I made the move about 6 months ago and now game on Linux full time. The games i have issues with tend to have EAC. I Love the change.
Okay only watched the first 30 seconds but I'm still watching the whole video as I too am on Linux and want to learn more but OMG I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH, The TH-camrs that say oh it's easy to switch is just NOT true. They give you a tour of Linux and only a taste of it such as Linux Mint and Ubuntu Linux which is fine I'm not saying showcase all Linux Distro's but at least point some out, don't just choose one and go oh yeah so this'll be the best for you, everyone is different. Also on top of that I've found that most TH-camrs only say the Good and I rarely hear anything about the Bad such as the NVIDIA Drivers breaking here and there. Need to troubleshoot? Oh you'll have to go on countless forums that are most likely outdated :) Installing programs from a Software / Store App rather than what people are used to, opening and installing .msi files or .exe files. So yeah switching to Linux still has a long way to go however I duel-boot both Linux and Windows 11, Windows 11 is for the Anti-Cheat games that I simply can't get around on Linux, it's just too difficult / impossible and not worth the risk whatsoever. However I can safely say I've never had to boot up Windows 11 ever since it's installation. It's not been touched after install other than debloating and installing the necessary apps / games / game launchers :)
Ive set up my discord for people to add linux tips and tricks in a forum way so if you wanna learn more head there
@@Mattscreative I joined the server thank you so very much :)
I have gta 5 from epic games, and heroic games launcher didn't quite make it work, but I managed to make it work with bottles! Bottles is great in my opinion, its easy to set up and it basically does the job for you.
heroic was fine for gta 5 i just gave it a shot
All my games are on steam now so I don’t have to worry
Thats good
Thank you so much, now i just need overwolf or native add on developers to support linux in my blizzard games and then i am good to ditch windows forever! This guide helped me a lot getting blizzard to work perfect :D
Did you even try overwolf ? Maybe it works
@@Mattscreative I honest did not think off trying, i should do that and see what happens
Hi! I want to switch to Linux for some gaming, but I just can’t decide which distro to use. I began using Linux in 2007 and left it around 2014, mainly used Ubuntu in the end. But now I see that gaming have improved a lot since then and I want to come back. I just don’t know which to choose between Mint, Ubuntu, Nobara or Fedora. I see you are using Nobara and Fedora. What’s you suggestions?
Cachyos
What are you using for Ubisoft connect? You never mentioned the name right off the bat, but I imagine it is Lutris. Thanks! Also what do you use to overclock or undervolt in Linux? Is there anything similar to Afterburner? I am on AMD so I use core ctrl, but I am asking for a friend whose got an Nvidia GPU.
Lutris
@@Mattscreative Thanks a lot, man. I just erased Windows for good a few days ago. I have been dual booting for 4 years now and I believe I am now ready to ditch windows. Your channel is a blessing. I am on Nobara 40 and have been on it since 36. I love it and I am very happy to know I may never need Windows again. Now, If I could get my wife to switch to Linux it would be great, specially now that NVIDIA is working better on Linux. She is still using a GTX 1070, so I don't know if all the improvements would apply to non RTX cards...but thanks for your response!
Hey, I know this is asked a lot on Reddit and co but would you personally recommend Linux for gaming only? Only single player games ofc.
And if, what Linux distro?
Or is Windows still way superior? I think I read somewhere that nVidia GPUs still don't support Framegen on Linux?
Cachyos it does everything be it single player or even some multiplayer and mmos i even do video editing and more
@@MattscreativeThank you for ur answer, didn't hear about it till now. Will definitely look into it!
Linux is still complex for a person who never used pc and bought a new one just to browse and game , in windows they can read the instructions and do everything in a click , but here so many commands, even i was having hard time doing sometimes, if i ask my sis she say scram to linux she don't even know complete use of windows yet so for common people linux won't work. Its a good os but its hard to use.
any OS requires reading and undertsanding and clicking ... linux is no different: you boot the iso and install linux then install steam and enable game compat and done
For windows : you boot the iso you install windows you install steam and you play games and done
1 extra step doesn't kill a person and funny distro's like nobara and pikeos and cachyos comes with 1 click button that is more simple then windows.
I remember back in 2013 I really enjoyed Far Cry 3, and I tried playing it again recently. I got bored really fast 😂, not really sure why I enjoyed it so much🤷
as people we follow and when someone says something is good we think that until that thought dies off and now that you are older you are more free and follow less .. Farcry 3 was always boring but we heard good things so we listened and did as we where told
@@Mattscreative True
like that
Apex legends didnt work well on steam without shader precaching.
If i ran the directx 12 versions it was fine but i had performance hit
Using shader precaching and waiting 30 min for to compile resulted in the best experience.
i am on bazzite, i have nivida 1650ti card with amd ryzen 7 4800h.
What version of the EA app are you using in Lutris? I am not having much success with it. It gets to the point of asking for a login then doing nothing.
the newest at the time and it still works
@@Mattscreative I can install and run the EA app fine, but almost every game I download will produce an error somewhere at the end of the download/installation. Did you actually install a couple of games, ie dragon age or sth like that and it worked?
You might want to update the part where you use protonup-qt, now that protonplus is out and is better
No point really both are being updated and both are easy to use
Def want that ea login recorded lol
(I wish to play sims and don't want to be banned. Ik lame game but I like giving them chainsaws lol)
you won't be banned
What about games from ISOs???
right click the iso and mount it then right click and open terminal and do wine and run the setup.exe or whatever it uses
@@Mattscreative lmao best guide indeed xd
hello im new to linux and linux gaming but what linux are you using?
Fedora 40 but if you are new try cachyos or nobara
@@Mattscreative what about endeavouros
@@LZenxi Cachyos and Nobara are already pre-configured for gaming performance.
Endeavour and Cachy are both Arch based, and Nobara is based on Fedora.
There's nothing wrong with using Endeavour instead, just know that it likely won't be fully optimized (for gaming) until you find out which settings you need to change and to what. Since it is Arch based, I would assume you could use the Arch wiki, where I know for sure they have a very detailed guide to optimize Arch for gaming, it's possible Endeavour has their own guide as well.
@@johnh3642 can i use linux mint
@@johnh3642 what about linux mint
which Linux it is?
Fedora 40
Basically, I find it outrageous that Linux users are locked out of many games (for example Destiny 2).
That's actually discriminatory just because you don't have Windows and have now switched to Linux.
Why should you use Windows if they now want to spy on users with Windows 11?
That may be possible in the USA, but here in Germany or Europe the laws are different, and you just can't be spied on. But to lock out Linux users as a result is a great impertinence. I use Steam and have no problems, not even with Linux.
