I think the German officer, my apologies for not knowing how to properly write his name, should have also gotten a medal, after all he did gave his life, takes a unique type of man to do so.
I thought the same thing and I looked it up; you would be happy to know that Austria honored him as a hero and named a street after him, so that's close enough!

I learned about Castle Itter from Sabaton. Though, I believe the title should be changed. Saying those Germans were Nazis is disgraceful. The commander of the Germans actually got killed while saving the ex-primeminister of France, Paul Reynard

Wait so this is in fact Castle Itter? The title claims it was in ww1 not ww2
This was a battle where the Whermacht teamed up with the U.S. Army and fought against the SS. The United States didn't team up with Nazis, they teamed up with the German army and fought against them.
True the whermact were mostly soldiers that were conscripts or men who believed in Germany and not an ideology people always call the whermact nazis without realizing they were mostly guys forced into fighting they also hated the ss there references of the whermact refusing the ss aid

well, if you take a look at the Wehrmacht, they were really just the military, i think a lot of them did not want to follow the nazi regime, many of them were just soldiers. the SS, though, were essentially hitler’s personally paramilitary. so if you take a closer look at the germans fighting with the US during this battle, you’ll see why.

This conflict is one of the most concise, physical embodiments of the Benevolent vs. the Malevolent. The Benevolent being a group of individuals from vastly different backgrounds and experiences, coming together for what they knew to be a righteous endeavor of life-saving purpose; and the Malevolent being a lesser group of individuals, from very similar backgrounds, with a mindset and actions of horrific, self-centered, unsubstantiated-vengeful, extinction-destructive-purposed aggression.
You forgot to mention that during the battle, Jean Borotra, the tennis player mentioned at 2:08, allegedly vaulted off the castle wall to fetch the relief force, and led them to the scene.

There was a movie made about this a couple of years ago. Forgot the name but a good telling of the story. The saddest part indeed was the killing of the German Major.
When I initially heard of this story just a short time ago. I learned that the German military car sort of the equal to the Jeep was known as the Kubelwagon.

Ten of these videos taught me more about history than the entirely of my time in public school system.
