One of my favourite songs by Roxy Music: A hypnotizing melody paired with poetic, intelligent and touching lyrics - sophisticated and mesmerizing. The original is divided into two parts and starts with a rock song.

I think I have watched this video at least 50 times since yesterday. There is something mesmerizing to it... It triggers the same feeling I get from the very unique live version Stockholm 1976. Wonderful voice. She shows respect for the original while making it her own.
I fell in love for the song and tried to play, there's no way but respect the original version, the way Roxy Music sings is poetic and magnetic... Her version is spetacular too, her voice is amazing, i agree with you!

It has been close too seven years now since I was first transfixed by the Beauty of your voice as you danced the light fantastic with the words of heart and mind as laid too pen by my friend and yours . If Bryan has ever known the wonder of his lyrics they can be found in you . There is no shrinking world when you sing them . Only wonder and amazement !

One of my favourite videos (on TH-cam, generally) for three main reasons:
1) I am a Disciple of the Church of Roxy, Ferry, Eno, and Manzanera and this is easily my favourite song by any of the incarnations of the four. The melody is beautiful but it is the poetry of the lyrics that do it for me- playful yet sombre and poignant, gorgeous images, highbrow (holy with lots of soul melancholy shimmering!) references… transcendental brilliance. So it is always a pleasure to see people cover it and interpret it.
2) It has been said by critics that ‘Stop Making Sense’ by Talking Heads is the greatest music film ever made because when you watch it, you are watching sheer human joy being expressed onstage. Joy is charismatic and, by extension, contagious. A lot of cover videos on TH-cam can be performative but there is an organic and genuine happiness about this video. It is a cover lovingly performed and, as such, is a pleasure to watch.
3) One of the purposes of art is to connect human beings together. To take the Particular of the Personal and make it the Universal. To create something so that human beings can empathise with each other’s experiences and to contextualise our feelings and experiences as part of a condition much greater than ourselves and which has a commonality underpinning it. A means of helping us feel understood by showing how elements of the Other are also part of the Self. This video does this for me. Even when two people are in the same room, listening to a piece of music they both enjoy, there is the phenomenological gap where you do not know if what is appealing to other person, what they are ‘hearing’, is the same as what you do. What philosophers of mind call ‘propositional attitudes’. In this video, the quirky head movements along with Ferry’s idiosyncratic way of singing, the widening eyes and smiles at certain points are exactly as I do when I sing this. I get the sense that the delight this person gets in the song is the same as the joy I get from it, from the same things in the music. The ‘This person ‘Gets It’ and that, if you will, makes me feel more real’ thing.
