    I started carnivore about two months ago to reduce pain from fibromyalgia (and I need to lose a lot of weight). Seeing significant improvement in my pain levels after only a few days, I put my 42 yo daughter on the diet, as well. She is autistic, mentally handicapped, has lupus (and other autoimmune conditions), and has spina bifida occulta with neurogenic bladder, and was having considerable pain and other issues, mostly from the autoimmune diseases. It was hard to get her transitioned to the diet, but at this point she is readily eating our carnivore meals. And she is doing much, much better. She doesn't communicate well, but her behavior indicates much improved levels of pain and general function. I would say to parents that they should persist in getting their child transitioned to the diet. It may have to be done slowly, with incremental changes, but don't give up. The potential improvement is worth it.

    I have been doing the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting for two and a half years and my life is in a much better place. I’m a T2 diabetic and no long use two medications to control my diabetes. No longer need or use statins or medication for depression. Also deal with chronic pain including daily migraines and fibromyalgia. I restricted foods that are inflammatory to further help my conditions. Other conditions I live with I’ll bypass at this time. This is for folks like me to see this can work.

      Serrapeptase is used for painful conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel syndrome, migraine headache, and tension headache.
      Boswellia is a tree resin known for its ability to soothe joint, muscle, and connective tissue pain. It is also one of the rare treatments that decreases elastase, an inflammatory mediator found to be elevated in those with fibromyalgia.

      You need to read the side effects on this stuff!!! Drug interactions!!! It's NOT some miracle pill in a bottle. Take it with blood thinners & you'll bleed out!! I suffer with multiple serious diseases, started at 19yo. Don't you think I wish there was a miracle in a bottle for me? For everyone? There are NO miracle pills or food!!! Anyone says so is lying. I LOVVVE my vegetables & fruits. I could care less about meat. Proper food hasn't taken my insane chronic pain away. It's misleading, & a LIE to try & sell people a bill of goods that isn't true!! Plus it's immoral.

    Since adopting a high fat carnivore diet I am completely healed from nearly 30 years of obesity (I never control for calories, only for carbs, weight control is completely automatic) and my inflammatory arthritis, while still not completely gone, happens extremely rarely without any medication whatsoever.
    I also suffer from anxiety and while that's not gone, it's also much better managed and now take medication for it very rarely (as in I can go several months without any).
    The biggest improvement has been to my IBS, which used to be debilitating to the point of being disabling, and now usually consists of mild discomfort with very rare 1 to 3 day long flareups of intense but still manageable pain.
    Furthermore, after 2 years of carnivore, all of these symptoms seem to STILL be slowly and steadily improving. Better and better "usual state", and rarer and rarer flare-ups.
    Same deal with my GERD, which is almost completely gone with rare flare-ups.
    Interestingly, flare-ups of GERD, IBS and arthritis seem to happen together more often than not, enough for me to have noticed the pattern, which tells me that their underlying causes must be related.
    I have attempted to introduce small amounts of low carb vegetables but they usually result in flare-ups, which means that improvement to my chronic conditions is not caused by removing obesity from the picture (a common rebuttal to carnivore/keto/low carb). Interestingly, small amounts of low-fiber refined carbohydrates (sugar, refined/processed carbs like breakfast cereal or pastries) sit much better with me, so long as it's with moderation and every once in a while (large or frequent portions will induce flare-ups as well). Also, I seem to have very few problems with full fat dairy, so long as total carb intake is kept in check. If fermented, there's pretty much zero issue. If in milk/high lactose form, there is sometimes a very small amount of bloating, but even this is rare.

    Had to start a keto diet for gallbladder removal op. I've got 9 chronic illnesses in addition, 4 autoimmune. & Menopausal flushing. Almost instantly, hot flushes ceased. Fatigue from fibromyalgia which has been increasing exponentially in the last couple of years, has reduced noticeably. I've only been doing it a couple of weeks! I also lost a significant amount of body fat.
    This lecture only confirmed my suspicion that the diet drastically improved my symptoms. Cheers Prof! 😁👍 Also, you kept it interesting, I didn't fall asleep once 😂😂😂 (biochemistry background and I fell asleep in many, many lectures in my youth and that was when I was healthy 😅🤣)

    I discovered Irish Butter called Connaught Gold. It is lovely. I use it to cook with instead of oil.
    Also about cost of living a cheap bar of dark chocolate costs me £2.00 its gone very quickly. Sometimes starting cravings . A neck of lamb in the butchers costs £ 4 and does two meals for me. I dont think processed food with the amount of illness it creates is really that cheap.

      In England, I now use Kerrygold Irish butter from grass fed cattle. It's not just what you eat that matters, but also what (what you eat) eats! It is not unusual for farmed animals to be "fattened" by intensive feeding with carbohydrate-rich grain and seed oil prior to slaughter, but poultry and pigs tend to be raised almost entirely on grain / feed. I don't need fattening up, but if ever I do, I will just eat some carbs, and possibly sugar!

