Chazzzisawesome I feel you on not letting your mom do your hair. my mom would legit brush my hair with a boar brissel brush. NOT MY EDGES. MY HAIR. Since I stop letting her do my hair my hair has gotten so much longer.
My mom has nerve not to understand why she isn't allowed to touch my daughter's hair. Lol. She attempted the other day and told me my 6 year old kept saying "momma gonna be mad" and "that's not how momma does it" the entire time.
When I was relaxed I hated my hair, and it seemed like it wouldn't grow. Now that I'm natural and I love my hair it grows like a weed. The number one thing that any hair type needs is love. Gorgeous hair you have.
The mom thing is so reallll omg, and i cant tell her what to do, she thinks she knows everything even though I tried to show her how it was done. She mostly combs my hair dry and doesn't do finger detangling, I can feel the comb snag through my 4C hair( I'm a tender head lmaoooo) and I see little poof balls falling down beside my head. And I'm there almost squealing , in an awe , like MOM NOOOO. Good thing I will detangle my hair thoroughly before I ask her to comb it😭 thank god my hair is still thick and full, yet so delicate and sensitive.
I remember my mom trying to detangle my hair when I was a kid before she relaxed it. She would comb it dry from root to tip. When she was done there would be a enough hair in the comb to make a wig and my scalp would hurt like hell for the rest of the day.
u right about the mothers...my mom braided my natural hair when I first went natural and as she pulling she says to me I'm gonna make u go back to perming your hair....i just knew she pulling doing it on purpose long story short I never let her in my head again. Now she says calls it beautiful and big lol
I AM the mama erbody is talkin about 😂 my poor baby..thats why im here i gotta get it together so her suffering can stop! ive learned so much watching ur videos! we gon knock this out tomorrow! ❤️
Chazzzisawesome I did it!!! i followed all ur directions down to products, brushes and no rubber bands...my daughter didnt cry at all! thank You and Jesus!!
I trained my mum on natural hair stuff, I bought her all the right tools and I'm teaching her how to look after her hair too ☺️ Only problem is, none of us can braid :/
I am so glad that I was blessed with a mom who was not a hairdresser but knew how to do 4C hair. She would wash, rinse, condition, and grease my scalp and plat my hair up to air dry (twistout before it was popular) My hair was literally down my back. She'd occasionally straighten my hair with a straightening comb and I Survived. Bring back the old ways and it doesn't take using all them damn products 😍❤
The mom comment is soo real 😂😂😂😂 but I did teach her because I need her to braid my updos lol And I honestly talk to my hair!! Lol. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that.. I literally have interventions with my hair. 😂😩😩😂
Bruh I swear to God I'm with you on the mom part.. She always thought she knew what she was doing when it came to my hair. She would use thin spaced combs to handle my hair so roughly and COMB FROM THE ROOTS. And it would make me so sad cause I would feel on my hair and see all broken off curls on my hands😢 And at times when she flat ironed my hair she would run over a part of hair 10 thousand times to make it bone straight like mom you have to understand my hair isn't relaxed anymore so it's not going to get super-bone straight like it used to. I would cry cause I was scared she damaged my hair. I remember one day she called my hair nappy and said I had to comb out the "naps" like bih its not called naps ITS CURLS SOMETHING YOUR BALDHEADED SELF DOES'NT HAVE. I couldn't talk back to her and tell her what to do cause she would always think I'm being smart like bih you making my hair fall out. And since she couldn't handle my hair type she'd always threatened to put a relaxer in my head. So I started learning to do and braid my own hair from now own. Thinking back on them times just makes me mad but I'm glad I'm doing my own hair from now on.
+Yanni Woods why is our moms ALL combing from the roots! I thought it was just mine, I DONT GET IT! 😹😹😹 and yes I'm the only one who touches my hair in my family 😹😹😹
Those puffs with the flowers....so cute and summer-y!! ❤️❤️❤️ BTW, In the past, I've broken off hair by rushing through detangling and styling. Now I remind myself to slow down and give myself time to work on my hair. After all, it takes only a few minutes of rushing and frustration to break off several months of growth.
