For 15-17 year olds. Best case scenario: Playing on a MLS team/reserve team, or on a USL Championship team. Really high quality of play for a teenager. Next best: USL League 1. Not as good of quality as the above, but still playing against pros. Next best: Playing on a USL League 2 team. 3 players under 18 are required to be on the roster. Playing against ex NCAA D1/D2 players and former pros trying to get back. Next best: Playing in one of the elite Academies. Next to last worst case: Playing in a next tier academy maybe even splitting time with playing in high school. These players may play somewhat decent regional competition for half of the year. The other may be a great opportunity to maybe develop your overall skill because their is a chance your HS talent isn't that good. You may play Fullback/Def Mid at the club level, but are forced to play Att Mid or Striker for your high school team forcing you to develop different skills albeit against lesser competition. Worst case: Just playing HS. This is the worst case scenario. Not great competition and even the coaching is spotty. Regardless you need to take advantage of your situation and work hard. It isn't impossible to play HS soccer, end up at a D2 program and end up in MLS by 24/25 and maybe a decent league in Europe like in Belgium by 26/27. It will just take you longer.
Nice one man, good to see american kids caring about football. Academies are the way to go, if the US wants to compete with us in Europe, youth development is crucial. You guys have a lot of potential in that huge country, look at Pulisic and Davies. The regular american system ( high school/college//draft ) doesn't work with football, its a very tactical sport you need to play it and learn it from real coaches from a very young age, a high school team just doesn't offer you the same level of intensity and depth. Good luck from Portugal!
If America would stop putting American football above everything our best athletes would give the rest of the world a run for their money. It’s so hard to get certain people (African Americans) to play soccer at young ages. Everyone wants their kids to play football, volleyball, run track and so on. Every time I see African Americans I ask are if they’re willing to let their child play. They’ll say it’s too hot for that or black people don’t play soccer remarks. It’s pretty disheartening due to soccer being the most popular sport in the world 🌎
American academies are PAY TO PLAY!!!! Meaning most of the kids are playing because their parents have the money to pay those expensive fees!!!! They don't get the best players in result... That's why American soccer is lacking... !😏
I recently pulled my hamstring in a training session I had thank god its was only a grade l which allows to get back to work soon and put in more work and come back to achieve my dreams of playing pro👍
I feel like I might be good enough to play for an academy, but the closest one is over 1 hr 30 min drive. My parents would not be able to commute daily with me. (I am a u13 -14 player.) Do you think there will be any new academy teams in New England in the next couple years? Should I just play club soccer until high school? Can you give me any advice?
If you look at tons of football starts right now they all had to commute for hours and hours, it depends how bad do you want it. But if ur parents say no there’s not much u can do
Academy should be someone’s first choice in America to hope to go pro. but for some usa is all about money so a lot of people won’t be able to join because of lack of money so college soccer should be second choice.
I am going into my sophomore year of high school and this year I’m going to play varsity and club soccer in the National Premier League. Should I try to advance to usl academy this winter or next winter as a junior. I really want to play division 1 soccer and eventually go pro. Thanks for the video!
I love yo videos Will. I want to be like you one day but I play high school soccer only 2 years now. But I want to play MLS very soon. Also do you think I should play in under armour cleats?
I'm 14 yrs old rn and I was deciding on joining an academy but the thing is idk if I should or not. I really want to improve but I feel like I lack in something when I practice by myself
@@oxxui5564which academy did you join? How’d you join and did you have to pay? I’ll really appreciate it if you can answer these questions because I want to join a academy but I don’t know how to. Only academy I know is mls ones which is Philadelphia union the one near me.
I want to play in SOUNDERS FC. But I don’t have too much money. I’m not in Seattle either, tho, not too far from it. I don’t know what to do 😢 should I go to club, high school, or is there a different option?
I’ve always had this question hope u can help me answer it let’s say I’m in California and want to tryout for a team in Texas. Now let’s say I make the team where do I stay😅 it’s confusing to me
If you are a player they believe they can invest in and you make the team, they will usually take care of home stay and food for you. You will be with billet families! so work hard bro
I go to a private school where academics is the main priority. I play on a ECNL team but my club has an academy team which I think I will make next year. I don’t think u have to sacrifice school unless ur on a mls academu
William Akio thanks I’m from Northern California and the closest one to me is the San Jose earthquakes academy and I’ll be trying out for that one once COVID ends
i got a question bro so i went to tryout for the usl academy here in new york okay so i'm almost sure i made it okay so after u-19 and you get into the senior team which is semi pro after that what can you do to move up to the pro level like mls or anything like that
You can actually get scouted by bigger clubs if you play well in the USL. You might get a traded over to the best USL team and from there move up to MLS. Best of luck to you brother!!!
Some of the geniuses on here just know it all..😂... my daughter played regular rec soccer as a kid, went to high school and played 4 years. Her senior year she probably scored 7 goals all season if that. Still got a D2 college offer just off a couple of high school highlights !!!! Anything think is possible kids, if you want to play soccer after high school, you definitely can!!!!! Everybody's journey is a different path!!!😉
Hi man this is kind of off topic and a bit random, but how much and what kind of training do you think a 13 year old should do? note: i do like 1.5 hrs about.. a morning routine and technical work then maybe some body weight then like a large technical training with passing, juggling, and dribbling. they are like 45 min long
this is one day but different days=different things to work on, also i play ecnl and am a center midfielder so i definitely work on areas that will help me there the most: passing, my touch, and small space dribbling.
Mate that's a good plan just always be careful about your body and dont push to the point where it hurts you a lot. be smart and train effectively, recovering is the solution to great trainings.
