Great video... I am currently undertaking a study requiring obtaining the lane group capacity of a signalized intersection. Could you please advise me on how to go about doing this?
Capacity of a lane group is the maximum number of vehicle that can pass the intersection using this lane group. Theoretically the lane group is Number of lanes x SaturationFlowRate x LaneGroupEffectiveGreenTime / CycleLength, if the lane group has opposing vehicle and should wait for gap, there are some adjustment factors in HCM. If you want to measure it in VISSIM, my suggestion is create a volume generator before intersection. Set it to a high value (e.g. 2000 vehicle/hour/lane). Add a "Data Collection Point" right after the signal heads in the connectors of those lane groups. In evaluation set it to show/export the data collection point data. Count the number of vehicle passed. You will have capacity of the lane group
You can add a "data collection point". They go to evaluation and It will provide you the time stamp of each vehicles and vehicle types (e.g car, truck, bus, bike) that passes that point. Then you can go to Evaluation menu and Evaluation Configurations. Select "Data Collection (raw data)" from "Direct Output" tab. They would be able to calculate PCE/PCU based on collected vehicle data.

Hi Victor. Yes you can. You have two options, 1- Add a separate link parallel to you links for the BRT and add a vehicle generator at the top for busses. Or even you can define the bus stops using Public transit route and stops 2- If you have an existing link that you want to have one lane dedicated to BRT, then you need to go to the link properties and in the lane section, one of the column is BlokecedVehClasses. Block every vehicle there except the bus.

I did a lot of 3D work with Google SketchUp and I had same issue as you. In my experience (in Vissim 9), First, you need to save your file in SketchUp 2015 or earlier versions. Second, I was not able to directly import it. I used the VISSIM V3DM software to import the SketchUp file into their 3D model and then export it to the their 3D format. V3DM is located in your installation folder. e.g. C:\Program Files\PTV Vision\PTV Vissim 9\V3DM

Hi! First check if you can load Bing map in your browser. Second, there is a program in VISSIM installation folder, "VDiagGUI.exe". Use this to reset the GUI. If this does not solve your problem uninstall and install it again. Contact PTV, they will guid you.

Hi Manzoor, They do not have any other free version that can do larger networks. At our university, we have the university version which they provided us with much better pricing for our department and we as students use them to learn and test.

In a free student version, you will not be allowed to use Bing maps :). Only a licence version has this facility
instead, import background image from google earth and further scale it accordingly.