Your hair grows like 40 inches between every video 😂😂😂❤❤❤ And my mom has permed hair too and recently I asked her to help me with my natural hair for church.. She combed my nape for a few seconds and just stopped 😂😂😂😂😂
+AnonSail 😹😹😹😹 the reason it looks like it grows so much is because I leave it alone. Y'all never really see how stretched out it can get because I'm always wearing a protective style on camera. Then on top of that y'all don't see me everyday to see me hair growth. Your mom is so awesome for stopping you are so lucky 😹😹😹
I admit I lack confidence in my hair I was raised "white" with my mother being mixed herself she didn't have "natural hair issues" (and she too gave me a relaxer after popping my scalp off my skull 😒) no one taught me to care for my hair so now I'm on TH-cam teaching myself cause I'm tired of dryness and breakages so thanks for this video it helped a lot ❤️ stay beautiful
Truth, Chazz! Like you, I love my hair and other people tell me all the time that they love my hair, but it's because I put time and effort into it. When I take care of her, it shows. When I don't, it shows. Gotta put in the work to get the fruit!
I think it's also a timeline of progression in hair history. When natural hair started kicking off people thought that not having a perm = 70s fro. Then popular youtubers started popping up with amazing styles and techniques and people were like oh that's nice!!! I want my hair to look like that! Unfortunately the majority of early naturalistas didn't have 4c hair. So when they don't see their thick, tight coils cascading down their back in loose ringlets or glossy like the morning dew they go....wait, what happened? Then reality sets in and they realize they they don't have the same hair, that they'll never have the same hair, and secretly cursing themselves for having the "bad type" But it's real people like you who give the honest truth about what it means to have this hair and what comes with it, the good and the bad.
+LoveAndSnapple THIS COMMENT REALLY HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!! Essentially this is the problem I'm always trying to break down in my videos. I went through the same thing, where I thought going natural and learning the new "techniques" on TH-cam would get me hair like the TH-camr. It took me a while to figure out that the 2 didnt correlate. Which is why I'm always preaching you can't get what you don't got. THOSE youtubers with the loose curls never really explained that if you don't have my hair type it's not going to look like mine. They always preached do what I do and your hair will come out the same. That's why I respect naptural85 because she was the FIRST lady I had seen with MY hair.
Instead of rubber bands buy some silk pantyhose and cut it into several bands and head bands. It's silk so it doesn't pull hair out. And I'm a country girl so I even get a stocking cap out of it 😉.
The best part of this video is tip #10....Giiiirrrllll!!!! PREACH!!!! We have to de-program ourselves from that mentality that our hair is nappy and not beautiful. We have gorgeous hair no matter the type!!!! Love your hair ladies!!! Thank You for actually saying it!!!!
Definitely regretting not loving my hair before. Am in high school with 4C hair and it's gotten to the point where I can put my whole hand over the breakage on the middle of my head. My hair was always a lot of work so I got tired of it and got lazy. Big no no! I look a mess!! Do your hair people!
Chazzz! I LOVE this video. And I can attest to number 10!! I'm from South Africa and most women have 4c hair so its nothing anyone looks down on. But, I have always had thin and kind of sad hair that when it was relaxed, my head literally look like a shiny black cat. at the same time I never really looked after it... However when I went natural 3 years ago I decided to love my hair which translated into really taking care of it. Now I get a lot of compliments from women telling me how healthy and full it looks and how they wish theirs was the same. Yet it is still thin and very 4c, I just love and take care of it. Thank you for this! :)
I don't ever comment on videos, but girl, you AUTOMATICALLY hit home when you mentioned self acceptance and having confidence in your hair. Like ACTUALLY having confidence, not feeling like you're trying to fit into a trend. Once you truly, honestly, wholeheartedly believe that your hair is beautiful, it WILL become beautiful, it will be beautiful, to you, to others and all of a sudden it won't be as much of a struggle. (I won't say that it won't be a struggle because its hard every now and then but it is entirely manageable) I'm just speaking as a fellow 4c sista...
GIRL!!!! THAT SHAMPOO BRUSH IS THE BEST THING EVERRRRR! I had one for forever now and didn't even know I could detangle with it. detangling my transitioning hair was sooooo freaking easy.. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
thats what happened to us natural curly hair people when our mothers didnt know as much info on natural hair and back then they would perm it cause its easier but still do your hair and pull and tug and comb n rip hair out it was horror smh
I’m so glad my mom didn’t give me a perm. I used to ask her when I was little because I wanted straight her but she refused. I’m proud of her. Really saved me there.
Love love love this video. But the one that touched my heart was the last tip. I went natural in 2014 and I was in the 10th grade. I hated my hair. To the point I was praying to God to make me something 3c/4a. I have a 4b/4c texture and I never gave it the TLC it deserved; just slammed on braids after braids. My hair never saw light till I finally got real with myself that this was some real self-hatred. The fact I didn't want to show off my hair for what it was. I now proudly wear my hair with pride in its length and thickness. I'm blessed to have it!
