  • I just purchased this Tractor from Rural King and found very little info aside from sales material. So this is my review.
    This is an honest review and I receive no compensation from this at all.
    My youngest daughter also made a quick video and has it on her site.

    I bought the same tractor from RK a few months ago. I'm new to tractors and bought it because I needed something to deal with some land I just got for hiking and shooting. I love my RK55! RK really seems to stand behind them. Customer education and support has been fantastic!

      I don't think you will be disappointed. Minus a few things I'm happy with it. I am almost ready to say as good as my Masseys. These things are tough.

    Thanks for your RK55 tractor videos, they helped me make the decision to buy mine. You mentioned the narrow rear and I agree. They could have remedied the problem by outfitting the tractor with 2 piece rear wheels so that the inner hub could be flipped. Also the bucket is a little light. Mine has a bend in it.

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that would have been much better too. So far my bucket has held up moving and digging dirt. I went to look at a New Holland last week, not sure of the hp, 65 maybe, but it looked similar to the RK55 size. I climbed up in it and hit my head, low headspace. I looked around in the cab and it was nowhere as nice as my RK55 is. As I stepped down I went to the rear and it looked to be just as narrow as the RK55, maybe more. We went through the wettest winter in 100 years this year and I got close but never got stuck.

    This is a great review. The only thing I would say and as you probably know by now but the beet juice in the tires is for ballast weigt, it doesn't seal a tire in event of puncture.

    good luck with it. it is almost same as my mahindra 2555 hst open station. knobs and controls are all in the same place. except i don't have regen on mine. i have several videos posted about all teh features and the usage and general things i did to mine like using dielectric grease, paint pen on nuts/bolts, etc. got about 90 hours on mine.

      my pleasure. when i was investigating tractors prior to my purchase there were only a couple videos out on the 2555 and mainly by the dealers, no details on various buttons/knobs, etc. so i thought i would post what i found out. hopefully this spring i will be using the other attachments i have and take videos.

    Thank you for taking the time to make and post these reviews... The reviews are few and far between on the internet concerning the RK tractors. Although lighter than most, the tractor looks and seems to work pretty good for the money. If you have time, an 18 month or 24 month review would also be very welcomed and appreciated to see how the tractor is holding up. Are you in a cold climate? I am considering purchasing one of these tractors...

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your welcome. I live in East Tennessee. We have a few weeks of below zero in the winter and a lot of mud season. This past winter I had no problem starting it, which was nice and the cab was great. I wish I would have known I could swap the tires for Ag tires but these tires did well too. This tractor is heavier and longer than my MF231 but the wheelbase is narrow (63.8) , and that makes hills an issue, the Massey is 76 inches. That said it unloaded and stacked 5x5 rolls with no problem, even with me swinging it around quick. I want to do a follow-up showing it mowing a field, it excels at that and one feeding the cows in the worst part of winter. I sat in the RK37, which is too small for what I need but that Cab was tiny compared to the 55.

    RK is going to come out with a hydro for the open station tractor so both cab and open station in the 55 HP tractor will have the option.

      Sorry for the deli-ma, haven't been online as much lately. You might find a rental company who has Mahindra Tractors (same basically) and rent one. Then again would a smaller less expensive Tractor work for you? Cab or no cab? I wish me and dad bought this thing when he was alive, I think he would love it.

    the only thing you need to wonder about is service and parts. only time will tell on that. is that a corvair?

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I worried about that too so I researched it. They are made in South Korea by TYM and assembled in Wavely Ohio. TYM makes a lot of tractor and tractor parts. Not all Rural King stores sells tractors and the have a service area of 75 miles. Each that do sell must have a certified technician on staff. You know how farming goes though, you have to learn to fix a lot of things. I hope this will ghive as good a service as my Massey Ferguson has.
      Depending on which Corvair you saw. There is a 1964 Convertible sitting inside the carport, a 1966 2 door parts car outside, and a 1965 convertible in the back carport.

    I would be a little tentative to buy a tractor from a Dept store. They would have to show me a parts Dept and trained service technician.

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They offered to but I didn't go. If I don't trust people or a company I simply don't do business with them. There are brand name products I don't buy because I don't trust the service in whatever they sell. Hopefully this will be like my Massey Fergusons, well built and I'll not need the services.

    Any problems with the tractor and do you still think it is too narrow?

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has done well so far. We moved in 184 rolls of hay, many of them 5x5 rolls and I had no fear of turning over, and I moved it fast unloading and restacking it. I still think it is too narrow. It has the length and the height and the weight, just needs some width. The only things I'd change would be the width, a toolbox, and a tad easier ride. I still am pleased with the purchase.

    • @hilly777ak
      @hilly777ak  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problems so far. There was a problem of a back-up buzzer, I took care of that. For hillside, it is too narrow, I still don't use on the hillsides. I use one of the Masseys for that, they have a wider wheel base. They need to look at that.
