It still makes more financial sense than renting. I've been full-time since college (3 years), and my trailer cost just shy of $40k. A single bedroom apartment at $1200 a month is almost $44k. So not only have I spent a little less, but i own my home and go wherever i please when I please. Now you have maintenance and things always go wrong, just like a house. But as long as you stay on top of your maintenance and don't ignore problems, then it really isn't that expensive and you have a mobile house for the next 15 - 20 years at least. Currently working a corporate job remotely, but they drain your soul from you at 80 -100 hours a week. Not worth 75k a year imo. Very soon, I'm gonna quit and just do maintenance work for other RVers. The market is there, and I have the experience. And I'd much rather work for myself making 40-50k a year working 20 hours a week than being a bootlicker for a corporation that will replace me in a heartbeat. Its all about what you want out of life. Staring at a computer screen 6 days a week is not what I want out of life.
Just to clarify 1200 a month x 12 months x 3 years is what he is saying. At first I had thought he was comparing the two at one year vs a purchase of the motor home. But it does in my opinion make more sense financially. I own a home. It’s $887 a month mortgage, $275 a month taxes (summer + winter tax bill divided by 12) plus around $71 for consumers and $78 for DTE. Then water is about $40 a month. Then some other costs like insurance is $88 a month so it comes out to roughly $1450 a month. That is a lot of money for a single guy like me. No kids no wife. Still costs a lot. If you can get a motor home for less than $1000 a month all in, then you’re winning. Of course house will appreciate in value and a motor home will depreciate. But the motive is to reduce expenses and continue to buy assets. A house that is owner occupied isn’t an asset because it is not putting money in your bank.

It varies drastically depending on how much you travel, where you stay, type of RV, etc. Lots of great websites and information available to estimate your expected expenses depending on how you like to travel.
@@fuelyourwandercan you suggest some of these places for info? Newbie elder. Not used to all this digital everything! But do need to find the extra income to travel. Question: So whenever your RV breaks down, or needs to go to the shop for maintenance, where do you guys stay while your coach is being repaired? This process could take days or a week to complete.
I'm thinking about selling my place to go travel in a motorhome. Lots of things to consider, especially when I already live on a lake. The lake is always drying up and it's just lonely out here sometimes though. I'm just leery of hidden costs right now.
Have kinda considered sellong my house and buying land. And a big newer RV to live in fulltime, with my son. On the land I would also buy. But am trying to look into the pros and cons of selling my house to do that? My brother said "you will have to do repairs on it here and there." But, forogot that over 18yrs being in my home. I have done a good amount of repairs for it too, haha! Property tax on the land would be cheaper. Cause the "house" would be on wheels. Instead of being a foundation set in on the land. So that would be a bonus for sure. I also have a lot of solar power products I bought the last three years from Bluetti. And it should for the most part totally power all things needing power. And, as much as things will need power.
I'm really trying to talk my husband into to doing this. The idea of spending the next 20 years of our lives trapped in an office and to a mortgage is not my dream life. He thinks it's not feasible or realistic to go on the road. I don't know how to change his perspective. Love your videos!
That’s exactly how we felt! If you’re seriously interested, highly recommend renting an RV for a week and testing it out first. It’s challenging at times, but so worth it!
Bottom line it for us... Depreciation, fuel, RV space, maintenance food, and restaurants and hotels, when needed... Im thinking $100,000 per year. Not many people can afford that.
Biggest RV is still way smaller than the smallest house. Selling an appreciating asset for a depreciating assets. Come 10 or 15 years you will completely regret that decision. Also RVs are poorly made, many have problems after 5 or 10 years. Best mix is to down scale your house and take long RV trips. Always good to have a place to call home.
You're right you either choose to make money and take a few trips somewhere abroad per year, feeling like a trapped person working endlessly like a slave for the system, or go out there see life, explore meet people learn about cultures, try new food. Life is short you never know if you will make it to see tomorrow ❤

I'm thinking about selling my place to go travel in a motorhome. Lots of things to consider, especially when I already live on a lake. The lake is always drying up and it's just lonely out here sometimes though. I'm just leery of hidden costs right now.
People that worry about investments aren’t understanding the fact of being able to reap the rewards from money with bad health. Live life now. 🎉
I just found this rv that uses a Mercedes truck chasis made by a company called dembell. It is very luxurious and it has a garage that can fit a car
Beautiful life ❤❤❤❤Enjoy 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good for you guys enjoy 💞💞💞
Thanks ❤️
So happy for you. I'm jealous...
It's an investment in experiences! So well said
Ooooh it seems has it is definitely worth it.
If I didn’t have 4 kids I would have done this but I love my babies wouldn’t trade this life for them ❤
Living life what a great investment.
💯❤️
Sounds like a plan and you have given it some thought!
@@fuelyourwander thank you! Yes, trying to weigh my options on everything before making a definitive decision.
😍I want to do this with my 3 daughters
Only one Life to Live! 👏
Go to a big RV show and look at many different RVs. imagine yourself living in them. Where you would fit your things. Try a rental first.
Wait, do you ship your Class A RV to all 4 Hawaiian Islands?
You guys love Oregon I see 😊
We love the PNW! 😀
Just sold my house and bought a new truck and 5th wheel RV...
Me, my wife and daughter are so looking forward to the transition.
I don’t even take a vacation let alone a few 😂
Bottom line it for us... Depreciation, fuel, RV space, maintenance food, and restaurants and hotels, when needed... Im thinking $100,000 per year. Not many people can afford that.
Biggest RV is still way smaller than the smallest house. Selling an appreciating asset for a depreciating assets. Come 10 or 15 years you will completely regret that decision. Also RVs are poorly made, many have problems after 5 or 10 years. Best mix is to down scale your house and take long RV trips. Always good to have a place to call home.
Representing the PNW!!! Welcome and please come back to stay all summer!❤
We love the PNW!! Thank you
What is PNW?
You're right you either choose to make money and take a few trips somewhere abroad per year, feeling like a trapped person working endlessly like a slave for the system, or go out there see life, explore meet people learn about cultures, try new food. Life is short you never know if you will make it to see tomorrow ❤
I love it ❤
I’m really happy for you guys! I’d love to do what you are doing, but I would need a Driver
im about to do the same…head first 🙏👍🏻
Congrats! 👍