I think this was the realest and most relatable video on this topic. and the sad thing is, it takes experience to appreciate and understand the points raised in this video. so unfortunately, a few more naturals are gonna experience this and then reflect and say ' ohhh this is what Chazz was talking about'
Love this video. you are so right. when I dont love my hair, she will not act right at all, but baby when I do, she's so beautiful! Thank you for your tips! Keep up the great work.
I feel like we need an education movement for moms with natural haired daughters. I too suffered a lot of breakage and was eventually given a relaxer. I'm glad we daughters are finding better ways (and can pass them on), but it would be cool to crank out some resources for all the frustrated parents still breaking their kids' hair.
Lol I can totally relate to #2. I didn't go to my mom to braid my hair because she doesn't know how to braid so I went to my cousin instead. I tried to tell my cousin what to do to my hair to make it easier for her but she didn't take any of my advice and ripped my hair apart. She only did my natural hair twice and never again.
You are cute indeed. I'm going to admit it, I'm usually very sceptical watching these kind of videos but you are so on point. And this is coming from someone (an big woman from London lol) who is fully on top of her own hair. You are bright and refreshing. Keep on doing what you are doing young lady.
I'm just now learning how to properly take care of my natural hair, so I'm learning to love it. I would hate my hair because it was always so dry and brittle, but now that I'm trying to actually take care of it, I love it so much.
I noticed that when I switched shampoos and started deep conditioning once a week, my hair grew quite a bit. I also stopped using my flat iron every single day and recently bought some heat protector to blow dry my hair. For a long time I would just let it air dry. I also stopped wearing individual braids
How long have you been making those mistakes? My hair is kinda flourishing now but I feel like it would flourish more if my mom didn't rip through my hair like that, she combed my hair 4 times since I removed my braids. And snapped some strands, I'm just glad I figured out my hair in like a year , and I have a regimen that seems to work out really well. People say 4C is so freaking hard, I'm 14 and I'm not saying they're lying but I made it easy for my self. 💖 I love my 4C hair !
JadedGems i found out about hair grease (Dax, Blue magic) . i went back to it. also, having a simple routine. you dont need to be broke because of all the natural hair rules , make your own rules and see whats best for you. sorry for the late reply , i dont have notifications
My mother severely broke my daughter’s hair. I put her in some Marley Twists & some things to heal her scalp & repair/grow her hair in recently. I know what works for my hair & what doesn’t do it’s working so far in my little girl’s. So is keeping my mother off her damn head. 🤦🏽♀️
Isn't there a Type 4D? At any rate, I am mostly 4A and lately my hair is breaking some but my own mother and others throw shade at the fact I won't use a pressing comb anymore. Two reasons: I am greying and that hair is slightly coarser and I just want to rock my natural hair. So, I have been down on my hair. Now I see the correlation: I am going to speak kindly about my hair now. Thanks for that, because I didn't even make that connection.
+The Adrenalized Artist There might be a 4D. I haven't heard about it but everyone's hair is different so I definitely know there are more kinkier textures. 💖💖💖
Omgawd !!! I went through the same thing , I went to my mom cause I didn't know how to braid!! Hahaha I thought it was just me..that happen once. Neva again. Now I just double strand twist ..that I know how to do .😄also I was one that low key didn't like my hair ..until a few weeks ago ..long story I accidentally wore my hair out and feel in love..I'm embracing now letting it be..thank you for saying that last tip! Love it
Tyra Lynette did you find yours online, or locally to you??? I've been (trying to remember to) keeping an eye out for them when I'm in hair stores and haven't happened upon one, and I NEED one badly!!! 😭
My hair is in 4 very loose twist when I'm in the house. I wear it out when I leave the house. I realized, after 9 years, that my hair hates oil and a ton of products. I only use a shampoo, leave in detangler and a cream. I also realized it hates being restricted and loves to be free. I've been going against my hair wishes and it was breaking and thinning. After doing the 5th and final big chop I decided to listen to my hair and its going great.
I have rollercoaster moods about my hair. Currently, I hate it... 👌🏾 close to cutting it all off! Even though I wear my natural hair every day, I do everything the natural hair influencers tell me, my hair still breaks easily, looks dry and brittle (although moisturized) and does not hold a style! 🤦🏽♀️
all your points are good but point number eight was on point lol. i watched a video yesterday and the youtuber was talking about cayenne pepper pills, derma roller and biotin to help with hair growth. i was wondering to myself do we really have to do so much just for some hair growth. if we are going to use all of these things how will we know what works for us. it makes no sense to me.
My mother been natural for years however you couldn't tell her hair didn't grow she never never took care of it . I use to watch her break her hair off on the daily. She didn't do my hair because my hair was relax and was old enough to do my own hair. Great review thank you.
