Unless some videos were deleted, it's fascinating to see how quick you guys were improving the quality of the videos back then. I would think this is a 2024 video!
Good to see this was a game that shown to be much better in retrospective for you. Not too many people can say that about their games they didn't like as a kid sometimes ha ha.
One of my childhood favorites. I have an absurd amount of nostalgia for this one. Beyond that though it's a competent platformer that still plays well today. It is indeed weird it exists since Ghostbusters franchise popularity was in decline at this point.
I remember hearing this from Yahtzee, but apparently the reason why Winston isn't in the game has to do with color palettes. If they added him it would mean adding another color palette, which would have doubled the price of the game. So it wasn't because of his race, but because of his color.... Never though that could make sense.
@@wjrandonx Janine wasn't included in the game, either, so it's not a race issue. Just a budget issue. Anyway, it could also be that Sega and Compile couldn't afford to pay royalties to Ernie Hudson on every copy sold (which could have driven up the price of the game).
This is one of my first Sega Genesis games I took the time to save and buy. I played the NES versions and just knew there had to be a Ghostbusters game out there that was good. My local video story had this game and I was fortunate to rent it once and never saw it again. I then went out and bought it. Still have to this day, complete.
i love that shirt! Great video too, im gonna blow the dust off this one and play it tonight i think. This was a Genesis launch title right? I remember this being a game that made me excited to rent a Sega (was a Nintendo kid) this, Castle of Illusion, and Spider-Man. Seriously tho, where do I get that shirt lol
Aaron Gaspar It wasn't a launch game, but I'm pretty sure it was out within the first year of teh Genesis's US life. It's a great game, thast for sure. The Ghostbusters game we deserved. The shirt, I got it at Skreened.com, They do custom designs, so I found a nice text box rip and put it on a shirt. The design will show up if you go there and do a search for "I feel asleep"
I actually know of this game's existence long ago. Had an old Sega Genesis magazine featuring a lot of old games. It was like a big strategy guide for lots of games, and this game was one of them.
I had a lot of fun playing this game back in the day.. though I can't remember if I beat the game or not. I remember I did go to the underground stage.
I got this game when it was new and completed it. Loved the fun factor, music, and theme. I remember my friends and I would joke that the reason reason Ernie Hudson isn't in this game is because the Japanese are racists. If anything though, it was because they likely had already developed most of the game before deciding to make it a Ghostbusters story. At that point, they only had the two stats, and decided to go with the three main characters that were in the movie from beginning to end. Still though, it would have been nice if they just added some dialog about how he had quit or retired or something.
You guys should structure these as either a review or retrospective. I care less to watch what is essentially a guide for a game I may never play. I'd much rather learn some history behind the game as well as your thoughts on it. Great videos still!

This is really well put together. Great job. I'll check out all your others. Game on!
Playstationfella [Coury] Thanks! This is one of my sillier videos. I hope you like the other stuff we have as well!
Love this game!
This game always gives me a feel of Ghouls n ghosts and Megaman
Nice; this actually looks pretty cool.
Kind of missing these little shorts they use to do.

Race affects skin color. So... I guess you meant "prejudice against his race"?
If Lethal Weapon for the NES could handle a palette swap for skin color I'm sure the 16-bit Genesis could handle it. Reeks of prejudice to me.

It's a solid game but my favourite GB game will always be Ghostbusters II on Amiga regardless of its flaws.
Where did you get the Metal Gear T-Shirt?

My head-canon: This is when Winston was off getting his PhD with the money he'd earned so far.

Compile are a far far too unappreciated company.
