In some wierd way I liked that blue oddly shaped guitar. I think you said it was a Gibson. If it would've been the right shade of green with its shape it could have been called the Gumby .

Ummmm, Trogly? I realize you're not a bass player, but I really think you should familiarize yourself with more bass models and the history of the instrument. The PJ pickup configuration is almost always done with the J in the bridge and the P in the "neck" position (kind of a middle position getting closer to the fretboard). I'm not intending to be harsh or expect anything unrealistic, but the Fender models with the PJ set, or Ibanez, Schechter, or dozens of other builders, have had that configuration for many, many years. Very cool video otherwise!

That’s a Hondo II professional series. They made many different models that were tributes to famous guitars. They are pretty good, but definitely vary sample to sample. You want to play it before you buy it. If it looks like someone played it bunch though, I tend to think it was a nice guitar at some point. Memphis is another brand where you will find some gems among them if you try enough of them.

Craziest double neck I ever saw: 12 string, and baritone. It was a one off custom built to look like a Danelectro. Nils Lofgren from Wilco owns it, he found it in a pawn shop, happened to know the maker, and called to ask about the guitar, the maker was upset, because that particular guitar was a custom order for someone and he couldn’t believe the guy sold it! Ouch.

The cracks at each fret on the binding is not checking . The fingerboard shrinks so the frets stick out causing cracks. Checking happens when you take a cold guitar out of your trunk and open it in a warm area. The finish expands and contracts at a different rate then the wood so it starts checking. Over time it gets worse. I opened a 56 reissue Strat that was cold and watched the finish crackle. The next day it was gone but it will keep doing that if you are not careful.

The guitar at 15:30, if I remember the story told by the vendor, is a brand where they do the rough work in Asia (Singapore?) and ship them for finishing in Los Angeles. Looked like a very high class guitar for about $800.

I did run into Norm. If you watch his video unloading, he also bought a Schwinn Sting Ray someone was selling. He always hits the Texas shows. He chased me down once but his face fell when he read the "Orville" on the headstock of the Black Beauty I was holding. 😁

Got to play a 54' strat selling for $50,000.
Also a bunch of other stuff, like some really old Gretsch guitars, that were decently priced.

In the late 70s I had a 78 and a 79 Hondo Les Pauls..... one cherry burst, and one tobacco burst... they were made in Japan, and both had factory Dimarzio pickups.... great players. They also both had Les Paul custom style necks, and headstocks. Just sold the cherry burst couple years ago when someone offered me some rediculus money for it.

Is that 335 at 17:00 a 62 - headstock inlay is below the A and B tuners. Looks more like a late 66 - hard to tell - knobs are reflector so pre late 66. Nickel pickup covers - there was some mixing of nickel and chrome until 66. Bit of a head scratcher actually - seems to have full Mickey Mouse ears but that did happen in 66 for some reason - saw a 345 1966 with full MM ears.