Cute hair. I'm fortunate that my mother knew something about dealing with type 4 hair. She'd plait or twist so loosely that sometimes it would unravel. It was she who taught me about shampoo stripping the hair so only use a little bit. Big sis on the other hand is best avoided. The rare time I let her do my hair my eyebrows were up because she pulled my hair so tight. I was in so much pain. It doesn't matter than she can do all those nifty cornrow styles. I'm not going to be hurt or lose hair for that.
Chazzzisawesome. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 but I learned the hard way because I'm low-key lazy too but the last time I put box braids in my hair it actually grew because I moisturize and it keep my braids nicer longer and smelling fresh as well
#10 hit me so hard. I hid behind braids since 7th grade (just finished first year of college) and I've had my hair out since late February and it's June now, this is the longest it's been out in 6 years! I feel like it would be so amazing if I had nurtured it for those years, but I didn't bother with it. So now, I have a weird love/hate relationship with it. I love how shiny and thick it looks when I take care of it (and love seeing fellow 4b/4c with beautiful hair) but I start to dislike it when I can't do much with it because of the length. I just trimmed a lot off yesterday because I noticed how unhealthy the ends were, so hopefully that'll help me get some length and retain it! thank you for this video :)
I usually keep my hair in twists. Not mini, i don't have te patience or time for mini. It keeps my hair from getting super tangled. i love having it out, but twists work better for me. They're just time consuming. I try to keep my oils and what nots near me so I'll keep in mind that I should moisturize my hair. Oh man I agree rubberbands are the devil. I only use them for bantu knots. x.x I need to find a replacement for those things. You always have the cutest hair accessories. I love what you had for this video. Where did you find them? Now that my hair is gaining more length I should try some other hair accessories other than twist rings (loc jewelery) Have a great week :)
+Selah Giovanni see y'all are really trying to ruin my next video 😹😹😹. I had such a good video that I filmed on where I got these and me styling my hair. I don't want to ruin it but my laptop just went out and I don't know what I'm going to do so if I can't get it running, I will just come back and tell you.
I have a love/dislike relationship with my hair. When I first went natural, of course I went through the short stage, but I was taking care of it religiously. I mean wearing puffs, going through the nightly regimen, etc. However, recently I have gotten into doing crochet braids...I have started working, gotten busy, and lost sight on the strength and the beauty of my hair. For example, I was throwing my crochet braids in back to back. I have noticed it breaking, and actually changing curl pattern on me due to constantly being in braids. I am going to go back to what I used to do because I miss my healthy "I am natural and proud" hair. However, I just dislike the length of my hair. My hair is naturally thin and being short on top of it discourages me at times. Although I do have length, I add in crochet weaves in order to give me the natural big feel that I like. My hair is definitely feeling a little rejected. I definitely agree with all of tips you have said.
my mom be putting heavy grease and rubber bands and combing my hair till it hurts. she would be like your hair is dry and I would touch my hair and just fill grease 😂
OMG I can totally relate with you on the mom being the only one to braid your hair! 😂😂😂 Me and my mom be getting into arguments during the whole process. One day she got fed up and told me to get up.
You speaking facts. I relate or related to everything you said but my number one problem is I'm lazy. I'm currently cutting little by little because it's damaged mainly from my puff and split ends.
yes you shouldddddd look I can give u ur first que: *clears throat* Are you married? How old r u? what started ur natural hair journey... should i proceed loll...
Omg when you can relate! My mom washes my hair for me (I'm 14) , and I want to do it myself. She uses her nails to clean my scalp and I've been telling her you are suppose to use your fingers not nails !!! I also tell her to use natural shampoo's and conditioners on me bc I want my hair to be long and strong , and they have to both be the same brand. But she never listens !!!
That part with the mom though. I felt that one in my soul. My mom has a perm herself so when I went to her for help after struggling through natural hair I was in tears as I felt that *small tooth comb* rip through my scalp. I tried saying that she wasn't doing some things right I was rewarded with, "I know what I'm doing".
I don't do protective style because my hair hates it. I can keep braids/cornrows for like two days before my hair starts acting up. My hair likes it better in low manipulation hairstyles.
Tamara Okyere shampoo is necessary to cleanse your hair, just like you cleanse your body with soap and follow up with lotion. You cleanse your hair and follow up with a bomb conditioner. Use a moisturizing shampoo if you find clarifying shampoo too strong. When you don't properly cleanse your hair products will not work as well as they're intended because you still have residue left on it. Natural hair God on TH-cam just made a video about natural hair and shampoo and goes into detail. Hope that helps.
