The Strokes started out as a rock band in my home town that hit it big with their debut album in 2001. This song is from their second album in 2003 after gaining lots of hype and media attention. The Strokes won Best Rock Album at the Grammys in 2021.
I gotta say it's weird for me to see someone referring to any part of NYC as a "hometown" 😂 What part of Brooklyn? I wasn't born in Brooklyn because my mother didn't want to give birth in Kings County lol. But my family was living in East New York at the time and I lived there until 16 and then moved to Queens.
I remember I heard this song on the radio about 20 years ago in the truck and I asked my dad for a pen so I could write it down. He said "you want to download THIS song?" lol hell yeah I did and still love it
Ahhh this is the soundtrack to my college experience 😍😍 Consider checking out Interpol. "Evil" or "C'mere" are both great choices to start with, but you can't go wrong with any of their songs.

What's even crazier is the singer basically wrote the whole song lol. Really underrated musician and song writer.
Even crazier that he wrote every part of every song in the first two albums
Julian is insane
@@massimolissandron901can you imagine the burnout? After 2 albuns and 200 shows in like 5 years?

Sincerely one of my favorite music videos of all time. Simple but effective
I recommend their song Last Nite. Specifically the music video if you want to feel nostalgic.
belz, i was just about to say the same thing! the video is a great one too.
The live version from Later with Jools Holland is the best.
Great observation on Green Day/punk tempo, as the Strokes were inspired in part by punk. I know, Green Day is "pop" punk but still, a punk subgenre.
Yay, i love me the strokes! and the simplicity of this video brings out each musician...always been my fave.
that 80’s band from europe that they remind you of is probably television!!!
Television was an American band
awesome video man, more strokes and include this guy he has some really cool takeaways from the music
Much enjoyed the strokes reaction ! they have great variety
Check out their songs "Someday" or "Last Nite"
hell yeah. great song, great band
Listen to the entire album "The New Abnormal". Pretty amazing record from start to finish.

Mine too, girl, mine too. Most fun of my life!!
I wanted to be Julian as a teen boy.
Hard to explain by the strokes is the single best song of this century. You should definitely listen to it next
The Stranglers, The Clash!
More Strokes please
Modern english was a good take with comparing the strokes to.
The Strokes has always reminded me a bit of Genesis, at the time of Peter Gabriel, apart from the differences
If you want more of The Strokes (who wouldn't?) and to see a different side of their sound, try Slow Animals.
Please react to ode to the Mets by them!
I just realized this band reminds me a lot of Franz Ferdinand
They all were influenced by The Strokes. The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys et cetera.
You seem to like them. Maybe do another reaction!
❤️
I hated this indie wave in HS. Now at 36 I fucking looooove it.
🤟🏻
Funny how he said 80s European, they were bigger over there than the states
The Police he's thinking of
Please react to Alone Again VEVO performance by The Weeknd
You should check out last nite
The Cars
Hey, ... what about Rammstein Adieu? ;-)
I did that one...but I saw that a video came out, so I will have to get a guest and do that video. That will be cool!

The 80’s band you’re thinking of may be Radiohead
Radiohead is a 90's and 2000's band.
