I didn't let the end ruin the whole trilogy for me. However, the ending is paramount to a story, and when it's shit, people obviously get pissed off. Just imagine, you sit there for what, 70-80 hours(?), playing these 3 amazing games, and at the very end, you're left with a sour taste in your mouth.
I feel really bad for Casey. Every video with him is filled with hate comments just because they didn't like the ending. You do know that he's also responsible for everything else you liked about Mass Effect which is way more than the ending don't you? I mean without him there wouldn't even be a Mass Effect in the first place.

I love Altano's comedy bits, but I really appreciate these longer, more in-depth, interviews with game devs and other creative figures. Keep it up, guys.
I love BioWare but Casey totally just stabbed us in the back with that lie
Mass Effect 3 will and I think always be my favorite game. Yes, the ending was real dumb, a five year old could come up with a better ending. But the rest of the game made up for it to me. But, hell yes I'd like a new ending. It made me sad that my beloved franchised ended with all those unanswered questions.
I don't blame Bioware or Casey. All the blame IMO goes to EA!
Three things should be made mandatory in a gaming interview: You have to DIG for secrets, as many spoilers as possible, we want them, 2: Don't make jokes about a small tidbit reference only half the audience understands, and 3: Don't laugh at your own jokes. Just don't.
Easily the best interview that you've done, Greg. Asked the right questions and had enough of the "witty banter" to get him relaxed and ready to talk. I'd love to see more of this.
On a related note, I've had the CE on preorder from amazon since Nov and I can't wait for tomorrow.

I like Casey. Jaffe's interview was exceptionally great but that doesn't mean Casey's interview was bad. It's a very good interview actually.

ME3's ending totally ruined the replayability of ME1 and ME2 for me. I find myself staring at the brand new Shepard, standing on the Normandy with Nihlus, unable to give a shit about the 60+ hours of gameplay ahead of me, because I know it all ends in three different ways of sad.
Red explosion, blue explosion or green explosion, and no closure at all.

@TinnedWaffles first, you have an excellent point that i didn't recognize before, thank you. second, i still think it's wrong to have to pay 70$ for the full expirience, my anger comes from EA(or Bioware) thinking they can get away with such greed. what makes me even more angry is that they might actually get away with it, unless we gamers do something. i simply don't want the gaming world to fall prey to the corruption and greed that other entertainment mediums have.
while i respect casey hudson, but i still wish that he was a little funnier or at least more dynamic. also i want him to be more honest about his games. it seems like his answers are always advertisements for the game instead of honest, person to person, EA is not looking answers
@TinnedWaffles frankly we all need to think as inividuals and say no to this outrage. or at least have so little people buy it that they say "well, the jigg is up. we might as well make it free." one can only hope that the mass effect fans are pro-active.
Can't say Greg doesn't ask questions other interviewers wouldnt. Didn't expect him to ask about Arrival.
@TheHorrifichorror i understand this, but EA or Bioware could still have easily made the dlc free. my problem is not with thier being dlc, it's that the dlc is story important and costs money
Im sure if the sales for this game drastically decreased, Bioware would think twice about not renewing the ending
Too bad Bioware is a complete joke after the release of the disgraceful, simplified, obviously rushed, and with a terrible plot to boot: Mass Effect 2.
Amazing how a publisher can influence a game just based on the fact that the ever-growing ADD audience enjoy games that are simple to grasp and encourage linearity in between arbitrary choices and set-pieces. You sunk so low after creating KOTOR and the original Mass Effect because your age inherently made you forget what games used to be about
And...now we see that this guy did right. heh. The extended cut endings were..amazing. I was on the hatefest bandwagon...now, totally back on the fan bandwagon.
Thanks to Bioware turning a turd into a diamond, and =not= caving into the children in demanding to redo the ending, but instead, to explain your rather great ending.. It should have been done this way to begin with. 4/5.
And thanks to the respectful critics for pushing them on this. The ending was initially crap. now its brilliant.
Furthermore I think making a comparison between Mass Effect series, where you play and get attached to a person and its environment through one consisten story to titles like COD and Angry Birds, which are only shoot this'n'that is saying a lot about the narrow opinion you are harboring.
It's like comparing Avatar to Star Wars Series. Of course again on a whole diffrent level. By the way, Avatars ending sucked, but it's ok, it was a just A movie. Get it?
Would be true if I was a Gamer per se, which I am not. And the first time I saw the ending wasn't me gaming it myself, it was watching a Let's Play of another dude, I still had the same reaction. So there was no train to jump on. Furthermore I don't think not liking the end of ME3 is an act of a hater: if you make promises to people and get them to like "you" for a long period of time by reaching towards them, and in the end you decide to screw them, it's generally this kind of reaction you get.