Tamara Okyere you dont have to shampoo but nit doesn't damage your hair if you use it everyday 2-3 days, but if your really concerned use ACV to wash your hair.
to put ny hair in ponytail i put it in a puff all the time and i just use a satin headband and i only wrap it once so its loose but it still looks good
Gurl!!!!! The craziest &*#%ish I ever heard of was using coochie cream in your hair to make it grow. I was completely through with all the advice and started focusing on what works for my hair. Love you chazz!
Swtsade J only things I put in my hair is shampoo, conditioner, oils and braid spray when I'm wearing individuals Bc the Africans will grip your thoughts lol...
I actually love my type 4 hair-the navy just won't let me be great with my natural hair while it's in that awkward length stage! I just took a break from crochets to dabble in my hair for the first time, and just doing a faux bun was am experience within itself. Slightly frustrating but exciting at the same time. I even did a scarf with a braid out bang this weekend🙌🙌. Here's to learning about my natural hair at 32 😂😂. Btw you are hilarious
This video made my life lol! I am 9 years in and I've experienced so much I could write a few books. With that being said I have come to respect my hair more and learn what's good ( and very bad!) for my hair. I'm still learning. I still don't know my hair " type". It's sad lol. Thanks for giving me a few laughs and speaking nothing but truth! My aunt was the braider for me lol
Girrrrrrrl that mom thing is real. I sat there and heard rip after rip. 😢
+Shan Parke ugh the struggle! 😹😹😹
Chazzzisawesome I feel you on not letting your mom do your hair. my mom would legit brush my hair with a boar brissel brush. NOT MY EDGES. MY HAIR. Since I stop letting her do my hair my hair has gotten so much longer.
not only that, they would be ripping and saying "don't worry that hair is supposed to come out" like wth.
StillFiguringThingsOut LMFAAAOOO yesss my mom would be like "that's the shed hair coming out" 😭
It was my grandma for me :(
My mom be breaking my hair off like crazy and when I say sumthing she go "boyy! I know what I'm doing" 🙄
+ballislife2351 Yes!!!
ballislife2351 yass!!
ballislife2351 omg yes
ballislife2351 I swear she the reason why my hair ain't growing it's the combing but I can't cornrow and I need my protective styles 🙂
marigold910 you better learn or go bald
My mom has nerve not to understand why she isn't allowed to touch my daughter's hair. Lol. She attempted the other day and told me my 6 year old kept saying "momma gonna be mad" and "that's not how momma does it" the entire time.
+pri_shay_dior 😹😹😹😹 OMG THAT IS to CUTE!!!
pri_shay_dior lmao your little girl knows it's serious af 😂 babies are so funny when they say stuff like that
That's sooooo funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When she said she noticed she received less breakage when she was not touching her hair. I took my hand out of my hair so fast 😂
+Raye Channel 😹😹😹😹 you got me dying 😆

😂😂 Love my mama but i won't even let her comb my hair now. She'd be grabbing from the ROOT 😂😭
+Essence Mone' YESSSS 😹😹😹 same here my mom doesn't even start at the ends!

Essence Mone' ( Right
I am my hairs biatch lol, she says jump I say how high...literally soo demanding but hey at least she look good (4c realness)
+miniimufin 😹😹😹 exactly how I am!
When I was relaxed I hated my hair, and it seemed like it wouldn't grow. Now that I'm natural and I love my hair it grows like a weed. The number one thing that any hair type needs is love. Gorgeous hair you have.
+Renee Brown yes exactly what I'm saying! Y'all are really reading my mind with this video I love it! 😹😹😹
Renee Brown 👍🏽
Renee Brown same here . I been natural for a year my hair is growing like crazy
i felt the same
Your so right! My hair was awful with perms now that I am natural its thicker and healthier plus growing
+Vasty A. OMG yes! My mom does the same thing 😰
I am so glad i do my own hair now. Hang in there, it gets better!!!
"see the little poof balls falling down beside my head" 😭😭😭 I'm crying. I know that struggle.
Vasty A. That shit hurt huh I fixed my Own shit at times folks just broke my hair apart
Bobby Brown true
finally someone said it. my mother literally pulled out my temple hairs after a blow drying session...after two years they just filled in lol
+Rakiya Hamilton UGH! Love her but she can't do my hair 😹😹😹
Chazzzisawesome yeah all love just nt with my hair.
I remember my mom trying to detangle my hair when I was a kid before she relaxed it. She would comb it dry from root to tip. When she was done there would be a enough hair in the comb to make a wig and my scalp would hurt like hell for the rest of the day.
