theater there since 2007. Always amazed how the Putting edge golf has survived the whole time.
I remember (and still call) it Festival Bay. Still go for the Bass Pro and miss the Vans skate park.
My family and I went to Gatorland while on our trip to Disney World. I ran into the back of a guy's calves with my electric wheelchair, and my cousin ate a raw hot dog 10/10.
No such thing as a raw hotdog.
@wheels-of-terror you lived up to your username that day.
God i love the context added to your name
"You can always hit the pen in the car before you go inside."
This is the understanding more people need.
This part had me absolutely cackling, as a Floridian that is exactly what I do before entering any overpriced establishment

The EpiPen?
I'm from Glen Rose and went when that location open in 2008
I've lived near Plant City my entire life, and Dinosaur World was my favorite place as a kid.
There's a national guard armory near there, i still have a video somewhere of me driving a humvee in front of Dinosaur World 😂😂
Fun fact: at the same exit as Dinosaur World, if you go down the road that runs between the two gas stations you'll find Keel and Curley Farms, which is a fantastic winery.
@@weird.wild.wonderful Yes! My husband and I moved out of Florida a couple years ago and they are definitely one of the things I miss!
Glad I came to the comments because I’ve just been googling for the last 10 minutes trying to find something 😂
Ok good, im not the only one who found nothing then
Same can’t find anything
you can find the articles by looking up "gator jungle plant city arrests;" it was actually in 1997! crocodiles were indeed extingushed :(
I googled something along the lines of "gator jungle 6 arrests 1990" and found out what he was talking about. in 1997 six people between the ages of 15-20 broke in and beat two crocodiles to death with wooden planks. dinosaur world opened up a year later.
kind of wish he gave more of a warning about what the event entailed bc it was really upsetting finding that out
The Wizard101 combat theme in the background towards the end of the medieval times part hit me with an insane nostalgia wave
Call me crazy, but I love tourist trap type places over major packs. They can be strangely charming.
I also love being a tourist in my own town, like going to my local tourist traps & roadside attractions as a field trip.
EDIT: to be clear, my local environs are not widely considered to be a destination of choice; not globally, or even regionally lol
It depends on the price to be honest
honestly I got super interested in gatorland seeing how they've spun it from "we breed gators here" to "we help rescue gators that wouldn't survive in the wild" and offering cool little things like feeding the gators and the "wrestling" photo ops. and for quite a bargain compared to sea world, and probably far more ethical.
"Can be" is the key word here, I think.
Took my daughter to Disney and Gatorland... she didn't wanna leave gatorland.
Did you go to Cypress Creek?
@Oddplanet99 Nope, I went to OCSA at the time
if you mean the crystal shop with all the dreamcatchers hanging arounds, then yes, its open, saw it a few months ago.
I’m right there with you. Just moved across the country and desperately needed this hit of nostalgia.
Same with me but moved further west. I also remember when it was called downtown Disney and not Disney springs. My aunt used to work at the central gift shop and would get me all the cool employee pins to trade.
whoever put wax figures in Florida is a crazy person
It's like making a house out of ice cream.

billiam’s got such a stellar sense of humour, his comedy is unmatched! love seeing him bounce off other people, especially the billiam team. savannah is such a welcome addition to videos!
That’s very good to know - only so much caught my eye, but I’m sure if you know what you’re looking at it’s way more interesting
Amazing.
Its a medieval potato!