Its not about changing the ending they r not, they might give another choice/outcome for those that fill let down. But no matter how metaphorically deep (via ur imagination) the endings are. They are all shallow, empty, jumps from A-Z, and in contradiction to cannon in a gazillion ways. U guys do realize there are tons of errors in the endings right? lol...Regardless a perfect ending should contain more closure with your team at the least. Its completely contradictory; as is the creator...
@MrTrty5 Sure, firstly why do the Mass Realys explode in all of them? I know he says they will but there is no reason why they should. Secondly My whole squad was on the ground sprinting towards the conduit and then somehow Joker is flying away from the exploding mass relays? How does that make sense? All the endings are almost the exact same had our choices in the game made no impact besides an artificial point metre and how much multiplayer we play. Who is this child, it is never explained
@Thwacker71 Despite this unprecedented Galactic alliance, ultimately he has no choice but those the Catalyst (stupid plot twist, final dialogue should be with Harbinger) offers to him, each fucking over everyone anyway. The Reapers still win. They allow themselves to be destroyed/retreat because they know they won. They forced you, organics, to bow to them. Galactic civilisation ends. Their mission to stop advancement of civilisation succeeds. As the Catalyst said: "There are other solutions".
@riffmasterJon Your choices make no difference. You destroy the Mass Relays. Galactic civilisation is either destroyed in a supernova (see Arrival DLC ) or stranded on Earth. What is the point of solving the Geth Quarian Conflict or curing the Krogan, when they'll never see each other again anyway? IMO, the key concept of Mass Effect is free will. It was never as Black and White as Synthetics vs Organics. It was the Reapers trying to assert control, and our desire to exist on our own terms .

No choice, no foreshadowing and vital concepts introduced just before the finale?
The ending betrayed the ideal that made Mass Effect great: your choices matter. This also applies to the story itself. Mass Effect is about free will: the Geth want to live on their own terms, as do the Krogan and Quarians. Shepard is the one willing to defy the Reapers and face them on his own terms, not submit like Saren or Illusive Man. In obeying the catalyst, he gives up.
Polarizing? The ending is just lazy. You know how you freed the Krogan and united the Quarians and the Geth? None of that matters, you are the pawn of a child/God/AI and you MUST bow to his will by choosing options he offers you, all of which destroys the Mass Relays and with it, Galactic civilization. Shepard defied Sovereign and Harbinger, but when it counts, he gives in? Your ending is so bad we prefer to believe it's all a hallucination. Read the fan endings, we put your writers to shame.
Hudson you shouldn't care if the endings were satisfactory towards you. The fact remains that the grand majority of ME fans did not like the ending. And as a company if your customers were unsatisfied then you need to mark it down as a failure. ME had a good run but you tripped at the end, but you know what u did so good up to that point we are willing to let u try that last lap again, Hell most would even pay for u to try again because we know u can do better
I agree:
Mass Effect 3 needs DLC for new endings (preferably good endings too where the relays would survive and possibly even Shepard)
-And to heighten the value of that DLC, why not add a new rifle or armor set? Maybe new weapon mods?
Because as of right now, the ONLY thing that the game has achieved is MORE QUESTIONS. Like is galaxy wide/cluster transportation ever an option again? Who surivives really? On the scenes Shep lives, does Shep ever get seen again? Who's that after the credits?
Question 1: How the fuck did the big fat ass cetadel move from the serpent nebula to the Sol System
Question 2: Why the fuck was joker running away from the battle
Question 3: How the fuck did my squadmates that where on earth with me 5 minites before the ending get onto the Normandy
Question 4: How the fuck does killing organics with synthetics (the reapers) save organics from synthetics -_-

