    Wood carving for beginners
    In the beginning of your acquaintance with carving and whittling it can be quite difficult to figure out what will be easy to carve and what shall wait for the better times. However, everybody understands that there will be no learning without practicing so there is no way to learn carving only in theory.
    So how to find appropriate wood carving for beginners ideas? Well, for that you’ve got to have access to the Internet and that’s about it. There are a lot of various sources to find an interesting and inspiring beginner project. You can find articles on wood carving blogs offering you patterns or ideas to start whittling yourself. There are video tutorials like ours that show you what and how to do step by step. There are lessons on techniques too so you can learn new tricks as well.
    One of the most common project ideas for a starter in wood carving is a spoon. That’s also a quite practical thing to do. Think about it yourself - not only you learn how to carve, hold your knife and work with wood, you also have the potential to create fully functional kitchen utensils that demonstrate your own style and soul. Wins on all the fronts!
    It’s also a nice wood carving for beginners ideas to try relief or chip carving. Chip carving can be used for creating lovely decor elements that add coziness and warmth to your house. And relief carving is somewhat a way to create the paintings out of wood, so you’ll need to learn a little more about volumes, layers and patterns, but that’s completely worth it.
    You can try to do some simple jewellery or small animals, little in the round carvings (3-dimensional) that won’t require much detail but will still look beautiful as an abstract image. People love carving different wood spirits and little men as it allows you to master the skill of details and carving faces, which is not an easy thing to do at all.
    Overall, the amount of possible projects to take up is close to infinity, you just have to open up your mind to all of the potential wood carving for beginners ideas that you may find. And if you don’t want to bother yourself with the whole searching process, you can always turn to us. BeaverCraft loves sharing new patterns and tutorials (all for free!) together with tricks and advice on carving. Let us teach you what we know and we promise you’ll have fun!

    This is a newbie question, why do you not use the K1/10 instead of the K5/12 to remove the larger areas of wood?

    • @BeaverCraftTools
      @BeaverCraftTools  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's more suitable, you can use K1/10 instead of K5/12 😁. In this video, we just used the k5/12 gouge.

      @@BeaverCraftTools Thank you for the information. I own both, but thought there might be a reason K5/12 was a better option. Makes sense if that was the one that was handy at the time :) Thanks again.