+ILoveStemi (Aria) like almost everybody's mama in the comments (including mine) does that, like what is going on 😹😹😹
ILoveStemi (Aria) this was my mother, she said allll of that hair in the comb was normal and I believed it 😂
Ain't that the damn truth😆
i swear my mom did thattttt
I let my aunt do my hair recently and she tore out so much of it and had the audacity to call it 'shed hair'. Like no fam, that's called breakage!
+Chrisy 😹😹😹 I'm sorry this has me rolling !
"She saw it as a challenge " 💀💀💀
+ANTOINETTE ELEAN 😹😹😹
😂😂
😂😂😂
Don’t forget the “ of course that’s disrespectful “
u right about the mothers...my mom braided my natural hair when I first went natural and as she pulling she says to me I'm gonna make u go back to perming your hair....i just knew she pulling doing it on purpose long story short I never let her in my head again. Now she says calls it beautiful and big lol
+latoya Wesson oh no...that's just cold blooded 😖
latoya Wesson my mom gave me a perm :( what do I do now?
XxxPrincess CookiesxxX transition or big chop immediately
latoya Wesson Girl I feel you. She pulls so hard right now I have bumps from the strain.
Lmao most mothers. My mom actually knew what she was doing.
I was blessed to have a mom that is also natural, so she knows how to do my hair perfectly.
+La Love 😹😹😹😹 aawww!!!

I trained my mum on natural hair stuff, I bought her all the right tools and I'm teaching her how to look after her hair too ☺️
Only problem is, none of us can braid :/
+Rachel Holden 😹😹😹😹
Rachel Holden awh man 😭😂😂😂😂
Lol same!! I got to my a good braiding shop.
The mom comment is soo real 😂😂😂😂 but I did teach her because I need her to braid my updos lol
And I honestly talk to my hair!! Lol. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that.. I literally have interventions with my hair. 😂😩😩😂

You are so cute I don't even know what to do with myself
+Shae Taylor OMG YA GOT ME FEELING ALL SPARKLY INSIDE!! Thank you 😋
Just the cutest!!!!!! Cute cute cute!
Yes! So cute and I love her eyes!😍
Yanni Woods THIS IS EXACTLY ME!!! Omgee! I swear this is the very last time she rips through my hair! I swear .
+simply d Yes! Exactly what I'm saying!!!
My mom used to do my hair when I was little. Long story short, I got alopecia. Today I don't let NOBODY touch my hair but ME.
+Stephanie Kabi DAAAANNNNGGGG 😱
Omg why would you use rubber bands in your hair😂😂😂🤦🏾♀️😩
+Tamara Okyere I call them rubber bands but I forgot to call them what other people do, pony tail holders.
Tamara Okyere ( I use them all the time and now that she said that imma stop
I AM GLAD I COULD HELP! Im sorry you didn't get the encouragement and support that you needed but this channel is all about the kinkies!
Truth, Chazz! Like you, I love my hair and other people tell me all the time that they love my hair, but it's because I put time and effort into it. When I take care of her, it shows. When I don't, it shows. Gotta put in the work to get the fruit!
I need those flower hair ties 😍😍
+Deanna Gillisslee 😹😹😹😹 literally filmed a video on it today!
+Sparkle LaBelle OH I LOVE THAT IDEA!!!
I do this now. Yesss
Sparkle i think I’ll try this
Amen. And ribbon. I find a thinner ribbon hides well if you have decent length. Secure with 1-2 Bobby pins
i dont call my hair nappy.
its just extreemly curly.
+S. Minor I actually love the word nappy it just sucks that OTHER people put a bad connotation to it.
K
+Lilly Million see that's the trick!!!! 😹😹😹love ya hair!
number 10 is my favourite. "your hair can smell fear..." It's so true! your hair will try to reflect how you feel about it
+Duduzile Job YESSS 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
YES GIRL YES! This is exactly what I am talking about, it is definitely worth the struggle!
omg that hair style!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
+Visionaress 😹😹😹 THANK YOU!
Am a boy and I take all of this girls advice for my hair journey.. best advice I came across must say
GIRL!!!! THAT SHAMPOO BRUSH IS THE BEST THING EVERRRRR! I had one for forever now and didn't even know I could detangle with it. detangling my transitioning hair was sooooo freaking easy.. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
+Cordelia Taylor 😹😹😹 see the best thing ever!
thats what happened to us natural curly hair people when our mothers didnt know as much info on natural hair and back then they would perm it cause its easier but still do your hair and pull and tug and comb n rip hair out it was horror smh
+Tarra Bartee SMH 😹😹😹
"your hair is going to reflect your mood" I need to show my hair love which I DO NOT. I just learned a golden nugget of wisdom. GRASSHOPPER!
