As a South African that does research in both countries, I can tell you that the domestic payments systems in Nigeria under NIBSS are always ahead of the curve in innovation and functionality. Nigerian schools seem to export great mathematics and IT skills to almost every African country. The legal framework in South Africa is more highly developed than most developed countries and the South African financial services skills are very broad and very deep. The major issue I see with Nigeria is their economy is 88% dependent on oil and only 12% diversified, which means that as soon as the oil price tanks, most of the economy gets flushed. South Africa's economy has all kinds self-inflicted calamities and remains hardly affected.

Without oil there is an 88% hole in the base economy and all other secondary industries fail. Rinse repeat. To those who say the entertainment sector in Nigeria is superior to that in South Africa: Burna boy is the only thing that comes to mind when Nigerians think of the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry encompasses a variety of activities outside of music, such as radio, television, games, comedy, theater, movies, live performances, literature, sports, etc.
The South African entertainment industry is undeniably more professionalized; we produce various types of music from across the world, including classical, opera, jazz, choral, rock, and so on; not just Amapiano. What are Nigerians good at other than Afrobeats and Mr Ibu?
South Africa produces top-notch TV programs. Any sport, including hockey, athletics, swimming, cricket, football, and rugby, is open to you in SA. Has Nigeria ever won a world cup trophy of anything? Stop comparing Nigerians to South Africans; they're playing catchup in all industries.

South Africa has done a lot for Africa and Nigeria. South African infrastructure enabled them to bring MTV, BET, WWE, The World Cups, Big Brother, DSTV gave Africa a broadcasting footprint. Developed Nigeria's media infrastructure. Train Nigerians in media and film through peograms we bankroll. Build infrastructure in Nigeria so that we could do business there. DSTV gave Nigeria a platform to broadcast their channels. And we demonstate Africa's potential with a high quality. How can your entertainment industry be better when we do so much for yours? What do Nigeria's entertainment industries contribute except for content. We gave you all the international shows you enjoy. Our TV show's have a higher production quality. We spend more money on our entertainment than you guys do. More international artist come here to perform. We even support your artists and performers. Train your movie crews. Build your T.V studios and bankroll them the content. Nigeria isn't wven doing 1 tenth of what South Africa does for Nigeria.

These are two countries which are difficult to compare.
    # Nigerian economy is controlled by native Nigerians. South African economy is controlled by the minority whites
    # The Nigerian GDP may be high but the population is also too high, globally Nigeria is like china, while South Africa is like United States. South Africa has a far smaller population yet it has a healthy GDP, which unfortunately is only benefiting a few whites and well connected black politicians.
    # i aldo want to highlight something which i think is important. There is absolutely nothing wrong with migration as long as if its organized. If it wasn't for migration US economy wouldn't be where it is today. Africans must Go out there and look for opportunities for the benefit of their counties. UK is powerful today with a GDP of over 2trillion, because of multinational companies that were established by British migrants. Black south Africans will learn that in the not so distant furure.
There is also nothing wrong with comparing countries. Its a way of benchmarking your progress as a nation. I read most comments by South Africans and now i can understand why they are accused of being lazy and xenobic.

@@lozi4163 Are you serious? DRC can't compete with Nigeria on that ground. Nigeria actually has those resources that are almost as abundant as DRC but they are not exploited. Nigeria used to be second largest producer of tin in the world. We have one of the world largest bitumen deposit, topaz, gas, etc. We used to be one of the world largest producer of palm oil, rubber and at one point world-largest producer of groundnut, etc but people don't know that. It is because oil has taken over everything that most other sectors are neglected. We produce more of those than DRC.
However, I don't believe in natural resources to be the potential of any country to become a giant. To become a giant you must first develop the human resources and Nigeria has more potential than DRC in that area. We might even be beating SA in absolute term in that area as well.

@@youme1414 which human resource you talking about? Do you know what human resources means? More Brian's are active in SA as they lead in education in Africa and have the largest middle class, that is human resources. Like what the fck human resource in Nigeria???🤣🤣🤣 Dude you are just saying anything, you have 220million people with no real middle class, world bank list Nigeria as leading poverty capital with more than 130million people living below poverty line. You also have about 25million kids not having access to education, you have the leading open defecation in the world because of lack of sanitation yet you talking about human resource. Nigeria education system is sh*t, you not an industrial nation meaning you are a consumer based economy, you have 63% literacy rate and you have the nerve to be talking about human resource. maybe it's because South Africa isn't looking at African standards anymore, that's why your friends complain about things u wouldn't.
It's really sad because for a long time when I thought of Nigeria I thought of Burna Boy, the rich fathers that we always see in Nollywood movies, just the rich people ooo. and yes Naija entertainment is definitely more recognised ...buh I honestly think SA entertainment is underrated, we have some amazing talent out here☺Honestly

I know alot of people see our movies and think 2 extreme ends , either you think we're very rich or very poor. 😂😂😂

Another I like about us South Africans is that we are very accommodating to people of other countries. That’s the reason we have people from all the countries of the world in South Africa. Although we are often called xenophobic, those who are honest still see South Africa as the place to be . I do agree that Nigerian movies are far better than ours. But as for the rest of the entertainment industry, we are ahead of all the other countries. This is my view .
