I wished you hadn't chopped out the geeks' witty barbs. Those were the best part... so I was glad you kept in the Music Geek's Coolio barb in the final round.
I’m surprised this show didn’t last longer than it did. It was a really cool game show and fun to watch. It’s a bummer that you cut some of the funny banter from the geeks, but it’s still good that you shared this, because this show is never replayed anywhere.
I'm sorry I cut parts, but I had to do it for the data analysis. Otherwise it would have been taken down like the others. TH-cam considered the work "Transformative" because I am editing, critiquing, and such, and not a direct reproduction. I snuck as much of the best stuff in as I could.
Andy Zax, music archivist and person who played the music geek, did an interview on WFMU with Tom Scharpling where they talked about the show. Trivia bit: the first episode was filmed the day after September 11th.
@@Japan_of_Green_Gables a good majority is about his experience on the show. He does talk about his primary job, which is music archival projects and the then recently released Woodstock 40th anniversary box set he had produced.
Took me forever to remember the name of this show. I just remember it was geniuses against contestants, and I could remember what a couple of them looked like. :)
I Loved Beat the Geeks, watched it everyday, love love love Blain Capatch (sp?) & I totally love that episode with Coolio, so funny, silently pitching paper balls at the Music Geek, (he deserved it). Later on the Food Network Coolio was competing in a cooking contest, He made one of his favourite of his Grandma's recipes, & he won!! Delicious. I also enjoy all the fluff, The Geeks are always witty & funny, Thanks, Gord! 💝🎸📺🎥🎶🎶🎶🎶🙋♀😸,Cheers!
A few season 1 episodes I remember. One with the south park geek & movie geek losing in geek to geek showdown. Another included the Michael Jackson geek & music geek in showdown. Another that was on TH-cam at one point, hip hop geek and same geek got blanked in showdown.
Wait, did the TV Geek find my video? You were my favourite out of those guys, followed by the Movie Geek, and then the Music Geek. Just the right level of sass. How would you hold up in today's TV line-up?
I’d like to see more “Beat the Geeks” episode from season 1 with the “Star Trek” geek.
I wished you hadn't chopped out the geeks' witty barbs. Those were the best part... so I was glad you kept in the Music Geek's Coolio barb in the final round.
I can name all 5 of Coolio’s albums at that time.
Well I didn't expect today that Coolio would pass away.
Ack! I came straight here to comment!
Now do Andy Dick or something.
Neither did I, also can name 5 of his albums.

This show was the coolest.
The original episode was taken down. Still no word on when this and the other two episodes on Hosts at Home are coming back.
Ahh, I have this one and one with the Toys geek.
I remember this show from when I was a kid. I remember the special Geek in some episodes, was the South Park Geek, and one called the Star Trek Geek.
Same here.
the toy geek wasted 3 seconds and that's what did him in
Classic flaw of the Toy Geek, always playing games.
Would love more of this show!

Ooh that is some good trivia! Was the interview primarily about this show?

Wow that's a really cool set of facts.
what an ancient show, this one is pulling out the old memories haha.
I’m 35 i watched this show when i should have been doing my homework.
When I was a kid I wished one day I'd grow up to be a geek,
Now I have a film degree & a 5,000 title game collection
Great dream to have. All I've been able to do is save 2.5 billion seconds. Care to make a little trade?
Pretty much how a modern-day game show would run nowadays without that fluff... no thanks to commercial time.

I do have one other episode. It's with the original host. It's also from Hosts at Home but I think it was taken down there too.
You’re doing great and important work here. Really appreciated.
I appreciate that! I would love for this show to be brought back. If I knew some experts it might be fun to do it locally.
Has there ever been another episode where all the geeks lost their medals?
That is a good question. I can only remember them losing them 3 medals.
A few season 1 episodes I remember. One with the south park geek & movie geek losing in geek to geek showdown. Another included the Michael Jackson geek & music geek in showdown. Another that was on TH-cam at one point, hip hop geek and same geek got blanked in showdown.
love to see more beat geeks, also pawnography show is great!
Was so hoping for a different episode that isn’t already on here.
I know what you mean. Finding this stuff is very hard.
Clive Anderson never presented the original BBC version of Whose line, the BBC never made a version of it.
It was originally for BBC Radio but then it went to Channel 4 for the TV adaptation from 1988-1999.
I watched this show when I was a kid, I was 9.
How can we watch Beat the Geeks now a days?
There are no services that show it from what I can find.
Shame on the Music Geek, doesn’t listen to Coolio? Never disrespect Coolio.
I would name all 5 of his albums easily if I was him.
Where did you find the episode to edit it?
It was on Hosts At Home before being taken down.
Oh wow... I think I still have the full copy.
Is that host the voice of plankton from #SpongeBobSquarePants
Yes I believe so!
It’s not. Blaine Capatch didn’t voice Plankton. It was Mr. Lawrence.

@@TheGord sadly, the internet made this show impossible to do now

thank you. i HATE the fluff of these games.