+Khalidah Kamal 😹😹😹 you have me rollin!
I think this was the realest and most relatable video on this topic. and the sad thing is, it takes experience to appreciate and understand the points raised in this video. so unfortunately, a few more naturals are gonna experience this and then reflect and say ' ohhh this is what Chazz was talking about'
+kimberly wilks 😹😹😹😹 that's like the most awesome compliment I have ever received!
Love this video. you are so right. when I dont love my hair, she will not act right at all, but baby when I do, she's so beautiful! Thank you for your tips! Keep up the great work.
+Lisa Howard YAAAASSSS!
+Serena Tsukino 😹😹😹
Girl. Get yourself a doll. Thats how i learned how to braid. I played with dolls when i was a child.
You are cute indeed. I'm going to admit it, I'm usually very sceptical watching these kind of videos but you are so on point. And this is coming from someone (an big woman from London lol) who is fully on top of her own hair. You are bright and refreshing. Keep on doing what you are doing young lady.
+Hair Valley AWW THANK YOU IM GLAD YOU STOPPED BY!
I'm just now learning how to properly take care of my natural hair, so I'm learning to love it. I would hate my hair because it was always so dry and brittle, but now that I'm trying to actually take care of it, I love it so much.
+Kay S YAY! Ya fro is gorgeous no matter what! Treat her as such and she will keep you SLAYED.
Type 4A, B, & C realness 💖💖
Never gone catch me throwing shade at my luscious locks 😎
+The Chips YES GIRL LOVE EM!
girl, you are spot on about your mom breaking your hair off. That was most definitely my mother!
+Imani Severin 😹😹😹
you are my hair crush...I so love looking at your hair😄😄😄😄
+invisible tree Aww thank you!
I noticed that when I switched shampoos and started deep conditioning once a week, my hair grew quite a bit. I also stopped using my flat iron every single day and recently bought some heat protector to blow dry my hair. For a long time I would just let it air dry. I also stopped wearing individual braids
+tkf15 😹😹😹 wow I don't even straighten my hair but I'm glad your hair is growing! Your hair is strong!
+Vasty A. For about the first 3 years of my journey and then I big chopped again. Now I don't do any of those things (well a majority) anymore. 😹😹😹
Vasty A. Howd you make it easy?
Love it
Today, I finally found the shampoo brush that you were talking about. I'm so excited because wide tooth Combs aren't always my friend.
+Tyra Lynette YESSS!!! I hope ya love it!
Tyra Lynette did you find yours online, or locally to you??? I've been (trying to remember to) keeping an eye out for them when I'm in hair stores and haven't happened upon one, and I NEED one badly!!! 😭
Ainjel Renee I found it locally. But if I come across one online, I'll definitely share the link with you
Awesome! Thank you!! Bc I am having regular fights w wide tooth combs and finger detangling!! 😔
Ainjel Renee hi! try going on Amazon! That's where I got mine & it was about $3 or $4.
After doing the 5th and final big chop I decided to listen to my hair and its going great.
omg yes the rat comb my mom be using the together comb teeth, and she don't comb from ends to roots ahhh,I just do my own hair.
+anna holness your mom is just like mine 😹😹😹
Chazzzisawesome 😂😂😂 I agree.
For high puffs use acrylic yarn, or Marley hair. I used the elastic bands and they constantly break my hair, which is why my edges are suffering.
+naturalbaby mhmmmnn I will have to try that!
girls YESSSS. I really think we have the same mom😭😭.
All facts!👌
+Original Slim 😹😹😹
*can u do a video on how to moisturize correctly before doing a protective style?*
+Carlie Cairo YES I SURE CAN!!
+waisam sergeant see it's not that serious 😹😹😹
waisam sergeant coming from experience I will say biotin works but the rest is some mess 🙄
+K Rob 😹😹😹 big sis must not play when it comes to braiding, DANG 😹😹😹
as for protective styles don't forget to continue to moisturize your hair with a mix of water and essential oils spritz

Chazzzisawesome. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 but I learned the hard way because I'm low-key lazy too but the last time I put box braids in my hair it actually grew because I moisturize and it keep my braids nicer longer and smelling fresh as well
Hey Chazzie I was still awaiting your final thought on the Terrassentials products ❤ pretty please make a video on final thoughts and everything 🎇
+Eyah Chili ok I will. However I used it all through out high school and I have always loved it.
Chazzzisawesome Thanks alot ❤
+Thando Mtshali How long is your hair?
before I cut it, it was a little past my collar bone, now it sits on my collar bone
Awwh i'm sorry D: I hope you can get it running
Saved my life with the shower brush idea!!!! Used to be terrified of the look of it alone 👍👍👍👍
I love your hairstyle ❤
+I am Peach AWWW THANK YOU!
