Marty, I have no idea about your past as a musician but your demeanor and laid back attitude is so inviting for all skill levels of players. I hope your channel blows up my TH-cam friend. God Bless.
Thanks for this lesson! I know some people dis on this song but Ive always liked it and the solo is great. I appreciate your humble, approachable manner and obvious love of guitar and sharing your knowledge.
An iconic 80's 'power ballad'. People write this song off, but when people are relaxed, in a good mood, with a few drinks... they always sing along. And one of those iconic solo's as well. Great choice.
Just picking through the 3 scale shapes at the end of this video on my acoustic guitar sounds great! I’m gonna keep picking this to get it in the brain! Great lesson!
I don’t care what anyone says CC Deville played some pretty cool and different from everyone else leads back in the day his “be bop” pentatonic licks fits Poison’s poppy songs great. You know it’s CC when you hear it and for me that’s the ultimate goal is to sound like yourself, and as Marty Points out his bends and vibrato it’s like he purposely bent a quarter cent sharp but he made it work. As with any other player steal what you like but don’t be one of those CC sucks unless you got a song on the radio that people know it’s you when you hit the first note.
Brother, I love how you approach showing others how to play things, and there's absolutely no ego. I have met so many players that are pure ego, it's so fun and enjoyable watching your content!
Well thanks man! That's awesome for you to say. It really is a lot of fun sharing guitar lessons and content with everyone. I try to just be myself, it's just easier to be true to yourself than fake. Guitar isn't a contest. It's supposed to be fun! 🤟🏻🍺
Hey Marty. You have great guitar tones that emulate the original! Brilliant insights for us intermediate and semi-pro guitar players. This really does sound like the original! If I could reproduce your tones every gig I would be ecstatic! Thank you for your insights.
Great lesson, Marty! It always helps me to see a fresh take on songs I play, keeps me from stagnating or plateauing. Rock On, Guitar Friends!!! 🤟🍻🍺🥃🎸👽🧑🌾
You're welcome! I appreciate it, they're random selections but I try to cast a wide net of what people will get the most out of and enjoy. And also that have cool guitar parts.
My old drummer thought that because he could play this song, he was a guitar player! I wanted to beat him with his guitar every time he strummed it! 😂Thanks Marty 🤘 😊
The OG Wonderwall but honestly I’m surprised a drummer would be able to get that G To C chording trick down , It was probably close to a year of playing (self taught) that I figured out that c to g move in every rose and if you can play that your drummer probably doesn’t even know he could also play I Remember You as well lol and if he’s impressing chicks with Poison let him bust a Skid Row ballad out on em 😝
I hear ya man. I dread learning songs from the 80's because the bands were all over the place. I have to tune to them all the time. That's one reason my primary is a Les Paul now. No locking nut. Those 80's bands were all over the place. e flat. Standard. Drop d. 1/4 step down. Also the tape machines fluctuated.
Oh yeah non locking trem makes it so much easier to tune and detune Like my Ibanez electric when I want to play some rolling Stones and it's so easy to go from standard tuning or drop d tuning right down into open G tuning.
Rock it man! This is a crowd pleaser. A lot of bands bemoan this tune but it's a solid one live, and if you can pull it off "right" it's even better. 😎🎸
Marty, where did you learn music theory? Were you a music major or are you self taught? What’s the best way for someone about a year into guitar to learn music theory?
I have a degree in fine arts and music theory from Binghamton University in New York. There's a lot of ways to learn theory. It's not necessary to know theory as long as you have a good ear and understand the fundamentals of voice leading and harmony. Theory makes it a little more understandable and unlocks the code to some things, but take EVH as an example. He didn't know theory (technically) but he knew it from just playing and through years of practice. Perhaps look into Rick Beato's course and get a face to face teacher that can teach it one on one as well as guitar. 🎸
Do yourself a favor and learn the G Major to Cadd9 move in this song in my opinion it’s the first Open C shape new players should learn especially if they want to play rock because if you can play a Gmajor you can play Cadd9 and use it anywhere you’d use the traditional C cowboy shape for the most part anyway
now do i'll remember you it has to be done! a tip for those who hate tuning down to Eb my friend used to use a piece of cloth a guitar strap whatever you can slip under the Tremolo to lift it up a tiny bit there you go down to Eb or you could not be a lazy butthead and tune down your twanger! lol JK
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker yeah the solo sounds difficult but it's pretty easy you have the classic 1 5 6 4 chord progression i think ppl would be surprised when they realize that solos can sound hard but it'snot that difficult to learn but you still have to practice dudes and dudettes LOL
I do but I'd much rather like to see people comment on all Caps. Just kidding, check out my stuff, I have over 500 videos on my channel hopefully something will strike your fancy. If not, thankfully there are millions of other channels that probably do.

That means so much to me, I really appreciate it. Thank you kindly. 🎸😃🍺
Well said.

You're welcome! I agree, such a great solo. It's a bit tricky and needs to be accurate if you play it live! Fun to play also. 🤟🏻🎸
Enjoy your videos. CC was one of my favorite gutarists from the 80s when not high. I watced the more currently and hes redeemed himself.
Initially I came to learn this song but I just enjoyed you playing this song. It's been a rough week and made me smile.
Thanks for watching. Hope the days ahead are better!!

I appreciate you doing these!

Thanks Marty, that is great lesson. I enjoy your lessons, you’ve grown to be one of my favorites on the tube for lessons and great vibes!
C.C. has always been underrated, there is video of guy that produced first album saying C.C. was the talent at first and came in with those hit songs.
Great lesson of a classic
Brilliant, thanks for this Marty

Thanks!

Great lesson, Marty! Look at you with the deep dive into scales, I just learned a lot!
Love that guitar 🎸 too, sounds insane 🤘
Awesome man! Glad to help with the scales and stuff. It really pays off in the end and is so universal. 😃🎸
Great Lesson
CC was the most musically able of the group; he brought the others up a level.
I agree! He was a studied musician, and brought the others to his level for sure.
My old drummer thought that because he could play this song, he was a guitar player! I wanted to beat him with his guitar every time he strummed it! 😂Thanks Marty 🤘 😊
lol! The Brett Michaels syndrome. Done also play Home Sweet Home when near a piano? That's usually the next phase! 😂😂😂😂

I just got the blueburst relic series the other day and I love it. Great lesson Marty
Going to have to learn this one and play it for my wife, Rose :)
I think it's a perfect 80s rock ballad.
I definitely prefer when you tune it like the record

Very cool man. You did a great job teaching this song.
Thanks! Very glad to help! 🎸😎
Good stuff thanks
Sweet man, I’ve been playing a lot of acoustic recently trying to make some extra cash. Got a new song to play out there 🤟🏻
Rock it man! This is a crowd pleaser. A lot of bands bemoan this tune but it's a solid one live, and if you can pull it off "right" it's even better. 😎🎸
Great lesson as always, Marty.
I just keep a couple of guitars down in e flat for this sort of thing
Thanks ~ me too! I have some in e flat. Some standard. And one DADGAD 👽🎸
Nailed it
Thanks bro!

Something from Rush…In the End, YYZ, or Overture 🤩
Marty, love all your videos. What gear you using to get your tone to match CC?
They can't be ripping off eddie if his name is the brand. lol Great video though, thumb'd up!
You gotta be a freaking guitar genius to get a 25 minute tutorial out of this song!
lol!!!! The solos man! And the theory lesson at the end - relative major and minor stuff
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker well you are a freaking guitar genius! 🎸!
Don't settle for tuning to standard just because people are too lazy to tune to half step. Gotta have that proper 80s tone! 🤘
now do i'll remember you
