    The best ability is availability. That’s what makes me wonder about Davis.

    This aged absolutely horribly. He should be arrested for that performance last night

    This very well could be his last year here. The fact that he doesn’t practice (and even Mike Vrabel said that was one of the main reasons why Tennessee was willing to let him go) is not gonna fly anymore. He OBVIOUSLY gets a pass for last year but he BETTER get his shit together!!!

    • @The_Football_Scout

      I did not know that Vrabel said that. That's unfortunate if it's true. Davis will only count 2M if cut after this year.

      @@ragingoracle6239 he doesn’t always show up to practice, if he does he doesn’t always practice. When he was a titan, there were already concerns about work ethic and the lack of work he put into training. He has high upside, it’s just that he doesn’t always want to put in the work

      @@doctorcrew2388 You say that, but he was still a top 20 Guard overall in the league when Poles signed him.. So maybe he really is that good, that he can miss some practices and still be a top 20 guard in the league. He is literally one of the top 5 guards when it comes to reach blocking.. His ability to get to the outside shoulder of a wide 3tech is just nuts. Bears are lucky to have him and all this talk about replacing him is crazy.. with who?? There is no one else on the team that does what he does, not even #58. He is the best reach blocker on the team and you absolutely must have at least on great one in the run game or your options are severvely limites.. Ppl can talk crazy about him, but ppl that think they have a better option on this team dont know offensive line play.. He is a special player.. You lose a lot of options with someone else playing that spot.

      @@ragingoracle6239 That’s what I’m saying. He’s extremely talented and many people think he isn’t BECAUSE of his bad rep for not liking to practice and him seeming like he doesn’t care as much as other players. He has the potential to be a top guard, but he doesn’t put in the work for it.

    Great Breakdown man! What do you think makes Davis so good at reach blocking? I am a high school lineman and I'm trying to get better at reaching.

    • @The_Football_Scout
      @The_Football_Scout  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it's a combination of things. But the first is snap timing. If you can quickly explode out of your stance and jump as the QB is about to say the final word of his cadence, thatll go along way. Another thing is figuring out the depth you'll end up needing to give up when you're reaching. So if you're a RG reaching a 3t/4i, you might need to get out of your stance and move back 1/2 a yard. And you also have to think about the DL and what he's going to try to do when he sees you reaching. I would think he would try to get his hands on you. I know a few good OL coaches, what area are you in?

    • @Fluffy2Buffy
      @Fluffy2Buffy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@The_Football_Scout Former D lineman here.. Another thing I can say for sure is that working on having consistent get off and stance is also critical. Example, In most games you can Figure out when a Guard or Tackle is going to pull or dive bloc, or pass block by how their holding their weight. if you get lazy or tired it becomes obvious that say, if your leaning to one side for example I'm going to assume your about to pull the same direction, or another tell. it goes the other way around. As a D-line man, there are sometimes where you get on all 4s just to pop up and throw. in other words, half the fun is the Game within the game. Hope that helps. Lastly...CORE CORE CORE CORE.. work on your CORE.

    Whitehair didn't play center for most of the season, it was Lucas Patrick #62. Whitehair #65 played mostly at LG, firstly to cover for Jenkins when he was injured and then when Jenkins moved over to RG when Davis was out. They did try Whitehair at center for a game but his snapping was so erratic they benched him. Both Patrick and Whitehair were really poor which is why neither is still with the team.

    Doesnt matter when you miss over a third of the season. Our lack of depth was really put on display last year with having so many people out on our O-Line. If we stay healthy this unit could definitely perform average to above average rather than bottom tier like its been the last 2 years

    Something that jumps out at me watching all these Bears blocking videos is:
    1) Lucas Patrick was bad LOL
    2) Cole Kmet is not a good blocker. He just kinda runs up to guys and gives them a little shove, if he was more aggressive and committed more then a lot of these plays would break for decent gains if not touchdowns.

      th-cam.com/video/FiiK21VzI_o/w-d-xo.html shows that almost every player on the Bears' o-line was either coached to or was intent on sabotaging Fields. In just the 1st 23 minutes we see about nine separate Packers not get blocked.
      & that's just the first half of one game.
      As the narrator himself says, he's not gonna point it out Every Time It Happens because he's trying to focus on the QB analysis. So keep in mind that 22:45 what we see Davis do was before this tragedy, as well as that it's not the only time this game that happened or the only game it happens in. This is what the Bears have been doing to Fields *since at least '22.*
      I think the reason they get away with it yet are not ranked lowest in either run _OR_ pass-blocking is that no rating system counts blocks that o-lines don't attempt, only ones they do. So running away from blocks, which they do regularly doesn't affect their scores.
      It's the only thing I can think of because when I watch film of the Giants or Titans' o-lines from last year, both rated worse, I don't see play as bad as this. This is why /fields eventually developed Bad Footwork. Imagine watching your own teammates do this to you week in, week out, not only never apologizing, not only doing it again, but going over to the sidelines & hearing No Coach even mention it, like it's normal. Yeah. It was intentional.

    I want to give him an excuse for playing so bad after his mom passed. thats horrible and Nobody should deal with that especially this young. However.. I lost my dad and that season and put in some of my best material. Granted I played defensive Line so, it really breaks down to take up as many blocks as you can for your brothers or get to BALL! I Suppose thats why they moved me out of O line...I in hindsight had no idea what I was doing so put the big fast dude on defense cause at least he doesnt have to remeber the plays...as much.