It feels so weird whenever I see anyone talk about Dinosaur world. I drive by it every day, and that garfield looking T-rex is always a highlight.
Hit the pen in the car had me dying 😂
that is the way
I used to live in the motel at the Big Orange when my parents lost the house, and we had 3 weeks until we became destitute. Good times :)
Edit: Actually, this video was very nostalgic for me.
Good times man
The guy at orange world handing u a sample with tongs and you just touch the whole thing 😂😂
Billiam: you have no idea how excited my house got when you started talking about medieval times. The master of ceremonies is a family friend and the red knight is a beloved acquaintance. We went on our honeymoon 2 years ago for the 1st time, and thanks to those 2, we had an unforgettable experience. Was definitely worth paying the little bit extra for better seats.
i find the kitschy over the top american roadside attraction vibe oddly charming and whimsical. i love how you talked to about all the defunct attractions too
“You can always hit the pen in the car before you head inside” absolutely great advice
God I'd love to see Jenny Nicholson do this exact video idea as well
Billiam infodumping about alligators is adorable.
I will always hold true that Medieval Times is one of the best, most genuine casual good times you can have on a whim with friends. Tear into some sloppy food together and watch dudes do choreographed fights.
21:38 - "Well I'm glad you asked-"
Hiya, Paleo-nerd here.
I think you mean emaciated, unless you're saying the dinosaurs look liberated?
As a former dinosaur-fanatic who has lapsed since he became an adult, I thank you for this information that cleared up a lot of questions from my childhood and informed me that a depiction I thought realistic was in fact affected by the biases and less than stellar practices of old.
Old Town once had a concert hall hosting Wolfman Jack bring classic 50s rock groups back together for fantastic shows. I loved the Saturday night classic car shows with the theme announced over store front intercoms. "Friday night is for dating, BUT, Saturday nights are for cruising!"
"I wasn't scared of the gator at gatorland. His shift was almost over" gives so much Tim Robinson energy.
Dezerland is an experience, not one id call fun, but an experience nonetheless
I remember going there when I was a young kid, my sister and I went to the mini golf place and requested Adele lmao. We had forgotten what the place was called, just had this memory of mini golf and this video finally answered our question

@@swoopingisbad5617 yep it was an epic theatre i think it was called
I had the opportunity to go to Gaterland for my first time just last month. As a born and raised Utahn, it was an absolute blast

There are so many negative reviews for Gatorland about the way that the animals are kept/treated
Keeping an alligators mouth tied up so that people can SIT ON IT and take pictures is sad
That’s standard procedure for handling Gators. The tape doesn’t hurt them, and you don’t want some poor tourist to lose a hand because they were stupid and put it in front of an alligators mouth.
I will not stand for any Gatorland slander!
as a Floridian, I can confidently say if the gator wants to break the tape, it can do so very easily 😭
@@sleepy_parrotno they can’t that’s literally the whole reason they tape their mouth shut that’s pretty standard procedure with dealing with crocodilians for decades

I’m obsessed with these kind of places and roadside attractions. I live in the UK so it’s nice to see videos from other places I may never visit
I know a lot of people from the Uk who’ve come to Orlando. Don’t give up on your dreams!
You can do it
As someone who grew up going to Disney almost yearly, sometimes twice a year but hasn’t been in about a decade, seeing all of these attractions just gave me so much nostalgia. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve passed by these places, never going to them, but they still felt like a part of the experience to me.
The dragon sneezing in the Chocolate Kingdom video made me laugh way more than I should probably admit. xD
My mother visited USA (and Florida) a few years before I was born. So it was fun seeing some of the places she has mentioned over the years.
What timing! I'm writing a paper for a master's class in cultural heritage right now about kitschy/more local tourism outside of Disney and shops on 192 is a topic!!
That sounds like such an interesting topic to go into
@@Last_Person Yeah, it has been!

That upside-down building is way cooler than when I went there in the 90’s. It used to be like a Ripley’d Believe it or Not place.

Miss it a lot, I only go to Dezerland now for the Cinemark in the building

agreed, its definitely animal abuse. i wish there were laws against this sort of thing. even seaworld's swimming with dolphins attraction has these issues, they let people ride the dolphins, and its come out that thats incredibly stressful for them and hard on their bodies. its probably the same for the gators.

Right from the intro you can tell Billiam's absorbed all those Travel/Discovery channe shows, this feels right at home with them
