Nice bike there.. I have one too. One of the best things I ever did to mine was upgrade the bars to some Renthal Carbon Fatbars. Highly rec' that change, bike is less chattery and quieted down. And XT brakes ! And an extra volume spacer in the fork to make it more progressive, run lower air. Enjoy that Trek !!
Great Video again! I demoed the 2019 fuel ex8 so many times that they applied $500 of it toward purchasing EX5 3 weeks ago. my first real modern bike. (since 2001 I had a basic Rock Hopper) So far I've just gone tubeless in the front, Continental Trail King tire. and just basic fitment and I absolutely love it!! I like to pump up the suspension a little bit more to make it feel stiffer, jumpable and supportive in the. idbut I lost all small bump compliance. I Don't care for now. I am a huge tinkerer I build custom liquid cooled PCs, anodized everything so buying the EX 8 for me wasn't a good idea. The EX 8 was near perfect out of the box leaving not much to want for ride wise. I personally want a noticeable difference every time I drop 500-1000 on a new part/ system however ;) plus I am a huge poser / aesthetic weenie and plan to make it all green / blue / purple have my eyes on DVO suspension. With the EX 8 I couldn't justify upgrading too much. I have the 29er again because I want both wheelset will buy a 27.5 30mm nice daily driver set for plus tires
Thanks, the EX 5 must be great compared to the 2001 hopper! I haven't messed around with my suspension, I am too scared to mess them up. If I had to pay for the wheel I would want a positive difference, but it was under warranty so feeling the same is great.
I having big doubts between going with the top fuel 8 and the fuel ex 8, different riding styles but in the trails I ride sacrificing climb with the EX might be a mistake. But also it looks so damn good and fun and easy in the downhills.
I just had a look at the top fuel and there doesn't seem to be a massive difference in the travel, so going up hill would not be a big difference between them ( I think). If you are full in to XC id say top fuel, but if you want to try more down hill trails definitely the EX
I set my mino link in the hi position... helped climbing and still fine at the speed of my trails. And I changed the air shaft in the 120 to a 130 to get a little of the fork angle back so the shift to hi position is a little less of a change. And I gained BB height for pedals ! It's working great for me like this.
Great bike I edited making a Long term bike review yesterday for my channel before I post it I’m just making sure you know that I am not copying you awesome video
Great video I just subscribed, looking for a full suspension bike, found a trek fuel ex 8, but it’s 2010, the owner is honest and made upgrades and says it’s in great condition... any tips for a noob like me b4 shooting my self in the foot if it’s a bad buy or not? It’s around $1000 cad
Just did a review of the same bike I believe. I just got mine last week. Got it for a steal at 30% off. I subscribed and will look to your vids as resources for my bike. Any trouble with the dropper post? Mine is super slow and sticks really bad. I’ve take. It apart and greased it and made sure the seat clamp isn’t too tight but still having issues.
Once you progress and learn more about the sport you will enjoy the fancy reviews more. This one was quite superficial and I would definitely not make the purchase based on this alone.
Does this video sound better?
Jake’s Biking its good but if I were to say anything I think you should make the background music a tad louder. But great vid!
Thanks for letting me know! I'll make sure to get the music dialled.
@@JakesBiking Your welcome
yeah was gonna say the mic is ten times better then before sounds way more professional
Actually it is the same set up as before, I had to get my own recording booth area set up better.

I 100% agree with what you said. Breaks and bars are defiantly on my upgrade list 🤘🏻🍻

Yo!! Can I ask where you were riding there at the very end of this video? Looked like a blast!
It’s the Kamloops Bike Ranch in BC

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought anything about copying. When I see comments saying I copied other people it gets my blood boiling.
Thanks 👍👍

Thanks! Im not to sure, you could also get a good hardtail for that price.
Hey Jake, good review! I found this bike at a very good price second hand, do you say they still worth it in 2021?
For sure! Great bike and still going strong. Battle worn and tested 🤘🏻

Awesome! I am having the same problem, its slow and I have to pull it up for full hight
i have a trek marlin 6 and i ride so much harder trails so i think this bike deserves a better biker
Sure this bike could have a better rider but it sure won’t be you 🤡🤡
@@JakesBiking mate honestly this bike should be given adopted by a different family and taken away from you because its getting abused
have fun on your gravel paths buddy
I rode a marlin 4 harder than you I spent 200$ on replacement parts within 4 month of owner ship... I need a better bike lol
@@JakesBiking idk what this guy is thinking about your a pretty decent rider ! This bike is perfect for a rider like you
Eyyyyyy

Thanks mrs professional biker. If you feel the need to tell other people to progress, you should yourself.
I think the way you introduced your review and the quick spec recap sounding unprofessional
Thanks
Your welcome?