I like how u don’t smack ur lips when u talk like every other TH-camr. Great person
I moisturized my hair after this
I have a love/dislike relationship with my hair.
+generic person 😹😹😹 AWW man that was a good one I forgot about the grease 😹😹😹
Im new Natural 4b, 4c. This video help me avoid breakage in the future. That last point is true. I learn to love my hair. Now everyone love it.
+Nanna Love awww I'm so glad I could help!
Lmao combing with a rat tail comb . Girl that happened to me too lol
+Melanie pizarro 😹😹😹 moms be on something else 😹😹😹
OMG I can totally relate with you on the mom being the only one to braid your hair! 😂😂😂 Me and my mom be getting into arguments during the whole process. One day she got fed up and told me to get up.
My hair and scalp hates protective styles😞😕😖😩
+CocoaMarie it be like that sometimes 😹😹😹
How did u know ?
You just have do the right proctetive styles and in the right way for your hair and scalp
You speaking facts. I relate or related to everything you said but my number one problem is I'm lazy. I'm currently cutting little by little because it's damaged mainly from my puff and split ends.
Besides the fact that I love your videos every time I see you I think of Toya Wright. You guys look so much alike!
+Tiffany Alcindor 😹😹
Chazzzisawesome Yes girl! lol You're going to remember me the first time you hear that. Twinsies lol
This hairstyle is so cute!
Do you have a "get to know you video or a "20" questions about Chazz? Cuz I'm here like wait... she's married/engaged? How old is she? loll
+Kalifa Charles 😹😹😹😹 I feel like I should make one but idk
yes you shouldddddd look I can give u ur first que: *clears throat* Are you married? How old r u? what started ur natural hair journey... should i proceed loll...
you actually answered the last que in this video. lol
I'm interested too. I'd love to know her better
❤️ those rubber bands are the devil 😈
+Forever Glamorous 😹😹😹
That part with the mom though. I felt that one in my soul. My mom has a perm herself so when I went to her for help after struggling through natural hair I was in tears as I felt that *small tooth comb* rip through my scalp. I tried saying that she wasn't doing some things right I was rewarded with, "I know what I'm doing".
My mom be bugging on my hair and than blames it on me after only knowing how to do permed hair, she not touching my hair ever again!
STAND UP FA YA SELF!!! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 don’t get slapped by ya moms though 😹 (I know the struggle so I believe in you 😊)
I don't do protective style because my hair hates it. I can keep braids/cornrows for like two days before my hair starts acting up. My hair likes it better in low manipulation hairstyles.
+heyshaay see keep that going and don't let no one tell you different. Only listen to your fro she can tell you way better than anyone else can.
My mum told me shampoo is not good for my hair and I should stop using it? Any tips
+Tamara Okyere try it out on your hair and see. I use shampoo from time to time but not always.
WestIndies Taylor shampoo isn’t necessary. You can co-wash
to put ny hair in ponytail i put it in a puff all the time and i just use a satin headband and i only wrap it once so its loose but it still looks good
Gurl!!!!! The craziest &*#%ish I ever heard of was using coochie cream in your hair to make it grow. I was completely through with all the advice and started focusing on what works for my hair. Love you chazz!
+Swtsade J what *jaw hit the floor* you have got to be joking 😱
Chazzzisawesome Yup! no joke. They were telling ppl to buy it from the dollar store, lol
Swtsade J I heard that too, smh
nesha mo ikr?
+Amber Smith AWWW THANK YOU!
I took down my braids 2 weeks ago and my hair broke at the front....i don't even know why
Tamara Okyere maybe didn't moisturize enough? Try a protein treatment before you get your hair braided :)
And deep condition before getting braids !
+Tamara Okyere what kind of braids did you get?
Chazzzisawesome single plaits
Were they too tight?
This video made my life lol! I am 9 years in and I've experienced so much I could write a few books. With that being said I have come to respect my hair more and learn what's good ( and very bad!) for my hair. I'm still learning. I still don't know my hair " type". It's sad lol. Thanks for giving me a few laughs and speaking nothing but truth! My aunt was the braider for me lol
+reshonda parker 😹😹😹 NO PROBLEM!
#10 is good. She went on and preached..
+gdjwarren2 😹😹😹
Loved your perspective on rule #10 ❤ love your hair, and your hair will love you back
May I ask where your flower hair bands are from?
+Aneesa H. Literally putting a video out about it tomorrow 😹😹😹
Chazzzisawesome awesome!