      I am very lazy cook so it's in to the slow cooker with everything into the oven and the gravy after first day is delicious. Plus it's the best way to cook tough cuts of meat.

    The typical tests like seyfried have pointed out will not show or do not relate to t2d. a1c is a good start. For me before and after LCHF omad life altering for the better changes. My fasting glucose was identical. It didn't tell any story. Doc's need to regulary do fasted and glucose charge, insulin levels. And maybe many other tests. We are our own advocates. Hearing alzheimers people at 80% insulin resistance is very telling of the overview of this video. Thanks for sharing
    This youtube channel is probably one of the greatest contributions to the world. Nobel prize needed for these doc's and hosts. Lustig where "sugar the bitter truth" and paul mason talking about fiber and IBS patients kicked me off on my journey. I'm so grateful. I try to help anyone that is willing to listen of the 180 degree notions of the usual things to do. How did we get here and were we need to go. I hear various problems and suggest doing the opposite in a proven/scientific or anecdoetal way. Don't tow the line.
    My stats are 50lbs lost in 4 months. BP 25 points down 115/65. HDL up 20 points (45 top 65). triglicerides down 20 (95 to 75). I feel so much better. I love being thin again. And can eat good fats to reckless abandon. Not quite. But my stomach feels nothing. It's as if it's not there.

I’m not a doctor, but it would make sense that if you reduce the amount of sugar and carbohydrates in your diet, you wouldn’t be experiencing the highs insulin in your bloodstream which could cause fatigue of course I could be wrong.

    The thing low carb is missing, is it's not always necessary.
    The real issue is poor metabolic function.
    Carbs do play a role, but are a secondary player.
    The real issue for most is the impaired metabolic function from excessive consumption of the PUFA Linoleic Acid. Other PUFA also have their effects but LA is the elephant in the room.

    • @rusturuss123
      @rusturuss123 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quite right.

    • @hektor6766
      @hektor6766 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Carbs are the issue. Linoleic Acid is an essential FA (both Alpha-LA Omega 3 and LA Omega 6 are essential), and you get conjugated (the good, non-inflammatory form) Linoleic Acid in milk, cheese, butter, poultry and liver. You don't need it from PUFAs, which are bad because of their (poly-)unsaturated configuration (MUFAs are less bad, but unsaturated is best).

    • @ekondigg6751
      @ekondigg6751 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Carbs do play a role, but are a secondary player." While it seems clear to me that excessive PUFA (all PUFAs) consumption is not a good idea for several reasons, to state that Linoleic acid is the elephant in the room for the moment is only a hypothesis that needs looking into (usual problem of no money in such a study). Eric Westman has mentioned on more than one occasion that he allows patients who are not well off to use any type of fat, whatever they can afford, to stay on his program. They lose weight just as effectively as others who can afford high quality butter from only grass fed cows and don't apparently suffer as a result. So, while I only use tallow, butter and some olive oil, it's to maintain a correct (for humans) balance in types of fat, avoid age related macular degeneration and reduced chance of developing cancer (for which there is a certain amount of evidence). So far, there is no real evidence that LA is more important than carbs. In fact, there is much evidence that carbs are more important than LA. Don't forget that chronic excessive glucose affects metabolic function, which can be a confounder.

      Insulin is anabolic, glucagon is catabolic. During ketosis, your insulin is suppressed, clearing the way for glucagon to draw and fracture the lipids from your adipose tissue to burn it for fuel in place of carbs. It burns more slowly and steadily, so you find 800-1000 Cal/day is sufficient. Appetite is suppressed so fasting is easier if you want to do it, but it's not why ketosis is effective.

      Does this involve lab grown meat?
      It does not take much imagination to realize that carnivores will be at a clear disadvantage and in a world of hurt when it comes to long duration space travel and the colonization of moons, planets, and space stations. For the time being carnivores are nutritionally tethered to terra firma on the 3rd rock from the sun.
      I am curious, but neither for nor against the development of lab grown meat for certain niche applications like long duration space travel as a partial solution to the challenges of meeting the long term human nutritional needs of those who may live, work, and play in outer space?
      In the first instance I am wondering why this new innovative high tech expensive laboratory technology is not being financed, evaluated, and marketed by NASA and the broader international space industry as the logical first movers (i.e., "guinea pigs") to develop and commercialize lab grown meat as a potential regenerative closed loop technology to meet the long term nutritional needs of humans where food resupply from earth is infeasible. I am wondering if the current consumer business model for this technology cannot be cabined, repurposed, and redirected to outer space? I would view it as a great success to see the FDA offload lab grown meat technology to NASA in its entirety for the purposes of further research, development, and commercialization of this technology better suited to meeting the longer term challenges of surviving and thriving in outer space.
      Does any of this fall within your wheelhouse of interest or expertise?

