DHAKA, BANGLADESH - Welcome to Dhaka, and today we’re going on an ultimate Bangladeshi street food tour of Old Dhaka (known locally as Puran Dhaka). Old Dhaka is known for its amazingly congested streets, energy, being the center of fabric trade, and also for its amazing history of food - especially meats. Along with @PetukCouple and friends we are eating at the legendary street food spots!
Haji Biriyani (goo.gl/maps/LRYRPSkWsSjoUeQV9) - First up we took a cycle rickshaw directly to Haji Biriyani, since 1939, and probably the most famous biryani in all of Old Dhaka. Their biryani is unlike any other biryani I’ve had, fluffy like a could, fragrant from mustard oil and green chilies, and meaty. So good, it’s a place you have to eat when you’re in Dhaka.
Beauty Lacchi and Faluda (goo.gl/maps/xrNdQqpu9FoB7ieg7) - Next up, another legendary place for lacchi, similar to a lassi, and faluda. Their lacchi is sweet and sour, like an icy refreshing yogurt drink.
Old Dhaka Breakfast snacks - Next up on this ultimate street food tour we had some local pastries which are popular for breakfast, right out of the tandoor.
Hanif Biryani (goo.gl/maps/NJfzW3rpUpvQjPRL9) - Another legendary place for biryani in Old Dhaka is Hanif Biryani. It’s not as fluffy as Haji Biriyani, but has a nice fragrance of rose water.
Bismillah Kabab Ghar (goo.gl/maps/EEbLMBV6ArQ7FFga6) - Another highlight of any Bengali street food tour in Old Dhaka is Bismillah Kabab Ghar where they specialize in all sorts of fried kebabs - they are not grilled kebabs as I would typically think, but more like stir fried kebabs full of spices, onions, and green chilies. Their kidney fry and chicken chop were outstanding.
Mama Kabab House - Next up we went for grilled kebabs, an assortment of fire grilled chicken and mutton grilled until crispy.
Grilled Fish - Everyone said it was a first for them to eat something other than meat in Old Dhaka, but the bbq fish was very tasty especially with all the chutneys.
Fresh Juice - You’ll find an abundance of juice stalls in Old Dhaka, and one of the favorites in cashew milk - more like a milkshake of blended cashews.
Fire Paan - Finally to complete this ultimate and extreme Bangladeshi street food tour in Old Dhaka we had fire pan!

Due to my work, I have traveled different parts of the Indian subcontinent and tried biryanies from Peshwar to Delhi, from Hyderabad to Dhaka but for me, Dhaka has the best biryani ever. They use some kind of secret Masala and aromatic rice which is unique. Nobody and nobody can beat Dhaka biryani. Especially Dhaka kacchi is my all time favorite.

I know every biryani is special and unique but If it looks like that we would call it Pulao in Karachi. Our biryani is supposed to be really spicy and colourful.
Yes… it is very unique esp. with bengal pulao rice called Kalazira.
I agree, Kacchi Biryani (video coming) is one of the greatest types of biryani I've ever tried, so incredibly good, almost can't believe the spices and flavors.

I am a Bangladeshi who loves Iranian food, my favourites are abgoosht, mirza gasemi, kale pache, jujeh kaba, shirin polo, and baghali polo ba mohicheh, and for dessert akbar mashti and sohan. I often make jujeh kabab. You should try Chicken reshmi kabab, both Bangladesh and India make this. It's made with chicken breast cut into cubes, marinated with thick yogurt, lime juice, cubeb powder(Kababa in Persian), nutmeg powder (very small pinch), cardamom powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, white pepper powder, cilantro paste, mint paste, green chili paste (upto heat level you can eat) and salt. All the spices in moderation, as it is not very overpowering in flavour.

I pay attention to the streets, struggling to find a piece of trash, besides for being frugal these folk are very clean. Noticed this too in other videos of Bangladesh, despite their limited economics these folk make an effort to keep clean. Bravo Bangladesh!!!!

Yes , it's because there are a lot of shops and restaurants , and it's in our culture to clean the area in front of your shop in the morning before starting business and old Dhaka folks are the most respectful of that culture.
Because of being muslim most of the people pray 5 times a day, that is why they have to be clean all the time.

Unfortunately, Bangladeshi cuisine is one of the most underrated food in the world. Here in the US, almost all Bangladeshi restaurants hide their true identity and sell their food as Indian cuisine. Bangladeshi food is so underrated in my opinion, I feel it doesn’t get the exposure it deserves so it’s beautiful to see Mark trying out the authentic cuisine & street food and show casing it to the world so that people who have never come across Bangladeshi cuisine will at least get to know about it.

If you can’t find a place in Thailand or if you can’t visit Bangladesh the. I’d recommend following a recipe on TH-cam and trying it. The spices in Thailand are really good so you’ll be able to get them. 😊

But those restaurant will say you that they are serving original bangladeshi cuisine .. but if you try in Bangladesh it will be differentes than karachi bengali cuisine .. they are making peoples fool bro .. not original sorry to say ..i hv seen some video but but there cuisin look differentes .

Bangladesh food has so much varieties. Meat, fish, veggies, different Biryanis, different beef dishes, etc veggie dishes are eaten too in households and villages. Old dhaka you’ll find mostly meat dishes grilled stuffs.
I’m impressed by how diverse marks taste buds are. He can eat anything from any country and it wouldn’t feel unusual to him