@GrimInstincts Well, I expected Shepard and most of his crew to die. I know, I know "Most of our decisions didn't matter" but, going into a battle where your chances to win are so low... death is expected. And, this is just my personal opinion, I understand that everyone wants a happy ending, I did too, but I guess Shepard giving his life up was the price to pay for galactic peace.
@EllboGrease27 If i wanted to troll you i wouldn't even have to think about it... you would do it to yourself, and what better way to get people to not buy something then by going to a source of information, and pointing out the flaws? you say boycotting some giant corporation doesn't work? pretty sure all most Americans put an embargo on British goods.. i guess most Americans forget about that little thing called the American revolution? where good people finally had enough BS.
My problem with DLC is that its too expensive. I shouldn't have to pay as much for DLC as I did for the game. As it is, for PC at least if you want all the Mass Effect 2 DLC you'll have to pay an extra $7-8 because of Bioware's stupid points system. I didn't buy Mass Effect 2 DLC just because of the points system. How to do DLC: 1) don't use a points system that causes players to pay more than the DLC. I buy the DLC, I just want that, no stupid points)
To every single one of you who are too busy on flaming Casey for destroying Mass Effect, as you say he did:
Fuckin' remember that he was the one who came up with the damn idea, and he is one of the major people behind the Shepard we all know (not his dialogue, but many of the fundamental ideas behind the universe and shepards role)
Casey is responsible for the many flaws of the ending, but don't forget how much he's done for these games! He has put his heart and soul into this project!
@ForgorenWolf Speaking of paying, people raised (as of the 15th) $50,000 to try and persuade bioware to change it, that should tell them something right there.They said the ending was just to get people to talk but even if it is it was kind of a douche move to do and I'd find that as unsatisfactory as the endings themselves because that just meant they were fuckin with us the entire time....not cool, not cool
your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses and its fine. People will have fundamentally different viewpoints about the same thing often.
As for myself, I will be highly supportive of ME3 DLC so long as it is of high quality. Leviathan was a good start to me, but im most looking forward to the Omega (and rumored Citadel) DLCs that are planned.
Gruesome Greggy is a pretty kool and funny guy. He's a great writer, and has been involved in the games industry for years. That being said, he's been the host of a TH-cam talk show of this caliber for only a few months. I love Greg Miller but he kinda gets on my nerves on this show too. But to call him unprofessional, saying a monkey could do better??... dumb.
I got a question for Bioware, what in hell was with the lazy ending? If they were trying to make it more cinematic then they should never try it again because they ripped out everything I liked in Mass Effect endings like Triumph, choice, relation to the crew, and the feeling of doing it your way! I do not like it not in the least >:U

Some may hate mass effect 1 because the engine and everything but the reality is that me1 give the soul to me2 wich lacks of it and me 3 is basically a great game but the ending is a shit i mean is the same if you collect 2000 assets or 50000000 assets so the point of the game of collecting assets is pointless.
@flamingskullzee00 Apparently if you've romanced Tali in the previous game, and this game - you'll see a picture of her face in your suite on the ship. Though I've heard speculation how they barely tried, and they just changed an already made picture of a model. But I've not personally seen it myself, and you don't get to see her in-game (only the picture).
I know I wouldn't have the balls to straight up lie about the ending while being recorded and watches by hundreds of thousands of people while being uploaded to TH-cam so that everyone can see me saying that for years to come.
@MrTrty5 No it is actualy terrible, at first I thought it was lacking but actualy when you look back and see the others you can see for what it actualy is: a copy and pasted lazy-ass story that wasnt though through at all! It actualy doesnt make sense on so many points.
@Doobers86 Yeah but I hope they will not pay attention to their fans too much, because that is probably the reason why they didnt show Tali without mask. They were to confused from fan responses. Do you know what I mean? And also I am really glad it is not final ending.
@totitool Gamers spend most of their free time gaming. I highly doubt we'll see any doing any type of protesting. And while you think internet protesting may be viable, it's not because I'm pretty sure at the end of the day we just want to play the damn thing. Who cares about an extra few bucks?
@barnicleboy22 It was finished befor the game within the budget, so include it in the game. This is how they beat the 60 doller price, they take away part of the game and make it DLC and charge 10 extra dollers. The Caps really helped your case tho, ill give you that.

Yes because he and Mac Walters wrote that shitstain excuse of an ending without getting ANY feedback from any of the other writers and the fact that he thinks his ending is one of the greatest endings ever made when everyone else fucking hates it.

"We need to tell a great story for everyone." That's not possible and it's the wrong way approach ANYTHING! Trying to be everything to everyone is a recipe for failure. Phoney. I hate to think I gave my 60 bucks to THIS guy.
Casenoccio talking about mass effect... he says "most definitive and Climatic ending" and " not everyone has to have the same story ... " yeah right , all you get is 3 stupid anti-climatic endings and a whole lot of unresolved things.

And the Extended Cut did fuck all to bring closure to the series. Way too many unanswered questions, even with the Extended Cut (which, I'll admit, improved the overall quality of the game's last ten minutes).

hmmm maybe it wasn't a lie it was a ploy to make us angry and talk about the game and generate a lot of hype before the real ending the twist ending bioware promised is revealed.

Anyone why dodn't get the Prothean DLC and enjoys Mass Effect is missing out BIG TIME. He is a very important part of the story and has shit loads of good things to say.

@cocainmonster then don't buy it day 1...it will be available after...don't feel the need like you have to commit to buying it when the game launches.
With all due respect to Casey Hudson, Cyber Connect did a quadrilogy (.hack) and a trilogy (.hack//G.U.) before Mass Effect 1 even came out.

@zombiMessiah Bioware has done day 1 DLC before but there it was free with any new purchase of the game. I think it was done in Dragon age 2

@gbblackknight OK last time the Day 1 DLC the the guy you got free in the collectors that 90 so you pay 70 and not 60 for the main game
