The scenery is coming along and adds a significant level of realism. My wife and I are traveling to Chicago in August. We should have a free day on August 23 if you are interested in having guests for a few minutes.
There's the final product Morgan is done and crossings are going in at Evanston. Now to start on the upper deck Aspen to Leroy, Carter, and Granger plus installing a view block for the Pocatello Sub then Granger itself. Once the top is done my favorite area Taggart Tunnel to Devils Slide and Croydon then June or July onto the modeled portion of the layout Wesvaco top level Echo Pass on the bottom level to Castle Rock. Can't wait until it is done.
Looking great! One thing to do when using tape for stripping, use Elmer Clear glue! It’s water clean up. I just spread it my finger! Works and looks great! Like your updates.
Very nice Daryl!! That striping tape looks great also your dispatch setup will be cool for times you just want to railfan you can click your routes and watch trains roll by!!!
@10:00 That's basically my backyard (20 min drive on the Nampa Sub) the next 2 sidings past Orchard would be kuna (where I live) then the 5 miles of Dubble track that starts just outside kuna. That lead into the Nampa yard before transitioning onto the Hermiston Sub.
decals dont stick well to "flat or Matte" painted surfaces at all, surface although smooth to touch is too uneven for decal to adhere to. I would recommend 1st clear gloss coat where you want the decal to set (hit is with a flat or matte clear when all done to seal the decal in. But model paint companies such as Tamiya and Vallejo offer decal set solutions that help soften the decal and allow it sink down to the contours better and the adhere better, Some of them are a pre and post solution some are not. 30 years of building military vehicles getting good looking decals on matte paint was a pain until I learned all this. Loving the work as always
The local crossing has road stripping on the wood of the crossing. Much of the white strip is worn off from weathering in spots. What's interesting is the new diamond with "See Tracks? Think Train" in it. A yellow diamond with black lettering.
8:11 I thought your original attempt on the yellow lines was an attempt at weathering. I don't know how often they paint lines in Utah, but your first try looked almost exactly like a street I drove down today. I think those lines are around two years old.
Sometimes the lines get messed up, but mainly the effect of age and weathering is that they just fade. I will be weathering this road as well as others.

Do you cover the entire road or just the striping?
Morning Daryl (Tuesday Morning in Aussie) again a great week on your layout. Looking great. Mike HO
Thanks 👍

That's the plan!
At the signaled/gated crossing, you may want to consider adding white “stop lines” parallel to the tracks.
Yes, will need ro add that.
@@EvanstonSub Noted in a DOT specification, it calls for 24” wide stripe, 8 feet “downstream” from the signal. Enjoy the videos!!!
Ooops - actually “upstream” from the signal.

My problem was that the decals came apart immediately when trying to remove from paper.

Looking sharp....
Thanks
looking good. Love CATS.
Thanks. So far, so good
Looking great. I feel like I'm on I-84 driving by Morgan.
Thats awesome, thanks 😁
A company called Highways and Byways model railroad graphics makes very nice road markings. I use them on my model railroad and work out very well!
I used them on my N scale layout. Very nice. Will probably use them again. Not really a lot of room for much more graphics at this location.
Nice update. Really liking the backdrop. Where did you get the crossing signals?
They are from Tomar from 2009! Got them from a friend who got them from an estate sale.
Looking like we're busy when I was out town Daryl I had good time my trip looking forward to next year I am doing it again next year
Sounds great!
@@EvanstonSub indeed I hope someday you go to that show

I didn't think that we were going to get an update thisweek
Better late than never!
