Connect has become one of my personal obsessions when it comes to the art of using just simple shapes, lines to create atmosphere and incite emotions, either discomfort, unpleasant, or feelings of despair. To say this is one of my most anticipated projects to release would be an understatement, and damn it's like christmas has come early since I really didn't expect it to drop now. Despite 2.2 more streamlining the rough and static-y looks via the introduction of shaders, DISCONNECT still stands out against most other projects that fall into the category effect levels for its unrelenting nature both in difficlty and style that created such an oppressive and terrifying atmosphere, sending a clear message to the players that this space really is not made to appease others but to represent something more personal to the creator. And even if it was more "feel" over "form" that you chose to go by with this project matter of the fact is that it's spectacular, from the insane gameplay gimmicks, environment that hardly is inviting but intriguing nonetheless, and great utilization of the new features this is nothing short of breathtaking really. You knocked it out of the park this time ❤
was here for connect, stayed for disconnect. i felt everything, and physically jumped when i saw the wave of color for the first time in the level. about to read the document now, and im hoping that things are looking up, just maybe, as it was thought to, as the way i remember connect seemed to look at its ending. edit: read it, saw it. well done, mcres. well done. i remember speaking to you, about the possibility of conversation if we should ever want to, potentially to grow as friends. the offer is always there. you know where to find me, and if anything, my heart goes out to you, man. im incredibly and wonderfully happy for you.
1:37 reminds me of the second part in phobos!! anyway, this is genuinely so phenomenal. i'd love to see what this looks like without the shaders. just to see the comparison. but holyyyy
@@mcresgd that's actually kind of what i'm interested in. like, how did you get to this?? what did you do to make it look like this? what deco looks like this with what shaders and triggers?
@@TYsdrawkcaB for a few of the parts its not even shaders, just some weird blending stuff but for the cube and robot its sepia and greyscale on really high values. considering making a video explaining the parts and how they work if theres interest!
forgot to actually explain the important part- with sepia and greyscale up super high, objects with more than one colour baked in have reaaaallllyyyy weird interactions with white objects. i personally use the particle clous and rock objects a lot but a lot of things work for this.
ive alr given this lvl its flowers when i talked to u abt it in the control group channel but this is genuinely one of the best effect lvls ive ever seen nd one of my fav levels to come out of this year the way the lvl progresses in its deco and effects and colors is smth ive never rly seen before nd is extremely unique nd overall im super proud of u 4 getting this out , bc id say this is 100% ur best work nd i cant wait 2 see what u have in store next ^^

Congratulations, you found the line, you sufed the edge, and at times crossed it. You reached the limit of how insanely distorted and tripped up and haywire you can make the screen while it still being understandable, and not total bs. You did it! Most of the level is still within the "acceptable" zone, but I genuinely think that the few craziest parts are past the line. I will not call that a bad thing, but I would not envy anybody trying to beat this level. Some parts are just memory, not because of branching or intricate design, but shear overload of visuals, wich I think just makes the memory harder. Epic level, I'ma go get my eyes checked.
