I couldn't help but notice where you re-chamfered the lower strut bolt where you beat it flat hammering it out. That's a crucial bit of information. If that happens to someone attempting this, they'll never be able to get the nut started
Great video! Question though, Is there a trick getting the 3 upper bolts in? Once you get the strut in the lower controll arm I don't see any way of twisting the strut to get them lined up with the bolt holes.
This was done more professional than others on the Tube. But this car was some rusty. Has been on rusty road. I've got a 04 Ford Crown vic her in Norway. Has been on salty roads in winters. I had now used Fluid Film on this old car. It was really time for this. It has only 80k miles on it. I dont know if its time for replaceing the struts/shocks now. The strut has some surface rust. Its twenty years, so there can be som leaks. Greetings from Norway.
great instructible. the bottom shock bolt was fiddly to get back in, otherwise, just time. about 4 hours for me, a somewhat suspension experienced shade tree mechanic. 77 years old.
Exactly what I needed to see. Going to be installing rear shocks and front struts on my 2003 Grand Marquis. The torque specs are greatly appreciated. Subbed! :)
Thanks that helps a lot to see how to do it on my 2008 grand and what it takes if i take it in to get the job done so the place doesn't screw with me. I help others this way i can see what to look for on there vehicles.
Wow! Now I know why struts for my town car, were also sold with upper control arms, stabilizer links, ball joints & extra strength Tylenol

I like how the upper control arm was magically replaced
118 ft lb for the caliper bolts? Are you sure? The Haynes manual says a lot less

Would it be the same for a crown Victoria police interceptor 2011?

Does this apply too 1998-2004 ford crown Vic?

I want to lift my 07 a little in the front, what can I do?
How do I know the correct ride height?
Where did the new upper a arms come from all the sudden. Please dont skip ahead.
Will I need to get an alignment after this repair?
+London Watson Yes, an alignment will need to be done after this repair.
so it should take me 30 mins to do both??
Great Job !
Look like not easy for normal people.
Car has a lot of rust. Should be using rust dissolver on the frame and upper/lower control arm, then coat it
Why not just completely take of upper ball joint instead of losening the 2 bolts it’s only those to bolts holding it on there
Great instruction video but only one click using the torque wrench. Double check clicking will cause over torque.
