The visual and lyrical theme of this are based on the book Animal Farm, hence it is very dark and kinda weird. The flow is the thing that stands out more than anything. So bouncy I feel like Tigger is in my head.
Yeah, I've learned that as I've read the comments, and am surprised I didn't get it first go-around. But this man is always complex in his videos haha. I'll have to give it more listens.
This is choc full of Easter eggs that give it meaning. RENegades will doubtless help you along the way. Movies like Eyes Wide Shut, Clockwork Orange, Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, The Shining, as well as Animal Farm. Without this background you are gonna miss a lot of Ren's meaning.
Haha yall always keep me on the lookout. And what's insane, I swear I caught a COUPLE of them but not them all. That man always think-piecing his videos to death haha. I don't think I needed to catch it to enjoy the video, but it definitely would've added a ton of color I would've appreciated the first time around. I'll have to give it a few playthroughs. :) Appreciate that education!
If you watch Knox Hill's Animal Flow Reaction you will get a Ren approved dissection of this song and what it means in the grand scheme of Ren. There are so many layers to this video and song that are not easy to fathom. Ren did a Twitch reaction to Knox's reaction. I know this is not one of your favs but if you get it, you get it. This is a Secret Garden Party joint. Animal Farm subtext abounds, one of Ren's favorite stories.
Missed this reaction somehow. Had to come back and watch it! New Ren tomorrow, March 14, "Halftime" Nas Retake and new music from Chinchilla on Friday, March 15, don't know the name exactly but it has the word Diamond in the title!! ❤❤❤
This was fun and creative.... and deep. If you want to go deeper you need to read Animal Farm by George Orwell. The 7 points are written on the wall at the beginning of the video. The book is based on Stalin and the Russian Revolution so this is a song, about a book, about a point of history. It's RENception. It also has symbolism from Clockwork Orange, a dystopian video by Stanley Kubrick based on Anthony Burgess's 1962 Novel, again another RENception. What makes it better is it doesn't matter if you know the references because you can still enjoy it as a stand alone piece. I sometimes feel like Ren is playing Chess while the rest of us play checkers.
You know, it's insane I still have yet to read those books, can't even lie. Animal Farm, A Clockwork Orange (saw some of the film), 1Q84, all that. They eluded me for some reason but definitely on my list to read soon enough. I know what they're about, but never took the time. I appreciate the education, and I assume there were things I missed. I kind of took the song at face value and didn't want to think-piece it to death haha but I see I may have done it SLIGHT disservice. I'll give it a couple watches for sure.
Clockwork Orange was a ( banned for a short time) book & a film by Stanley Kubrick, not a video. The film starred 70's filmstar Malcolm McDowell. Its depiction of the future with gangs, wanton premeditated violence & anarchy, set to a classical music soundtrack was seen as hugely disturbing & groundbreaking at the time.
Agreed... considering I was around when it was released and actually remember the controversy. But since we used to rent movies at the video store I'm not sure why that was an issue.
My how the times have changed, it's a shame. But yeah, I'm going to do my culturally and historically catch-up soon on those books/movies. Soon enough, been meaning to.
@@sharis9095Sorry, but I'm a film buff. Movies arent videos. Calling it a video when it's a cult classic is doing it a huge injustice. Fiction wise & movie wise, it's now on school syllabus's & is regarded as being of huge cultural significance. And I was around then too: although I'm not sure what your point is re that.🙂
“Down with the beat” is another fun banger!
He also released a live acoustic version of Animal Flow that’s fire 🔥
Yeah, that acoustic version is amazing!
ON A FREAKING BUS!

@@TheBlackSpeed He had a lot of time to read stuck indoors. Many of his references go over my head.