      Rumanant meat that is NOT AGED is the key. FRESH bison, venison, beef elk, lamb etc. Aged beef is done to tenderize it. It is not necessary. Also walking is important along with ample animal fat. Do an elimination diet, only rumanant meat, completely eliminate all veges and fruit. I had horrific ulceritus colitis alternating with constipation. My system righted itself in 3 weeks after YEARS of worsening issues. Now movements are very regular, every day or every other day. Volume vastly reduced because protien and fats are absorbed and dont leave fiber to be dealt with. Virtually all intestinal pain and gas gone. After one year carnivore tried to reintroduce fresh fruit. I enjoyed the fruit but the intestinal bloating, pain, gas, constipation and contorting my schedule around the toilet became unacceptable.

I educated myself via trustworthy youtube channels videos, had my chronic diseases monitored by GP blood tests etc. and after I lost many kgs, I came off all my medications. Wish you good luck on your keto journey to health.

      Detoxification is enhanced through improved bile production with adequate healthy fat intake. Besides that bile binds to toxins, it also stimulates peristalsis, and lubricates the digestive tract (thereby preventing constipation). This results in less exposure of the heart and lungs to toxic substances, which could cause harm.
      Another important function of bile, is to activate pancreatic enzymes; towards ensuring proper digestion of food, and especially to facilitate absorbtion of fat soluble Vitamins ADEK; with both Vit A&D playing an important role in prevention of and healing from asthma and respiratory infections. Healing within the respiratory tract is also enhanced by Omega 3 intake.
      Had found sugar to be highly inflammatory towards for example inducing asthma and mucus build-up in sinuses (including post-nasal drip); this according to my own previous experience, while suffering for decades from allergies (to mainly grass pollen and house dust); with resulting asthmatic symptoms, which were worsened by sugar and various artificial additives&preservatives.
      Important also that Ketones burn clean, with not as much waste products to remove; so that capillaries, interstitial space and lymph vessels in the heart and lungs are not left congested with toxic substances. Thereby a higher level of oxygenation can be achieved... While fasting, one can often feel how sinuses are opening up; thereby inducing spontaneous, deep breathing. For me the #1 parameter to evaluate in what condition my health is, is to what extent airways are open, and if I can breathe properly.

      Not sure where you live, but in Australia fresh vegetables, meat, eggs, butter, olive oil don’t cost a lot compared to takeaway foods. I exclusively eat home cooked meals, avoid processed foods. Where it does cost more is in effort. However you can cook a big pot of healthy keto soup which can feed one person for a few days and cost same as 1-2 takeaway meals. For breakfast a couple of fried or hard boiled eggs with some fresh vegetables and some ham or bacon is cheap, quick and convenient. Salads so cheap to make and refreshing in summer.

    The trick is to do low carb but not with meat. Then you get the benefits of a whole food plant diet without the negative effects of animal protein and saturated fats.

    • @petertownsend252
      @petertownsend252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No absolutely not. There are no negative effects of animal protein and saturated fats. This is a wholly fabricated fact-free statement supported by nothing other than the person making the statement who is regurgitating the standard rote "lipid hypothesis" talking points of the pharma industry (i.e., people who are in the business of promoting statins sales). Plenty of videos supported by science and medicine on this channel and various other carnivore/ketogenic MD doctors here on TH-cam that debunk the lipid hypothesis and explain the positive nutritional and medical effects of animal proteins and saturated fats.
      To the contrary, there are no benefits to a whole food plant diet other than the fabricated claims and rote talking points of the pharma and whole food plant based food industries. Plants contain many non-nutritive proteins that closely mimic animal proteins and are causative of a wide variety of gastrointestinal and autoimmune illnesses in humans. The same for phytosterols in plants that closely mimic cholesterol and are implicated in certain types of cardiovascular disease. These are all part of the natural evolutionary strategy and defense mechanisms of plants to try and not get eaten.

    There's literally zero proof a keto diet is superior to a low fat wholefood plant based diet, unless one measures subject diets prior to the experimental period.
    i.e. if someone was eating standard Australian kr@p diet for years prior, then switched to keto or vegan both of which contain an abundance of colored vegetables, then the fact is in both cases, nutritional intake has improved profoundly.
    Brukner is yet to disprove a low fat WFPB diet has superior longevity and health advantages.

      There is research evidence showing the health benefits of natural fats, so that attempting a "low fat" diet, at odds with the historical evidence of the safety and health benefits of the traditional high fat human diets , is easily understood as very likely a step in the wrong direction. In fact the whole "low fat" diet concept is based upon the mistaken belief that "saturated fats are unhealthy".
      Of course chemical factory produced fake food seed oils need to be excluded from the diet in every circumstance regardless, due to their dangerous health damaging nature.

      99% of people do neither WFPB or Keto. I do believe WFPB diet is far healthier than the typical diet, but almost no one ever sticks to it and it has been widely available and promoted for years. If the promotion of keto or just lo carb can influence some of the 99% to try to clean up their diets, it would greatly improve public health. BTW, there are poor ways to do keto/lo carb, just look at all the processed foods promoted as "keto" on the market shelves. The superior way to do keto/lo carb is whole food based as well.
